I tied an experiment since my last post and its baked products for sure. Im good with food but if i take so much as one bite of bread or any thing close to it. toasted or untoasted my pouch rejects it. well check that off my list for the next few months. at least now i know.

Thanks Sara Beth, i was starting to think it was just me. im actually doing well with soft foods refried beans. veggie chili. its the " real food" that is problematic, and i chew it until it a pureed consistance. i think it may be baked products? breads, tortillas not sure why but it appears when ever i have an issue some baked was involved. im going to stay away from them this week amd see what happens. Just to be clear im talking about one small bite and im feeling it.

I am having my surgery June 12th. trying to get a rough idea on what are the medications i may possibly be being perscribed upon my release from the hospital ( i know everyone is diffrent and i am NOT!!! seaking medical advice). I am actually in very good health except for the weight issue. i take no medications currently....good genes i guess? ......any feedback would be helpful

Yep having the same thing , half of a small banana ( pulverized) is like a thanksgiving dinner ... went grocery shopping 3 weeks ago and have no need in the foreseeable future to go again. I have cut my grocery bill by 3/4 easily... not to mention the saving from not getting takeout for lunch of on the weekends

I have stayed vegeterian since surgery and have remained that way even thought i have started back to "real food". But tonight i got a bug up my ass i wanted cream of chicken soup........BIG MISTAKE!!!! took me two hours to feel normal. I only had 2 tablespoons. My pouch is pissed at me tonight! I can now scratch chicken soup off my friendly food list. Im sticking with vegeterian for the forseeable future.

ALMOST @ THE BEGINNING
Weight Warrior replied to Diva86's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
ALMOST @ THE BEGINNING, My best wishes and prayers are with you on the beginning of your post-op journey . Its hard to put into words what you are about to go through. Its very empowering, sometimes overwhelming, but in the end worth ever single thing you have and will go through. My tips would be the normal ones you will hear; 1) Walk as much as possible in and after the hospital during the early weeks . in fact walk, you butt off , it truly makes a difference in healing and gas pain right after surgery. ( get a good pair of sneakers , you'll need them and it makes a difference is you have comfortable footwear) 2) be prepared for the return home , stock up on fluids, protien, Vitamins, band-aids, rent movies, and all of the others items your surgical team recommended . you will not want to get out much during the early weeks except to walk and you may be tired after that . 3) set yourself a schedule , walking eating , fluids ... its sucks but if you start off on the right foot it becomes second nature quickly. 4) if something doesn't feel right call your surgical team, there are no stupid or silly question, they want you to be healthy and successful that's what they are there for. 5) Hydrate constantly, try to get all of your protien in, The rest you will learn as you go, if you need advise or support just ask we are all here for you Best Regards RJ Surgery June 12, 2013 -
One last thought for this morning. some of you have posted you hate protien shakes because of the texture. i have found if you add a raw egg to the mix and blend it the egg gives the shake a smooth silky texture. kinda of like an egg cream ( this may be a north east coast thing ? ) but it does help! and it adds protien. have a great day RJ

Good Evening June RNYers, I have been playing around in the Kitchen more and wanted to share this with you . first off I LOVE HUMMUS (but now in much smaller, teeny tiny portions) it high in fiber blends well with protien powder and goes down smooth ... and it frickin awesome tasting .. RJ'S HEAVENLY HIPPIE HUMMUS 1 - 15.5 oz. can of chick peas 1/4 red bell pepper ( fire roasted if ya got em ) 4 Tbsp. of olive oil ( 3 will work it just gets kinda thick like paste) 1 Tsp. of garlic salt ( less is always better ) 1 tbsp of red wine vinegar 1 tbsp of lemon juice ( i use the concentrated in the green bottle ) 2 or 3 tablespoons of cumin ( depends how much you like cumin, im a big cumin fan!) optional : you can add Cayenne Pepper for some heat. does not effect the flavor toss it all into a blender for 30 seconds and viola!! Hummus that would cost you 6 Dollars in the store and has all kinds of preservatives in it you just made for under 2 dollars ... you just need to use it over the next 3 maybe 4 days if it is chilled properly. hope this helps those who are still in the pureed foods phase. or for those who just like hummus as much as i do. all measurements are with actual measuring spoons. recipe can be adjusted easily for your individual taste Cheers RJ

My daily work schedule too date is as follows: 4AM - Up and at them!!! in reality I lay in bed and check RNY talk till 5am :-) 5 AM - Protein Shake and take vitamins over the next hour :-P 6:45 AM - Walk 1/2 mile to the trolley ( i increase my speed and have shaved 5 possibly 8 minutes off my best time as of this morning . I have set a goal of walking a full mile to the next stop on the line by end of August 10 AM - Protein shake 3 PM - Protein Shake or G3 Gatorade 5 PM -Walk 1/2 mile to Home ( once again i have i increased my speed and have shaved 5 possibly 8 minutes off my best time .... Yea ME!) 6 PM - Light dinner with Protein powder added and take vitamins over the next hour :-P 8 PM - food ( sugar free Popsicle or sugar free apple sauce ) cut off point nothing but water or crystal lite after 8pm 10 PM - Power down for the evening , read play on my Android and drift off to have silly dreams During the day i sip / drink as much water as possible. I have a bottle in front of me at all times and whenever my phone rings or i get an email i take a sip . needless to say i'm constantly sipping ( i get a butt load of calls and emails every day) , its good to be busy :-) also i make an effort to move constantly , i try if possible to go see the person instead of calling, up and down the stairs constantly . ( if my schedule allows it ) it all adds up !! walk further do more moving ..... the buildings were the operations groups are is medium sized so it is conducive to getting in some good exercise while at work as you can see i'm religious about this and i manage to get all of my protien , fluids and exercise in daily , on weekends i mix it up more but i do exercise twice as much on weekends Hope this helps RJ

I have been told by my surgeon that some RNY patient have no tolerance for chicken in any way shape or form. My one friend told me she could not eat chicken for a whole year after here RNY. Im holding off on chicken until im feeling more confident with solid foods. good luck, i would call your surgeon and run it by them to make sure.
