My surgery is tomorrow too, was very emotional yesterday and horrid to my partner, but he understands that I'm stressed and its my way of coping with it all. Just hope I can sleep tonight. Need to be at 8.30 and surgery should be about 11.30 just hope it's not cancelled due to lack of beds! That would be my worst nightmare after doing the milk diet for two weeks! Good luck everyone xx

Bevy Boo replied to janel129's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good luck for Thursday, I should be able to come home either Thursday or Friday so looking forward to being home for the weekend. The hospital I'm going to is about 45 minutes from where I live and don't want to be lonely! I know family are coming to see me but that's only in visiting times :-( Bx -

Well, that was a sleep and a half! Not been sleeping to well as soon as I get in bed, my head starts going over everything that i need to do before I go in, which is Tuesday! OMG and thinking what if this doesn't work and I fail at this diet too, blah blah blah... But finally went to sleep about 1 this morning and finally woke up at 2.30 this afternoon. Think my body finally decided enough was enough and let me sleep! Does anyone else suffer with loose bowels on their pre-op diet and have an urge to go and rush to the loo? -
How do you feel about having the surgery? Sorry your not feeling too great, hopefully it will get better soon. Bx

Last day of pre op
Bevy Boo replied to norasinclair's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Milk diet is getting easier. I'm not allowed food of any sort. Need to have four pints of semi skimmed milk a day, two pints of low calorie squash, one salty drink like bovril, oxo or marmite and one sachet of sugar free jelly a day. An extra is three stick of sugar free chewing gum, but that makes me hungry so I don't bother with that. First few days were the hardest, headaches, nausea, tiredness bit it is getting better each day. Don't feel hungry anymore which is weird! Bx -

Hi Janel129. My surgery is May 28th too, need to be in hospital at 8.30am and surgery is scheduled for 11.30am. I'm from the UK and am on a pre-op diet too. Ours sounds different to yours though. We don't have the protein shakes you all seem to have. All I'm allowed a day is - 4 pints semi skimmed milk, at least 2 pints of low calorie squash, 1 sachet of sugar free jelly, 1 salty drink like bovril, oxo or marmite plus 3 sticks of sugar free chewing gum and that's it! The first few days were the hardest, had terrible headaches, nausea, tiredness but as time has gone on it does get easier. Good luck with your surgery. Bx -

I am due to have my RNY next Tuesday. My friends have been supportive. But it will change the dynamic of the group I feel. I have always been the biggest in our little group. Now I am having surgery, am hoping that will change eventually as I have a long way to go! However, my friends have also started on a diet, ok not as strict as the milk diet we have over here in England. They are doing weight watchers or slimming world. What I can't get me head around is why start dieting now? Is it, because like they say they are supporting me, or is it because THEY don't want to be the biggest in the group? Has anyone else had this sort of scenario where people you know have started on a diet when you have had/going to have WLS? I know I should support them with their weight loss too, but I just wonder why now?

Hi How did your surgery go? I'm in the uk too, I live in Basingstoke. My surgery is Tuesday 28th May! Just done my first week on the milk diet. It's getting easier day by day. Bx -
I like the idea of seeing how much weight you have lost, from how much of your toes and feet you can see!

Hi Kelly. I'm new to this site too. I'm having my bypass at end of May. So far, it seems everyone is different. I've not heard you can't eat carbs though. I know if you eat too much sugary stuff you get what is called dumping syndrome where you feel sick, dizzy light headed and flushed. Have you got a date for your op yet? Where about in England are you from? Bx

Hello All. I live in Basingstoke which is near Reading. I'm having my op in Portsmouth at Queen Alexandra Hospital. Getting used to the milk diet, not able to work while on it though :-( wanted to work through it. As I'm only on day three I'm hoping it will get easier and be able to go back before my op. Bx

Hi. It is strange how everyone seems to do different things before surgery. Reading the posts from people in America, there's all seems to be about protein shakes! Having difficulty finding any sort of groups locally to join up with for advice etc. Bx

Hello All. Am new to this site, I have my date and its the 28th May. I am in England and so far it seems that things are quite different over here. Am currently on a pre-op diet which consists of four pints of semi skimmed milk, two pints of low calorie squash and one sachet of sugar free jelly. I need to do this for two weeks as it reduces the size of the liver, so they can move it out the way to carry out the procedure. Good luck to everyone out there. Bx
