What Was Your Starting Weight?
lmmp01 replied to Mid West's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, yes I have ! I hit the thin and crispy. I paid with minor dumping , but it was worth it! I certainly didn't eat very much... Just eat slow and chew!! -

Post Op paranoia and questions

I never expected the amount of pain during recovery from the RNY. I think if you are having back pain you should put a call in to your surgeon. My surgeon swore that my lower abdomen pain was not related to surgery, but changed his opinion on my next follow up. So who knows, but my primary care doc and I were positive that it was related, and relieved that it resolved itself. The most important part is that you remain aware and follow up with anything that does not feel right. I'm taking Multivitamins, B-12, and Calcium and have not had any problems energy related. I had this pain (super bad) in my lower left abdomen, and walked around guarding my side because I was sure it would kill me if anyone bumped into me. My doctors solution was to take drugs to not feel it. It would wake me up in the night if I moved , one time it literally made me cry out loud. The pain lasted for two weeks, i took drugs once a day while at work, the took two before bed. After exactly two weeks it just stopped.

I am having the same issues, and can eat a good bit (I.e. A whole Peanut Butter sandwich). I'm full for a couple of hours, then an ready to eat again! I have lost about 40 pounds, but only 20 post surgery. I dump rather routinely, but eating too quickly most likely allows more food, and potential for dumping. Primarily a problem when I am at home, then I just shut my eyes and lay down until the nausea and dizziness are gone! I routinely wonder if I have stretched mine out as well... Had to quit one month prior for the lap band. I'm now scheduled for bypass on July 1st. They can tell by your labs if you have nicotine in your body. You do not heal as well when smoking (main concern is probably being on the vent during surgery and how you handle your oxygen levels when they remove you from the vent).
