  1. Hi there, I just had my lap band surgery about 5 weeks ago and I lost 10 lbs in the first two weeks, and only another 5 lbs since then. I found that I can eat a lot and there really isn't anything that I can't eat. I don't get really really hungery as before and can go all day without eating till late afternoon. I think that I have made some errors in choices regarding food and beverages. I also started smoking again, so back to 800-quit-now I go. It is a really great program and a cheap cheap price... I go in for my first tightening of the band. Have you had that done yet? How is it afterward? I am guessing it will be similar to right after surgery. I will be careful for awhile and phase back into knowing what I can and cannot eat again. It is nice to have hope and room in my pants again. People I know that are heavy enjoy getting my hand me downs... Take care.. Jeanette:faint:

    Banded 9-10-07

We were banded about the same time. I was 9-20-07. I have only lost 15lbs, but I have not had a fill and have not had troubles with eating at all. I eat everything. I will go in next week to have it tightened. I took 2 weeks of only fluids before I started on semi solids. I didn't have a blender so I hesitated being scared something would happen. I don't have a support system and I am mom to 2 kids, so if something goes wrong and I am in ER they go to social services, so I went in knowing how careful I would have to be. My friend came over 2 wks after and we had a buffet, I had a bite of everything, so my doc said if I throw up just go to clear solilds for 2 days or so. I read the book "when food is love" I think that all of us need to read this book because even mid sized people eat to much sometimes. Our world may have become a bit uncompassionate and seculded so this helps to get back out there emotionally.

    Getting Nervous Before Surgery

You know I did the same thing, but I had a baby about a year ago so when I went into surgery I thought of exactly what I wanted. I wanted to be comfortable, I wanted to have the anistesiologist to talk with me and not just put me under mid sentence. It was really wonderful. I cried A LOT. I cried in the morning when they washed my belly...I went in on my own... no family or friends went with me. When I woke up I cried I'm So Happy! I'm So Happy... I did shake and was cold, but the staff stayed with me and brought warm blankets. I was in a quiet room and the drugs are really good! so take it easy... now that it's over. I would do it again and again if I had to.
  5. You know they say not to eat and drink at the same time, but I do and I only spit up a bit when I don't chew enough or I'm eating stuff like roast beef and I eat it quickly...also bread..with butter mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.... so it is a pacing issue for me. i think that if you are spitting up you can have blockage..also you may have the band grinding into your stomach making you leak stomach fluid that could make you very sick.
  6. Well the weight will come off. At that point it is up to you to decide if you like your new life.... and can make a new lifestyle as a thinner you. It was quick, easy, and I was carring my baby around within three days. I was up and walking the day of surgery. I suggest it to everyone. I know soon as I get thin that my lifestyle will be filled with other things besides food..what Im eating what I'll eat next what looks good to eat etc etc. good luck to you

    Training for a triathlon...

I make an ass out of myself daily! It is just part of who I am... My mother use to run triathalons etc. and it's just not fair that she can kick my ass. I have done some hikes by myself and the power I would get from completing the task to my standards and being satisfied with myself was really great. I guess you can try the "try every day program" As long as you feel that you have tried to work towards the goal every day, then you may enjoy the journey a bit more.
