    Hmmmm...so it's begun...

2 Flintstones complete chewable were recommended to me by my nutritionist. They definitely made that part easier. If u are able to swallow pills I get my calcium citrate at Walgreens. They have petite pills. I take 2 of those 2x a day. sugar free Popsicles are great and count as fluids. I know it's winter but I had a snow cone machine from my kiddo and had the sugar free flavoring and it helped also. sublingual b12 and they also have a prescription intranasal b12 spray. The 1st part of my recovery was tedious just like you described. It was hard cause I didn't know how I would ever make it work. Nothing tasted good and nothing sounded good. Wasn't even hungry. Water with lemon and decaf tea with Splenda were some of my Fluid choices. I also liked the sugar free hot chocolate. Hope this helps. Keep your head up...this too shall pass

    Time off work

2 weeks off from work but honestly I didn't go back fill time. The hardest thing I faced was the fatigue I felt immediately post op. I'm a nurse so not a lot of time to stay still and I would feel so drained at 1st. The pain issue wasn't that awful I just was tired. Thankfully it passed and I was back to running circles around the office.

    What they didnt tell me.......

Sorry to hear you have had a bad experience. Wls can be such a wonderful thing for most of us but it's good to get a reminder this surgery has risks. It's definitely something anyone pre op should balance in with making such a life altering choice. Good luck to you!

    Hmmmm...so it's begun...

Hi! This is a great place to make friends! It is a hard road getting started indeed! The best thing I've learned is this too shall pass when the rocky patches come. Anytime you need any help or wanna vent there is all these amazing people here willing to share a wealth of knowledge and ideas. Congrats on your surgery and by this time in 1 year I think you will be so amazed how much life has changed.

It's been very hard staying with the tons of family in and out at my parents. Has has no particularly good time to strike.

    Your Voice?

That could very well be from the anesthesia. It's common from the breathing tube they intubate you with to cause some irritation. I had another surgery in October and it was very bad that time. Salt water gargles and throat drops might help. Good luck!

    "Operation Operation"

Awesome!! Super jealous it took me 8 whole days post op before that joy came! You are a riot! Keep us posted!
  9. I think I need to try this. I just need to get past the whole cottage cheese thing 1st. I tried tasting it before and kinda grossed me out. I may try tho. Thanks for sharing.

    I cant believe it

Congrats!!! It's honestly the best feeling!!!
  11. I needed to have consequences! I'm weak and a sugar addict. I knew if given half a chance I would cheat. Rny provided the biggest lifestyle change. I knew I needed to be forced to face something not so great or I'd eat just like before. Also the idea it was the gold standard of wls made me feel more confident.

    Help! I can't sleep.

My Dr suggested Benadryl. I've battled insomnia for awhile and post op it's became worse.

    Gastric bypass twice?

I'm not sure of a lot of statistics with revision but I do recall some info about the 5 day pouch test which is supposed to help get you back on track. Good luck!

    Vitamin Question For Veterans

My surgeon had said after 1 month I could try whole. I tried smaller ones and no problem then got braver and have been ok since. Different surgeons tell you different things so of course consult yours and go with what he/she tells you and you feel comfortable with. I've also heard of people being given whole pill form while inpatient post rny so..? I honestly have chewed a pull after my 1 month mark.

    Losers bench

Sounds like you have been through a lot! Hopefully you are on the mend now. I'm not sure about your surgery post diet plan as it generally varies by surgeons. If the cod fish was too heavy maybe try a bit more soft or mush for a little while longer. We all heal differently and maybe your new pouch isn't ready just quiet yet. Again maybe surgeons have different plans of progressing through the stages of liquids, mushy, soft, and solids. The World according to Eggface is another site you can find by using google. She has a lot of great bariatric ideas and recipes.
  17. Listen to your instincts. I'm a firm believer that we all should listen to that. The fact you have doubts is enough to put things on hold. I say just research the heck out of everything and make sure you feel confident in your decision and what you are willing to accept for the rest of your life. There are plenty of pros and cons to be weighed about each procedure. I can honestly say I've never regretted my choice but that was just it, my choice. A knowledgable surgeon and also a therapist may be perfect people to consult with. Good luck with whatever you decide. Wishing you good weight loss success

    4 Days Post Op :(

Sorry to hear you aren't feeling so good. It indeed is a big change and can just totally take a lot out of you. The good news is this usually passes! It even became my mantra over time.."This too shall pass." I've got to say you have come to an awesome group for support. Anytime you feel down or just need to ask questions we are here. We pretty much all know how things can feel overwhelming at 1st. The main thing right now is getting your fluids in. The rest is a learning curve that comes. Wishing you a speedy recovery

What 3 things do u wish u had been told?

I had to stop and think about this cause honestly there was a lot. 1) Head hunger is real! Controlling the appetite it's self is truly a blessing but I've had to learn to control my mind and the brain wanting things. 2) Emotional upheaval is normal. I thought something was wrong with me when I was all weepy and had no clue why. Mood swings come but they do get better. 3) Always stay on top of constipation. It is a daily factor in life now.

    April 2013 Post-Op Group

I've tried wine... Wasn't bad..just hit me very fast!! I have half heartedly logged my food the last few days. I had a protein shake and I had my hubby also pick up some jerky. We are staying with family for awhile in between locations so it's harder than when I'm home. I gotta stop eating the terrible stuff they eat!

    constant bubbling

I have it. Usually when consumed a lot of fluids I will hear it. It's weird sounding and I swear sometimes I feel the bubbly feeling.

    April 2013 Post-Op Group

Well..might as well confess I've been pretty bad. It's been way too much of a temptation around me. Not for the sweets as I'm still gunshy after the dumping episode I had but just grazing which I know isn't good at all. Staying with my family is kinda like a constant battle with my food intake. Going to buy some more protein rich items as I'm defiantly not exactly getting enough in while here. It kinda makes me wonder if I can ever get back on track cause I feel so badly derailed. It's almost like the sinking and drowning feeling but still trying to swim my way out. Thanks for letting me vent!

    What Is....

I love veggies so much I do have to make sure I do the protein push 1st or I'd live on veggies. Chili from Wendy's is another saving grace on the run for me too. I tried turkey today also and the turkey didn't sit well.
  24. Thanks for sharing! Definitely very motivating!!!
