    What am I doing wrong??

I have been banded since July 2007 and have only lost 30 lbs. I want to ask ppl, do you feel pain when you eat even when you've chewed your food? When I get a small fill, I feel constraint, like I can't breath... Is it my fear of not being able to eat the foods I want in the portions that got me into this trouble in the first place? Am I fighting the band? Do I resent the band? Can anyone relate to what I am saying and have any words of wisdom?

  3. I was banded in Aug/07. To date I have lost 35 lbs which is not too bad. I have a 10cc band and I just had my third fill so I am now up to 6cc. Things started out ok, but now everytime I eat...even clear Soup...I am not kidding...I feel that hugh basketball feeling in my chest and the pain up my back. I don't PB or anything else, but I don't get relief, so I sit here in pain until it passes. For the last 3 days things have been like this. I have tried coke, and pineapple juice works, but until it does I am in this pain. I don't think it is because I am too filled, but I don't know why else this could be happening.....I am chewing slowly, small bites...everything right, but no go. When I start feeling better, I am so afraid to eat, and then when I do, it starts all over again. Can anyone relate? Any suggestions? lisa
  4. Hi SHesha, I had the same problem with the diet coke. I could/would drink like a 2L a day-4-5 cans !! so I know how hard it is to get away from it. I found that keeping other stuff in the house like Crystal Lite Iced Tea, Water, etc instead of the diet coke, it was easier for me to not see it and want to drink is. We think that just because it has no calories that it is ok. Granted, it's not the same as food consumption, but I do believe that most of my weight was lost because I cut out the pop...even our diet stuff! It really makes you retain water! Lisa

    Tired of being "stuck"

Thanks Ladies!! I think whatever it was that I got stuck FINALLY, after almost 3 days passed thru. I tried the coke and pineapple juice, but that didn't seem to help in this case. Thank goodness it's over. I couldn't stand the pain or the not eating or drinking....of course, just when I set up apt to go for defill, it takes care itself! Finicky is an understatement! Lisa

    How much pain

Don't sweat it!! there's nothing to it, and I'm a big suck!! It's a little poke and that's it, although i guess it depends where your port is, how easy it is for your doctor to feel it to find the center. My port is to the left of my belly button and is close to the surface, so my Dr. has never had a problem. Hope this helps!! Lisa

    can't throw up

Thanks a bunch Kat!! I was going to run out and get some but then I also found that coke works well also...which I had in the house...it was left over from Xmas party or we usually never have pop in the house...but I figure, Yeah if it is suppose to clean your car's battery, then it just might do the trick!! And it did !!!!! OMG I feel so much better! Water is now going down, so I'm going to attempt to have some soup! Take Care Lisa P.S. >

not getting full...and a little worried

Hi Ellen, I am Lisa, and yes I am having the same problem. I was banded at TLBC in Toronto on AUgust 9th. I am just starting to eat solid foods, and like you, I did not expect to be able to eat as much as I am. I have my first fill on Sept 17. So for now, I am taking everyone else's advise and really watching what I eat. When is your first fill? Check back in with us and let us know how you feel after. I'll do the same and we can compare notes. Lisa
  12. HI Susan70 . I too slipped up 3 days post-op. I won't get into it, but I posted my slip on another site, and I was totally humiliated by the replies I got. So humilated that I erased all my profile and will never log there again. Yes, I may have wanted a little sympathy, but like you, I also wanted support from those who possible went thru the same thing...and got none. I can relate. Hang in there. I realized the guilt of my own stupidity made me feel much worse than anything anyone could have written to me!! I'm doing much better now, and you will too! hang in there! ms L.
  13. Hi all, I was banded on Aug 9. All went well. The postop diet is killing me. Some say weren't hungry after banding...but not my case. If I thought I was starving on the pre op, this is a whole new class !! Any suggestions?? mslisa
  14. I know what you mean about the 2 week pre op!! It about killed me. I cheated a couple...ok, a few times, but I did it in the end, my surgery went well. But...if I thought the pre op diet was hard...the post op liquid phase isn't any more of a consellation. This is about the hardest thing that I have had to do in my life. Honestly, I still am not sure what I've done and even what I'm doing. I can only go right now from minuite to minuite and hope that it gets easier....soon! I think some councelling would be very helpful. All the best to everyone out there. We're all in the same boat at some point of another...keep the posts coming. Hearing everyone stories is what is keeping me going!! mslisa
  15. HI Kober Did you go to TLBC for your surgery? I am scheduled for Aug 9/07 and I am having a terrible time with the pre op diet. Coffee/tea/Crystal lite, Cottage cheese, yogurt, and milk. I've been eating sugar free popsicles, seems it hasn't hurt anyone else ! mslisa
  16. Not to worry Judi, I hear you loud and clear !! I feel that IF i can get thru the pre-op AND post-op diet, then why couldn;'t I just have lost the weight on my own? And like you I wonder the whole day if I am doing the right thing and that I won't really go thru with it. I was suppose to send my deposit cheque for $2000. on monday, but I still have it sitting on my desk. I can';t seem to put it in the mail box ! It's non refundable !! And I keep thinking that as soon as I drop it in, then I'll come up with the golden reason why I shouldn't or can't have the surgery. Good bye $2000. I'll keep you posted! Have a great trip...just think of next year's holidays....we'll be hot skinny mamas ! Lisa
  17. Hey Wanabthin...keep me posted on how your pre op diet is going! If you've read any of my posts, that is what I am most afraid of....The train may not even leave the station !! Have a great trip! Lisa
  18. Hi Alexandra, Did you gain any weight back since the first band came off? All the best with your rebanding in August. I am being banded as well in August for my first time. The Pre-op and post op diet is what scares me the most. Any advise? How do you possibly get thru those weeks? Lisa

    Surgery August 13th

I am being banded first week in August. I am glad that I am not the only one who is worried about the pre op and post op diet. I am more afraid of being a failure at that than I am scared of the surgery. What if I can't do this 2 week liquid diet? And what will happen to the way I look at food after the band? Will I ever be truly able to enjoy food again? What can I say....I truly love food. But for health reasons, I know I have to do this for myself and my family. Anyone who has any words of wisdom, it would be appreciated.
