Has anyone out there used Dr. Smith in Park Rapids, MN? I had my consult in Feb, but because of my insurance, it's been kind of a drawn out process. I have my psych consult next week, then hopefully find out about approval and surgery date 1-2 weeks after I've already quit drinking pop and smoking almost 8 weeks ago, I'm pretty proud of myself because I've had a friend and a grandma pass away since then. Good luck to everyone out there!

I had that problem when I had back surgery, I got so itchy I was scratching so hard I was breaking the skin and bleeding It ended up being an allergic reaction to the pain med and they just kept me on Benadryl till they took me off the morphine and i was fine. Hang in there, it will get better

Wishing you the best!

Good luck to everyone having surgery today

My doctor said they are most likely gas pains and to walk to help alleviate the pain. Also I'm supposed to take milk of mag tomorrow to help get things moving.

I was very lucky, brought a pillow with but didn't need it at all. Had no pain and slept the 1 and 1/2 hr ride home.

Surgeon was just in and said my xrays they took this morning looked really good and i will be able to start phase 1 of the diet, which is juice and jello, up until now it's been ice chips only.

Made it through surgery well, just s little sore. Nurses say i ask doing really well. I was up walking about noon and had gotten out of surgery at about 930. They has me sit in a chair for an hour and a half then walked again before getting back in need

For those that have had the surgery so far, are you already noticing a change in how your clothes fit you?

Did you have to have, i think it's called a nasogastric tube in your nose after surgery and if so how uncomfortable is it? -

As far as vitamins go, where do you get yours at? I was looking at the bariatric advantage website and there vitamins are so expensive. -

Thanks so much for the info! I am uber excited because i just got the call that I am approved for surgery and will be having it in 2 weeks I am a little nervous about the nausea from the pain meds. I had back surgery 2 years ago and as far as I am concerned, that is not the best time to find out I'm allergic to morphine. I never realized how much back muscles were used for throwing up until then, once they gave me something for the nausea and the itching i was fine. One thing I'm wondering about is loose skin. I've heard it helps if you work out to help tone things up. But it's minor, I'm more concerned with getting healthy. How did you handle telling family, friends, and coworkers you were having the surgery? I haven't told many people because i don't want to argue, I'm not doing this for them, I'm doing it for me. My husband told his family last weekend that i was planning on having Surgery, i guess my sister in law was against it, i wasn't too surprised though, she is a nurse practitioner who works in gastroenterology so I'm guessing she only sees when it goes wrong, not all the people it goes great for. -

Thanks so much for the encouragement and putting my mind at ease I hope you don't mind me asking a few questions. How was the pain after surgery? Were they able to control it? If you work, how long did they have you off work? I work in packaging so I lift heavy boxes all day and I have horses so I'm hoping to be ready for when we start baling hay. I hope everything is still going well with losing weight
