Hello Morgan. Congrats on your new journey and hope your feeling better soon! My surgery is scheduled for June 18th, 2013. I am also in NJ. Are you in Hamilton, Mercer County? I was born and raised in Ewing. I have been living in South Jersey with my boyfriend for the past several years, but the rest of my family is still in Ewing. I work in Hamilton. I am having my surgery at Cooper Hospital in Camden. Nice meeting you, and wishing you much success!!

I feel your pain on this one! I am/was a smoker for many years. Recently quit due to this surgery and a healthier lifestyle. I am not going to lie I have slipped up a few times, but I am trying my hardest! If you don't mind me asking, how long did you have to be smoke free before your surgery? I am scheduled for surgery June 18th, and they want you to be smoke free for 3 to 6 months or they won't do the surgery. Trust me I know it's for the better but my god, talk about life changes, lol! I am like, how the heck can I do both at that same time? My job is very stressful as well, just like everyday life! I have a very low dose electronic cig that I will puff on from time to time just to take the edge off, I am sure that's not acceptable but better than having a real one and keeps me sane, lol!! I am curious as well with the electronic ones after surgery, I will ask my surgeon and keep you posted! Best of luck to you!! :-)

First Day Pre Op Diet
Choochalina replied to Jacqueline K's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ugh, that's the worst! Between being hungry, the smell, and seeing it, OMG!! I am very proud of you for hanging in there, it's NOT easy. Just goes to show you can do it!! Sounds like a good idea to just remove yourself from the situation, easy no but will be all worth it! That's going to be hard for me as well, I'll be right where u are very soon! Hang in there, keep up the good work! :-) -
June 18th :-)

Go to the ER! Could be a blockage!! Feel better soon!!

Ok, sounds good! Best of luck! Feel better soon! :-)

I would keep calling and calling or maybe think about going to the ER. Is your leg swollen and or do you have redness? I know the main concern with the legs is clots. That's nothing to play around with. Feeling light headed could be from numerous things but just having major surgery I would be concerned as well. Sure hope you feel better soon! Keep us posted!

I haven't had my surgery yet, but sounds to me like you need to contact your Dr ASAP. Hope your feeling better real soon! Keeping you in my prayers! Keep us posted. Best of luck!

What happens at the pulmonary appointment?
Choochalina replied to PittGuy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello all. I had my pulmonary function test a few weeks ago and just like the other posts it was no biggie, for me anyway. Just like some of you, I had myself nervous and it wind up being no big deal, a little tiresome at times. For one I have been a smoker for many years and that worried me but I passed with flying colors, thank god! Mine was much like the previous posts. I was placed in a glass box, looked like a telephone booth, it had a chair, mouthpiece and all kinds of tubes coming in and out of it. I had to do several different breathing tests, most of it was done with the door open, some were done with the door closed, I believe that is when they changed the air pressure. It was a lot of breathing in and out, shallow and very deeply, panting, holding your breathing, and completely emptying your lungs. A lot of deep breaths in, and blowing it out until they tell you to stop. They also did a asthma test on me as well, which I am happy to say I don't have. The whole test took about a hour. You will all do just fine, I am sure! It looks more scary than what it really is. Best of luck, keep us posted on how you make out!! :-) -
Ok, thank you very much for the info, sorry about that.

Can you delete a thread after you post it? Mine posted 3 times? Thank you.

Hello everyone! I am new to this forum. My surgery date is June 18, 2013. I have my pre-admission testing June 3rd, my last appointment with the surgeon on June 10th. I start my 'lovely' liquid diet on June 4th. Two weeks of protein shakes and clear liquids, yummy, I can't wait, LOL! I just hope I can get through these two weeks! I am really glad I found this group. Lots of useful information, lots of support (which I am going to need), and GREAT people! I have been reading through a lot of different threads, and I am so glad to see so many have the same questions and concerns as myself. I am looking forward to becoming more involved in discussions with all of you. Any suggestions, advice, comments would be much appreciated. Congrats and best of luck to all on continued success in this journey, and best of luck to those just beginning ????
