Hello to all of my June Mates, Had my six month assessment yesterday by the emanate Dr, Ing. The Doc is very happy with my progress and here is the breakdown 179 lost to date need vitamin A added to my diet I am officially physically conditioned ( heart rate resting and excising are within normal healthy zone) was asked to be a mentor for new patients coming into the program for 2014 since I embody all of the positive aspects of the Bryn Mawr program ( I accepted and am very psyched to hopefully help someone get were I am ) Dr. Ing seems to think the sleep apnea may be cured will have sleep study. This will confirm what i already know. Well here In Media PA , It was 40 degrees by 3pm went for a hike in the snow covered woods and had an excellent very physical walk. we are forecast for 3-5 inches on Monday and back into the single and negative digits for the next couple of weeks. I may have started to breakthrough the stall just changing up food and exercise . will try to get a long bike ride in tomorrow before the weather change. Peace out RJ

Congrats! you inspire me to stay on target! the ice and snow not to mention the bitter cold has limited my range also....come on spring!

Wow thats just weird :-) all i know is every time i look in the mirror i smile. Also i have a theory that its winter so its built into our dna to store fat during these months. goes back to when we were hunters and gatherers.

Well... I have an update for you... I decided to weigh in this morning because we will be away tomorrow morning and i like to try and have the same set up every time I weigh in... I wish I could share some good news with you, but unfortunately not... I literally did not lose one ounce! Nothing! Exact same weight as last week... As the last 3 months! I'm SO depressed. All I could do was literally cry. I don't get it. I've tried everything. Upping protein, lowering fat, lowering carbs, all liquids, upping exercise, UPPING CALORIES, and not tracking at all... I'm going to call my surgeons office and ask if they'll run labs... I have hypothyroidism and am worried that my thyroid pill isn't getting absorbed so my thyroid has slowed down a ton. I'm just over it. It's such hard work for zero reward... Dearest Wannabeawifey, I agree with Baconville & iamsoworthit we are all hitting stalls and our bodies have figured out what we have done. The human body is a self correcting mechanism it will sort itself out. Your doing everything right just stay on target and it will pass . go away enjoy your time and don't freak out about this. I've personally have been stalled for 3 weeks but still I still feel amazing. Ive been fat for so long a short stall like this is but a small bump on the road in this very long and amazing journey look in the mirror and see the awesome beautiful person who is blossoming Cheers RJ

Well is snowing like all get out here in Media PA. And the weight loss and all of my walking and exercise paid off today. I commute to work and since the bus service here becomes sketchy when it snows heavily. I opted to not wait for a bus that i knew would never come and walked the mile in blizzard conditions to a route i knew would be the last to shut down with no problem as a matter of fact i crushed it :-) Got the last bus out!!! the others should have listened to me.....

Mel things are good here in the Mid Alantic states :-) picking up a bike today and adding that to exercise schedule. Ive walked just about every inch of this town need to extend my reach! still cannot tolerate any leafy veggies.... How are you with salads?

Opinions please! While i have always enjoyed cooking, I now find my creative cooking side is activated since my RNY . Lets face it my healthy food choices outside of this home and what i pack along with me are lets says limited. This mornings breakfast consists of fresh sliced avocado.low fat feta cheese, egg substitute and topped with a peach mango salsa ..... Very tasty !!!! Is any one else going through a cooking Renaissance :-) RJ

Here is a little victory of sorts? soooo in the past when 450+ lbs RJ would slip on the ice and fall on his tookus it would be a very tramatic experience trying to get vertical and in most cases a passer by would render assistance. In short it sucked an i would always get injured to some degree. This year i have gone down twice. The second one occured last night on the way back from the trolley ride home. But in both cases this year i was able to brace properly bounced right back up ( no assistance required) brush myself off in under 5 seconds and be on my way uninjured. I love my new life.

Finally my 2 week stall has broken down 9 more pounds for a total of......wait for it!....179 dont care how the rest of today goes my day.....scratch that, week is made Peace out RJ

Thanks :-) But all in all a great season. Very impressed with Chip Kelly, no pratical NFL head coaching experience and he was able to rally this team to a respectible season.he has a core team that is behind him. And while Eagle fans are some of the toughest in the country he was able to win us over. As we say here every year ......there is always next season :-) E.A.G.L.E.S. .....Eagles!!!! time to switch my cap... Bring on the Fightin' Phils...........play ball!!

Awwwww shucks :-) your pretty awesome yourself Mel

I have had and been told by my Doc Surg that aches and pains will be common until my weight stabilizes after a year because my frame will have to adjust /compensate for the new weight distribution. Well, my goal for this first holiday season has been to maintain my weight. as of this morning I am down 1 lb I'm pretty happy with that. I have eaten anything and everything I've wanted, learned that a few things no longer taste good and I don't feel deprived. I'm almost 90lbs down from last January and that makes me feel fantastic. I will be going to the doctor next week to see if i can get a referral to physical therapy though. I don't know if it's the weight loss or residual effects from back surgery 10 years ago. My back has been bothering me again (change in center of gravity?) and since I've become more active I've noticed that my left side (especially my leg) is noticeably weaker than my right. (this is the side that was most affected by my back before surgery) Anyone else experiencing anything similar? I can say that i blew out my PCL (Posterior Cruciate Ligament ) several years ago and it was a constant bother and my hip would be constantly sore since i was compensating . but once i hit the 100 to 125 lbs mark they are 100% improved. Hope it improves!! PT is an excellent proactive approach to managing your well being Congrats on getting through the Holidays with out folding . RJ
