    headache

I get bad menstrual headaches and Tylenol wasn't cutting it. I went to my doctor and he ordered tramadol. It's a pain med stronger than Tylenol without any anti inflammatory stuff in it.

Not sure about having a bypass

I had a band to bypass revision and am 1000 times happier with the RNY. I feel like a smaller portioned normal person. Not eat and pray I can vomit quietly without ruining anyone else's dinner. The band may be technically less invasive, it causes nasty problems. Loving RNY.
  3. You're a talented hair stylist. I cut my own bangs once and looked like a cabbage patch doll. You look awesome.

    How about some NSVs!?!?

I love my collar bones! I keep touching them to find out if they are always there! Lol. When I run at the gym there is a mirror across the gym and I keep looking at my collar bones and thinking I am seeing things! I love them.

    quick question.

I threw up blood twice post OP. They gave me medicine, thrombus, to drink and it stopped. It freaked me out so much!

Has any one had gout after surgery?

Thank you, mine isn't like that and I have no redness or swelling.

    Am I Over-Reacting?

Your post could have been mine... I put my scale away in the closet this week, and have washed my hands of it. I am doing everything exactly as I should, including exercising faithfully, and have seen a slow loss. However, since I am doing everything correctly, it makes sense that I have to lose weight eventually, and I can't let the scale become a derailment.

Has any one had gout after surgery?

Ironically, I am pretty sure you would have to avoid high intakes of protein. This topic has me curious- my great toe has been hurting terribly for about a month now. It hurts like an ingrown nail but I had my roots cut years ago due to excessive ingrowns- I can bear weight but the toe hurts plenty- maybe I have gout?

    just a few questions

I felt real hunger 1.5 weeks out from surgery, and it is definitely not head hunger, I get that too and there is a big difference. I eat every 3 hours and deal with it. It certainly is surprising though, most people I know are not hungry after RNY but I do know, in real life, some that do get hungry. I mentioned it to my surgeon and she just said "it happens".
  10. I just want a bmi in the healthy range, once there, I don't care what my weight is.

    8 months out

You look awesome! Congrats to you! I am 2 months out and hope to lose 100lbs in 8 months, that would be freakin awesome.

    Soooo Exhausted

I second Sparklette, I would have my doc check me for anemia.

What do you wear while losing?

I'm not into dresses much, but may need to give them a try. I have fallen out of last summer's clothes and don't want to buy more clothes as I still need expensive plus size clothes that I will soon fall out of. I thought I would be cool wearing big clothes but now that it's happening I want everyone to see it as well!
  14. I eat turkey pepperoni and cheese sticks when I am on the go (at work) and just need a quick snack- no carbs and great for adding protein! Also, I know you said you don't care for protein bars but have you tried south beach whipped pb bars? I think it's 7g protein, 100 cal's, and is delicious. I only allow myself to have one just prior to working out but if you are looking for a quality snack, they are worth trying. 35lbs in 6 weeks seems really good to me, that's exactly what I lost too!

    Younger Guys (25-)

I wish I could answer the question asked, but I am 5'10, started at 339 pre-op, and my goal is 175, which gives me a normal BMI. My doctor's all feel it is a reasonable goal.
  16. Yes, I was a huge banded sugar addict. People who were never banded don't understand that having the band and being a sugar addict is no different than failing to follow a traditional diet. The only thing stopping banded people from sugar is their willpower, which is obviously not very good. The RNY is totally different. Don't follow the rules? Get miserably sick. I was converted to RNY 5/1/13 and have completely avoided sugar since then, and have no cravings for it. I have stuck to my diet exactly as told, with one exception. The other day I tried a piece of bacon and was so nauseous I had to leave my mother in laws and go get zofran. I learned, and won't do it again. Pre-op I had the same reservations as you, but post-op there is no comparing band to bypass, and I would encourage any struggling bandsters to consider revision.

    Lady Business.

Thanks for the heads up, luckily the one I use is NSAID free. I would be miserable without it right now!

    Lady Business.

Glad for this topic- just started my period yesterday, my first since surgery 5/1, and it is awful. I have never had such horrible cramps and hip aches. It woke me up overnight, and I have been taking pamprin every 4 hours just to dull the pain. It is awful. I can't wait for this to iron itself out.

    Slow weight loss

The theme around here is that the less you weigh initially, the slower you lose. Is that your case? Either way, as someone else said, when did you last lose 21lbs that quickly, it is an achievement. Good luck to you.

    Regret

Make sure you're not dehydrated, I always feel like death when I am dehydrated and noticed since surgery it happens very quickly. I work 12 hr shifts as a nurse, and often don't have the time to eat like I should. But yesterday I was really crazy busy, and made my body go on 2 oz of chicken for 8 hours until I finally realized that the reason I was about to fall asleep standing was that my body ran out of fuel. Finally I asserted myself and said I will be eating at the desk, get me if there is an emergency, but not for anything else. I need 30minutes and then will play catch up if I have to.

    1st day at training for a 5k

I started it last week, and this time I will finish it. I have started it many times before, but I never lost weight so the longer than jogging time, the harder it became. Now each week I will be getting thinner and the jogging will be a little less like a torture regime and more fun. But, many years ago, at my highest weight ever ~380lbs, I tried to do the elliptical, and made it for 5 minutes before I thought dying would be the easiest way off said elliptical. Eventually I was able to do it for an hour and barely broke a sweat. My long winded point- just keep doing what you can handle, push yourself a tiny bit more each time and you will be running a 5k before you know it!
  23. couch to 5k, you can find the program online and do it in your neighborhood. I started it last week to help give me some focus.

    Eating two weeks post op

Just when I felt like I couldn't handle puree anymore I re-read the list of ok'd items and noticed I could have scrambled eggs- those saved me! I ate them 2x a day until I moved on up the line (now I hate them...) But, my point is that be sure to thoroughly read your list, maybe you missed something that would help you through. The puree period sucks!!
