Trying to post but it's acting crazy! -
I love compliments. It has came across from 1 or 2 tho almost condescending. I didn't like it then. I am starting to get the whole,"Don't lose any more cause you will be sick" or the " You have lost too much" kinda deal. Mainly just from the larger people. I like to remind myself it's how I know I have pretty much arrived with my success in my surgery. Also..people get jealous sometimes, some truly are interested, some think they have an emotional interest vested. I just think...I'm doing this! It worked!

I stayed for over 2 days before being released. As for work..I took 3 weeks off cause I'm a nurse and my job was always hectic and crazy. I might could have managed a desk type deal but I was pooped for awhile afterwards.

Did a 16 hour road trip about a month after. It was a long drive and the dr had us stop very 2 hours to reduce the chance of clots. I had premade protein shakes in a cooler, water, and a few other snacks I could tolerate. It wasn't easy but it was doable. International might be a tad more difficult.

It's a app that we use to keep food logs, set goals, Cheer on friends, keep track of water intake and exercise and a bunch more. You can download on smart phone app stores and I believe that you can even use it online as the site itself. I have just always used the app. It's great for setting goals and adjusting food intake however you need it to keep weight in check. As a bariatric patient it helps me so much make sure I am getting my protein in. It does allow you to see a breakdown of everything such as fat, proteins, and carbs on a daily and even weekly basis. A lot of us use it and I know I definitely appreciate being able to find pretty much any and everything food wise I intake.

I'm akmjustice u can add me. I love having friends and support. It also is great when u can gauge what others around u are eating and doing exercise wise.

They are dissolvable thin strips located by the regular gas x tabs. Can find them pretty much at any cvs or walgreens. I used them. Not sure if they are the most helpful thing but lord knows almost 7 months post I'm still using them...or my husband would chase me outta my house!

Op..I hope you get the support you need. You have come to a pretty good place. This journey is hard enough without having a solid support system at home. Hopefully you can get some of the support u need here. Prayers that things get better for u.

We close on our house in a week. The movers come this wed to get stuff. We don't actually leave for Denver til the 1st part of Jan so puts us scrambling to get all we need for a month packed away and out from where the movers would take it. We stay in a short term rental for that month. I guess selling your house early is a good prob to have it's just kinda a bit extra effort. That and having to go through crap is annoying. Certain things they won't move and I have to go through papers. I'm ready for a break! -

I get bored a lot also with meals. I have started making taco meat with low fat cheese, salsa, dab of sour cream, and green chilis. That's my new fav. I'm so burned out on yogurt and cheese. I've started eating more meant like grilled pork chop, thinly sliced flank steak etc. I'm 8lb from my personal goal. See my surgeon Wednesday to see how I'm doing and get labs. Will be my last visit there as we are moving. We pack this week and the movers come Wed. Trying hard not to fall prey to the grab and eat something on the go. -
Nurses As Bariatric Patients
ajustice replied to LynRN's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I'm another nurse that had wls. I know quiet a few other nurses who have had wls as well. The hours, the grab and go whatever was quick, the stress..all of those things kinda made it harder. I think I felt more comfortable deciding on wls because of the high rate of success. I would sometimes speak with bariatric patients as well and loved to hear their views and just the difference that was made in their lives. For me I knew I wasn't setting a wonderful example for not only my family but also my patients. I've always cared for others and very rarely cared for myself. I knew that had to stop or the train wreck health issues I had starting up would continue to spiral out of control. -
