My bill was 65,000 if they billed my insurance! Crazy I had to pay cash because my insurance doesn't cover bariatric treatment of any kind. I still had to pay $17k. But it's totally worth it!

What ya eating tonight?
graceann0888 replied to OleHippieGal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For lunch tonight I will try tuna with avocado, green onion and a little jalapeño, garlic salt and pepper. Loved this before surgery so I'm hoping it sits well. I also made a really good feta cheese spread or dip the other day. I love feta but its soo messy! I combined some fat free whipped cream cheese and tomato basil feta cheese and added some protein powder and pepper. I dipped some fresh cucumbers in it and it was great! -
Friday Weigh-In!

Well I'm kinds torn emotionally today. I am 1 month post op today. I weighed 235.8 last week and today I weigh 238.4! I have moved into eating some solid food and trying to get some calories in. I doubt I have gotten in over 450 on any given day. But I know it's still 20lbs in 30 days. So that is definitely something to be excited about. I have also started doing some cardio now so in sure everything will work out. I guess this is that stall that everyone talks about. -
I work 8 pm-5am with and hour drive each way. I make sure to drink a protein shake when. I wake up and another bottle of liquids before I leave. Then another shake while I'm driving to work and home from work. That way I get a minimum if 63g a protein in. I also take a 15 min break about 2-3 hours after I get there to have a hydration break. Lol. My goal is to get 20 oz or so of water etc down so don't get dehydrated. I take a lunch break for a Greek yogurt or soup as well around 2-3am. I wake up by 3pm so I have 4 hours to get my day started etc and only stay up until 7-8 am.

Anyone tried turkey bacon, I would eat it with egg whites and spinach before surgery? I haven't eaten real bacon in years so I wouldn't dare try it. Lol. It's morning for me so I'm going to try a scrambled egg and maybe a piece of turkey bacon before work then take some chicken noodle soup for lunch and some cottage cheese for a snack. If I actually have time to get all that in it will be a miracle! -
I took RJ's advice and broke up my morning protein shake into two and I've added a third for when I'm driving home from work in the morning. So I'm getting a minimum of 65g just from shakes. I was also only eating once a day and have been trying to make it twice a day plus three shakes and 2 or 3 just water/hydration breaks while at work. Moral of the story..lol upped my protein and water and I feel better! Thanks everyone for the advice.

I got my hospital bill yesterday. Unfortunately my insurance wouldn't cover a penny of the surgery as any treatment for obesity was an exclusion. I knew this before surgery of course. I drove 8 hours to have my surgery in Mississippi because the cost was significantly less for cash pay than in Tennessee! I was looking to buy my first condo or house here in Nashville but this was way more important! I'm only 24 so I have plenty of time.

I am drinking water with crystal light or diet green tea or propel, I usually get 2 or 3 16-20 oz bottles as well as protein shakes.

I haven't had the energy to start really exercising yet. I'm 2 and half weeks post op. I haven't had any complications or trouble with food yet. Most of the time I just feel like the smallest tasks take all my energy. I work night shifts 7pm-5am so I already have a backwards schedule and am tired. Lol. I should be getting enough protein, I start the day with a 20 oz protein that has 42-50 grams of protein. I take my multivitamin and b-12 everyday. I usually try to eat two or three times, Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, even had chicken salad this week. Then try to get another 8 oz protein shake in along with other fluids. So I'm hoping the fatigue is just because I'm only a little over two weeks out and still healing inside. The other thing I have thought is maybe my Iron? My multivitamin has iron so I haven't been taking extra. I have a dr appt in August to check my b12 etc. In the meantime I walk a lot at work every night, I'm a forensic chemist in an open, roughly 20 thousand square foot lab. I did rearrange today and get my gazelle/glider and boflex out. So happy energetic thoughts this way:)

I am about three weeks and I feel the same way. I just take two or three bites then quit because I know my pouch should be full and I'm scared of overdoing it. -

Going to try some chicken salad. My work bought us chick fil a for working the holiday, so took the patty off the bread and chopped up half and threw it in the magic bullet with a tablespoon of light mayo. -

Try the diet snapple, diet green tea, diet v8 splash and vitamin water zero. I was allowed to have those. I just watered down the v8 if I drank it. -

Faux potato soup, I found a recipe on Pinterest that is actually cauliflower, cheese, turkey bacon, green onion and onion, garlic and I mixed some Greek yogurt in for some extra protein. -
We can't take any NSAID's but we can Tylenol right? Does it have to be the liquid or can I take tablet form? Is the dosage different because of our absorbance limitations? I have terrible menstrual cramps and aleve was the only thing that worked before.

I had 2 teaspoons of garlic hummus tonight, it tasted great. I did take a sip of of water because the garlic was pretty strong. About 5 mins later I didn't feel so great. Stomach wasn't hurting at all but was a little nauseous. I wonder if it was because its the first thicker food I've eaten or maybe because of the water? Because I had taken a bite earlier in the day and that didn't help. -

Finally on the losers bench! 10 days post op and I have lost 13 lbs! It feels so great to be below 250. I lost 100lbs on my own 3 years ago so down to 237 then put on a little over time and haven't been able to get below 250 no matter what I did! I haven't set a final goal yet I'm not sure because I am so short only 5'3. I'm thinking somewhere between 130-150? Hw 340 surgery weight 258 cw 245 -
Had my surgery 10 days ago on the 19th. As of yesterday I am down 13lbs! Woohoo! I also went back to work tonight a few days ahead of schedule. Everything went well. My back started hurting so I just took it easy. I haven't had any problems with food yet. I have been purée ing my soups. Had some green chili vegetable that was fantastic after all the jello and broth! Lol. I love spicy so I'm glad I didn't have any problems with it. I might try adding a slice or two of jalapeño to my chili when I purée it. I also puréed some fat free cream cheese with a cucumber from my garden and have been eating a bite of it here and there! Very refreshing. Hope everyone is doing well.

I'm from Nashville, I just had surgery June 19th, so one week ago today. I have lost 8 lbs so far. Doing well. Keeping up with my protein and water. I puréed a little soup tonight. I was nice to have something with texture and flavor.

If anyone is having problems with protein shakes, I use Unjury brand mixed with dairy free unsweetened coconut milk and I have had no problems. I didn't drink dairy milk before so I was scared to start now. I am also going to try with almond milk.
