    Any regrets?

My only regret is not having it done sooner Yvonne x
  2. Been wondering about this and hope you people can set me straight. How long after eating is it OK to drink? I understand that what we eat is supposed to make us feel full for hours because it sits in the pouch and is released slowly into your stomach - but how can this be the case when we drink afterwards? doesn't the Fluid flush the food out the pouch - defeating the purpose? Or does the fluid sit on top of the food and back up? I'm a wee bit confused - sorry. I'm trying to get my head around this before I get my first fill. Yvonne x
  3. Hi, I think you need an unfill - I've heard about people having these problems before and a small unfill helped. I'm not an experienced bandster but hopefully one will be along soon to offer you some advice. Yvonne x

Thanks Teresita, I've heard that about waiting a while - just worried that drinking will flush the food out of the pouch and you'll feel hungry again. Yvonne x

Hi, I've got the thyroid problems too - how much thyroxine are you on? I'm on 250mg daily. Wondering if it'd be cheeky to ask the doc for an up in the dosage cos I'm sure I'm still underactive - will need to ask for a new blood test too. Four stone to go - that's brilliant - I'm jealous - I've got twice that yet. We'll get there. Yvonne x

Hi, I had my op on the Nhs - I'm one of the lucky ones - but not when it comes to fills - the Nhs leaves a lot to be desired in that department - where I am anyhow - got to wait 5 months for mine - here's hoping I keep losing till the 26 Apr. Good luck with your ops, Yvonne x

  18. Hi Helen, I was on the waiting list for just over a year. I'm in Glasgow but have heard that other people only wait a few months - just depends where you are. The first time I asked my gp she wouldn't refer me - it took me another year to build up courage to ask again - I even wrote her a letter before going in to talk about it again - else I would've burst into tears - I also wrote to every surgeon I could find who performed the surgery - but in the end she did refer me - I had an appointment with the surgeon shortly afterwards - I was never aware of any funding problems as this was never mentioned. One thing I have become aware of is that the aftercare from the NHS can leave a lot to be desired - I have to wait 5 months for my first fill - I've heard of others only having 2/3 fills per year - but this isn't always the case - some people have excellent care - again it all depends where you are. Good luck and let us know how you get on, Yvonne x

Hi Pilko, I've heard it said that any weight you lose before being filled to your sweet spot is a brucie bonus  so don't worry if you haven't lost anything. I had that last supper thing too - for about 2 months before the op  Let us know how you get on, Yvonne x
