I actually had a lap-band approximatly 6 years ago placed. I lost 60lb's with it and considered it a success and looked forward to further success with it. However after a upper GI it was discovered that a issue with the lap band that I was told occurs in approximatly 10% of lap band patient had happened and it had to be removed. I decided that I still hadn't reached my goal wieght, so if I was having to have surgery to remove the lap band, I wasnt going to give up and decided to have the bypass at the same time. In for a penny in for a pound as they say, I hope to be in for about a 130lb's when all is said and done.
I spoke to several people in my community that has had this surgery and they recommended my surgeon, the surgeon doing the gastric by pass is not the same surgeon that did the lap band, whole different story there. I really liked the team, they really made me feel like I had a real support group at my back, and decided lets get it done and move on with my life.
