  1. They kept telling me I can't go until anteshia to wear off. I took my first walk at 4:30 pm and went to the carpet by the clinic and down to the nurses desk. At 7:30 pm I went down by the delivery room, and went into the clinic hallway back to my room, and the staff are surprised how well I can move around so well without help
  2. That's good. I think I was the first to ask to start walking before I got into the hospital room
  3. My surgery went very well. My only pain I have is from when they had to repair a hernia. The minute I got upstairs to my room I wanted to go walking
  4. Surgery tomorrow have to be at the hospital at 5:30 in the morning. Any advise?
  5. Surgery date is September 16th. So excited, nervous, and a little scared. Just with the future. I live in a house with 3 roommates, and scared that when I go back after recovering at my parents, and watching them eat foods that I use to eat. I'm not scared of eating healthier just seeing my other roommates eating unhealthy, and be tempting. Does it seem silly or not?
  6. I started my weight loss journey at 360 and so far I've lost 50 pounds pre op. I was denied by insurance and I appealed it, and on Wednesday I found out that my appeal worked and was approved for the surgery. I go in for the pre op September 10th and could be having surgery that week or the next week. Nervous, and scared, but I know I can do this, and be able to live longer and be more health and not have to have so many issues with my chronic back pain and other medical issues

What Exercise Did You Do Today?

Walked a mile and a half. Was in pain, because of my back and hips, my muscles in my back are so weak that my hip joint comes out of the socket. Hoping therapy will help and my injection in September will help. Found out if the injection doesn't work they might need to burn my nerves.

    exercise for a bad back

I'm wondering if any of you know what I could do with a pretty bad back. I'm 23 and I think getting back into a routine that I'll start to loose weight again. Besides swimming and walking is there anything else I can do. I can't really be stable walking sometimes, and I've severely sprained my ankle not once but twice. The first one I was laid up for months, and it could of lead to surgery, so I'm not a big fan of walking. I love to swim, but between work, classes, and fitting in appointments, I don't have time to swim, the YMCA has a pool, but by the time I can do it I've missed the open swim.
  12. They sent everything into insurance last Thursday, and I'm nervous as heck. Does anyone have suggestions to keep the nervousness away and off my mind
  13. I have blue cross blue shield of mn, and wondering how long it took to get approved, the only thing we are waiting on is for my psych evaluation to go to the clinic and she said she was going to send it Monday. So after they send everything in about how long does it take for insurance to approve?

What Exercise Did You Do Today?

I love the elliptical, I also do it for 60 minutes, and people who I know that exercise and are in shape don't see how could do an hour and that they can't even do it for an hour. I've finally got the all clear to go back to exercising which has been for almost 4 months or so I would get hurt, and the first injury it wouldn't heal and they thought I needed surgery, finally got that healed then my bulging disc acted up went back to pt, then I severely sprained ankle, and just today I had my last pt appointment knock on wood (knock knock)

And So It Begins. . .

I agree, doctor thinks August, but I was hospitalized for med changes so a little bit nervous, but staying positive, and I think I've got that situation demolished when I talked to my life style counselling person today. So hoping August is the date, but if I have to wait tell December what a great birthday and Christmas gift I would be giving myself.

And So It Begins. . .

I'm 23 and got everything done just waiting for everything to get sent to the surgeons office so they can send it into insurance
  18. I'm in the pre op stage have completed the requirements, just waiting for everything to get sent to my surgeon, and then get it into insurance my surgeon thinks August. My highest weight was 360, and that was last May after moving to a new town since then I worked out for 1 hour and 45 minutes, have had set backs with injuries to my ankle not once but twice, and my bulging disc flared up and wasn't able to work or workout, but didn't let it get me down only gained a couple pounds, but have lost that. Went to see the surgeon couple weeks and was 321 today I weighed myself I was 314. It helps that I see a dietitian. The hospital wanted me to lose 30 pounds and I have gone past that, really going to help when I get a chance to get exercising again, right know I'm doing pt, and hoping to be done with that tomorrow. For people that are thinking of getting gastric bypass, I recommend doing as many dietitian appoints you can even if your insurance doesn't require it. You learn a lot, and lose weight, it then shows your insurance that you can lose weight, and keep it off. Good luck to anyone that is pre op or post op.

What Exercise Did You Do Today?

Today I walked to the store and backs. I just got the approval to exercise again after months of not being able to exercise, because of injuries. So I thought I would start slow and work me back to an hour and a half to an hour and forty five minutes. I'm preop, and never liked to exercise and its a new coping skill that I've added on to my list

anyone have blue cross blue shield?

I was hospitalized in December for med changes, and was told it could affect if I have to wait tell December or if I can have it in August. I talked to my insurance and they said I'm fine, but one of the people that is part of my team said it still could affect it and I shouldn't have called my insurance company. I think if I have a question that my insurance has as a policy that I should call them if I have any questions. What do you guys think did I make the right decision, and I have nothing to worry about?
