How long were you sore, tired, etc?

Are you getting all of your Protein and Water in? If you are not, that will cause you to feel worn out. Also not getting you Vitamins in will make you feel worn out. These three things are critical! As for feeling sore, everybody is different, but I was back to work in two weeks and not sore at all, but I was careful. If you are still having pain, I would call your clinic first thing tomorrow. I hope you feel much better soon! RNY 6/25/13; HW 331; SW 291; CW 252; GW 150

    June Post Ops!

I am just past 7 weeks - will be 8 weeks on Tuesday. My clinic has a very limited eating plan - at least compared to what I read many are eating here. I am to get between 50 - 60 grams of protein and at least 68 ounces of water. I am told not to pay attention to calories, but I am usually just over 300 a day. I am only allowed 3, 1/4 cup meals a day with no snacks. I split a 30 gram protein shake, half in the morning and half at night. I have found an easy lunch to be a low fat mozzarella string cheese stick. I would recommend contacting your NUT and finding out their recommendations.

Good for you to get a workout in on a day that must have at times felt like you were going through hell!!! Amazing how doing something for yourself can really turn a day around!

Confession time: Prior to RNY, I LOVED ice cream. I ate a bowl every night right before bed. In April, when I began dieting in earnest, I went to a low calorie ice cream bar. That was okay, except it was so small. Since the three weeks leading up to surgery, I have not had even one small bite of any kind of frozen treat - that would be since early June. I have begun to dream about ice cream!! The last few nights, I have had the most vivid dreams about ice cream cones, shakes, or dishes of ice cream. I AM STRONGER THAN THIS!!!! Tonight I am going to dig out my copy of 50 Shades and see if I can get my subconscious to think about something other that ice cream!!!

Me too! The best weight loss tool I have ever found. I think it will be vital when I get to the maintenance stage.

RJ - So glad to hear you are feeling better!! I have not experienced dumping yet, but I have not eaten anything that could potentially cause it either. I am sure my day is coming! Just another not so much fun part of this journey we are all on. At least we have some good folks to travel it with us!!

SO sorry this happened! I am glad it is getting better.
  10. Sleeve was also a possibility for me. I didn't like the idea of having to purchase expensive special Vitamins. I also liked the fact that RNY had been around and tested for many decades. Finally my surgeon would have done the sleeve as an open procedure, and I really wanted laproscopic. I know it is more successful with big weight loss, and I know that patients don't seem to gain as much weight back, but I am hoping that I can make my pouch work for me. With my clinics plan vegies are non existent! I only get 3 meals, no snacks, and the meals are 1 ounce of protein and 1 TBSP of a fruit, cooked veggie, or starch. I also get one protien shake a day. I will be glad when I move from the 1/4 cup per meal to a 1/2 cup per meal. Unfortunately, that won't be until the end of September! I have not had a vegetable yet!

AS OF THIS MORNING I AM DOWN 70 POUNDS!! Sometimes it feels like the scale is moving so slowly, it is easy to forget how far I have come. I really didn't start trying to lose until mid April, and today I am 6 weeks post surgery. I still have a very long way to go, but for the first time in years, I feel like I have a chance of making this work!! HW: 330; SW: 291; CW: 261; GW: 150; RNY: 6/25/13
  13. I would agree with everything above, and will add this week I attended a professional conference held at a local college. When sitting in the auditorium, I not only fit in the seat without spilling over into my neighbor's, I had room to spare! GREAT FEELING!!

I cleaned mine out last weekend. I was approaching 65 pounds, and there was no way I was going to wear most of it. I especially knew the winter stuff I would never wear again. I have saved totes of smaller clothes as I gained. It is nice to dig them out, and at least have a start - even if many of them are more than 10 years old!!

I am going to hit Goodwill and Savers for now - we have other second hand stores as well. If I need something for an event, I will splurge, but don't want to put much money into clothes at this point. I have also found good deals at Kohls on clearance.

    A Little Too Skinny

DO: Great thread. I am new to life after RNY. My surgery was 6/25/13. However I am NOT new to weight loss. Over my 48 years I have probably gained and lost hundreds of pounds. I know that a very important tool to success is using a food diary. In the past, doing so was so much work that after a few weeks or months I would give up - and, of course, gain the weight back. MFP makes it so easy. 3 months prior to surgery I found MFP - it helped me lose 39 pounds prior to surgery. I use it every day and track everything! Because it is so easy - AND FREE - I can see myself using it for years to come. Again, thanks for this thread - I will be watching for new installments, and praying for the day that I face your current issue!!

I actually start the day with fluids. I have 1/2 a protein shake and a bottle of Propel. I don't actually eat my breakfast, which is usually Greek Yogurt, until mid-morning. Then 30 minutes after I finish the yogurt, I begin drinking water. My day also ends with fluids, I finish the protein shake, and drink more water. I also find that working out helps because it makes you thirsty. By the way, I use Premiere Protein shakes. They have 30 grams of protein and are sold only at Cosco and Sam's Club. I hope this helps - Good luck and keep trying!! RNY 6/25/13; HW 330; SW 291; CW 264; GW 150

    That moment when...

I love this! Here are a couple more... After a day spent walking around, your knees don't hurt. You realize you have $200 left in the checking account because you haven't eaten out this month.

I celebrated a month out on the 25th. I am down 65 pounds as of today! I spent my afternoon cleaning the clothes out of my closet that I will never wear again because they are all just too big to wear. I can't wait to loose enough to do it again! HW: 330; SW: 291; CW: 265; GW: 150
