So today I told my grandmother & best friend I was having surgery (my family & friends don't know)...my best friend was supportive & asked questions but thought it was great...my grandmother on the other hand was very upset with me. While I know she's worried (especially since all my family is in another state) I was a little saddened by how upset she was...she was disappointed even. IDK it doesn't change my resolve & knowing I'm doing what's right for me...I guess I just hoped for a different response Sent from my iPhone using RNYTalk

Hello all! I've been reading for a while now the amazing stories, challenges, & triumphs and was inspired to join. I have been going through this process since February 2013 and have my surgery scheduled for June 25th...now that the date is set I'm A LOT nervous!!! I don't know why this has just hit me...I wasn't nervous at all up until now...I kept going back & forth between RNY & the sleeve and decided on the RNY. Does anyone have any advice on what u can expect after, what should I pack for the hospital, any blogs I can reference for meal ideas after...any tips on how to wrap up this final week of the pre-op diet (I'm starting to get REALLY Hungry). It's crazy & I will be honest I used to have that same thinking but after extreme dieting, up & down in the scale & so forth...you get to a point where you kind of feel lost...at least for me & that's when I got it...my low was being turned away on an amusement park ride! I still grapple with it because in my mind I feel like I should be able to conquer this on my own...but then I think that the fact that I am recognizing that I can't & accept the help & tools...that's courageous!
