    Two Weeks & Regret!

    Ironically for me is the one thing they told me to stir away from which is CARBS, is the one thing I can get down easily, such as oatmeal, rice, and certain crackers. I had a major addiction to carbs specially cereals and sweets, so I didn't want to even try eating these but my pouch was rejecting protein by itself even eggs! I'm 5 weeks out tomorrow, and it takes time, patience with yourself, and re-training your body to eat. I started getting the eggs down like in egg drop soup or pouched eggs, but solid or boiled eggs, it's just not happening yet. Luckily I don't eat red meats or any four legged animal to say the least, so tofu has been very easy for me to digest and not have any problems with. You'll have to play around with many food groups and consistency until you find one that works better for you. I am about sick of the protein shakes, and wish I could EAT a darn salad at this point, but I'm still not there. Hang in there, I think we've all had our downs when we have trouble eating even a tbsp of what we think is normal. The compensation to the sacrifice is seeing that reading in the scale go down. My surgeon grilled the 60g of protein on me, and said if I don't get those in I will be loosing LEAN muscle and not fat, so I try to remind myself than even when I don't want to chug down that chalky nice shake. LOL. I don't want to end up to flabby and loosing muscle tone, so make it your priority to loose weight maintaining your muscle tone and mass. Hang in there girl, we've all been there!

    Wow you get to leave after only one night? You're a champ! Keep it up, don't forget to take your daily protein requirement which is 60 grams for women. I'm sure your surgeon gave you the spill on the yummy nectar we all had to drink the first week to get your protein in. Otherwise you will be nauseated and feel very weak, not a good thing. Keep us posted!

    Wishing you all a fast and healthy recovery. Push yourself to WALK as much as possible even on your post-Op day 1. Walk and do your breathing exercises and you will be out ASAP!!!

    Best Decision Ever Made

    Betz, I have read almost all your post even the ones back from Nov 2012 and I truly want to thank you for your time and encouragement. You are an inspirational true story. I would love to keep you as my mentor. I'm 3 weeks out and have lost 18 lbs which doesn't seem a lot, but its a great start for me. I've been hitting the gym since 5 days out of surgery, so I'm feeling GOOD! Thanks again for your positive and inspiring story.

    San Diego Area!

    I just moved here a year ago from Rochester, MN. I lived there 5 years and had enough of the frozen tundra and decided to move. I love it here but you pay high prices to live in this paradise.
  10. I highly recommend my surgeon, Dr. Wittgrove in La Jolla, CA. I've had a few setbacks already with gastroentiritis, but its because I misunderstood that I could introduce eggs to my diet, yet my doctor wanted me only on liquids for the entire month because I had a severe hiatal hernia he repaired. So far I've joined the gym, and I'm going to it as well! I hired a personal trainer for once a week, joined support groups, taking my vitamins and protein shakes, yet I feel the need to engage in the kitchen where there is food to prepare my shakes and soups, but I'm never hungry and feel forced to do this when I really don't even want to???? Sigh.... its taking a lot of discipline, meal plannings, and motivation. Just need to keep at it and not be discouraged. That's why I decided to join in on these forums.

    San Diego Area!

    Wow, you look it too! I just had my surgery May 21 and although I normally would'nt log on to something like this, I need all the support and help I can get to loose the weight and keep it off, and most importantly live a healthy lifestyle. I live in the San Diego area, my surgeon is Dr. Wittgrove. So far I've had a few set backs but feeling optemistic.
  12. Wow, you look amazing. I'm 5'10.5. I'm surprise because there really isn't that many tall ladies out there who could pack on the weight and get away with it because we are tall. It wasn't till my medical chart read "morbidly obese." A word that haunted me for a while and will now be replaced with history of Gastric bypass. I'm only 3 weeks out and looking forward to some permanent weight loss. For now, Its about getting my right amount of protein and exercise every day. Thanks for sharing your sucess, and keep at it girl!
