On Friday morning, While I was doing my morning walk I thought about this thread.
I was walking down the street, and contemplating moving a little faster, moving more of my body, progressing. I picked two points in the road ahead of me, about 100 feet apart, and made a deal with myself. I said "Okay, we're going to run starting on the first point and we're going to make it to that second point." And I considered this idea, the first point coming up as I'm still walking forward, and just said okay.
So, I did it, I started running, and it was really weird at first, then I got in to a good rhythm, and it was easy. I went past the second point, and ran until I was out of breath. It was pretty cool actually. I was really proud of myself.

Thanks. I just downloaded the C25k app and will start tomorrow after work. I think I'll do it on the street rather than the treadmill. Appreciate the support. I will let you know how it goes!!

I was so jazzed about being able to fit into my old watch (funny--you never think of your wrists getting fat, but they do) that I wore it for three days before I realized the battery was dead. LOL!

I rocked a size medium BeBe's summer dress yesterday. I haven't been in a medium since Jr High and I've NEVER in my life been able to fit in ANYTHING from BeBe's.

Oh my dear, it's so variable! I'm 4 months post and down 45, I seem to be losing slow compared to most on here but I have no problems with any food and I feel great so I'll take it! I'm 5'6, started at 255, shooting for 150, currently 210. I am a revision from a lap band and was warned revisions tend to lose slower... I highly recommend not comparing our journey to others though,it'll drive you crazy!!!!!
    Good luck!!!!!

I had RNY Aug 13, 2012.... I didnt have a struggle at all from day one. I have not been tired (as a matter of fact I cant seem to stop! My family has to make me sit down at times!), I eat good healthy foods (not in mass quantity anymore, but enough to fuel my body instead) I dont have any Vitamin problems. Not everyone has issues. Some of us have the surgery and do very well.
I hope you make a decision based on what is right for you. It's not an easy way out I promise, but for your health it could be the best.
    Good luck!

In my WLS support group there are a bunch of ladies who have had the sleeve and are disappointed with their progress. I don't think I've actually met a person who has had the sleeve and have met their goal. Just throwing that out there.
But if you are having second thoughts, and are not 100% committed to this lifestyle change, (because it is a huge change) then I would recommend holding off.
Gastric Bypass has completely changed my life, I can honestly say that this is the best decision that I have ever made for myself. It's hard, don't get me wrong there are struggles all the time; but looking in the mirror, and seeing the subtle changes makes it all worth while. Imagining the future I can have, imagining the children I could have (I had pcos and it was next to impossible to carry a baby with the amount of weight I was carrying) makes all the struggles seem minuscule.
This surgery isn't for everyone, and I hope you find what you're looking for. Best of luck on what ever you choose.

Statistically speaking, RNY is the most effective treatment known to medical science for the treatment of obesity and more than 30 comorbidities associated with obesity including type 2 diabetes, hypertension and sleep apnea. Surgery, any surgery, has associated risks and RNY is no exception. There simply are no absolutes. Do the research. Choose your sources carefully - ASMBS, Harvard Health, National Institute of Health, mayo Clinics - just to name a few. I think that you will find that the odds are overwhelmingly in your favor of having a life-changing experience that you will never regret. You're gonna love the new you!!

Most of you know my story... Had surgery 02-21-12. Weighed in at a whopping 340 lbs. today I stepped on the scale and weighed 147. For a total weight loss of 193 lbs. I can't begin to express how much this surgery has changed my life.... For the better!! For those of you just starting out... This can be done you just have to stay vigilant to the program and be patient. For those of you still fighting for every pound you are having to lose... Keep fighting. I love this forum more then anyone can believe. It has kept me on the straight and narrow and allowed me to help others

I leave Friday morning for a week in the Florida Keys...I am not stressed about sitting next to a stranger on the plane and worrying about my flab busting over the seat and touching them. I have a new size 14 bathing suit that looks adorable on me and makes my waist look tiny and my boobs look great. I'm going parasailing with my 9 year old and am not freaked out about looking like a flying whale....I'm not worried I'll get too hot or have to take a break from walking. I am just happy and excited and feel like a kid at Christmas
I'm almost 1/2 way to goal, about 60 pounds to go and I feel like, for the first time ever, I'm living my life and not just watching it go by because I'm fat and insecure. Life...is....good...

A while back I put together a list of high Protein foods. If you post or PM me your email address I'd be glad to send it to you. Forum rules don't allow me to post the Excel file. I've sent it to dozens of folks on the forum.
It's difficult to get all of your Protein without some kind of supplement but hopefully you'll find some things here that will help!

You also might try getting the unflavored protein powder. First thing in the morning, put a scoop of the powder in a small bowl. Depending on the powder, one scoop is 20g or more of protein. When you eat or drink something, put a pinch of the protein powder in. You can add it to almost anything and if it's just a pinch, you shouldn't notice the taste too much. By the end of the day you've eaten an additional 20g of protein, a pinch at a time.

Trying anything you can think of until you're getting all of your protein in every day is well worth the effort. Unlike fat or starches, your body cannot store protein and the nine "essential" amino acids must be obtained from food - the body cannot manufacture them. That means they need to be replenished every day. It's quite important for faster healing, increased energy, reducing hair loss, preserving lean muscle tissue and protection from bacterial and viral infections. You're gonna love the new you!!
