Confessions Of A Chocoholic
deaddemmama replied to patticake1448's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If doesn't trigger you and you're working out, I can't see it hurting... -
I also had a hard time the first weeks. I maybe had second thoughts.. After about eight weeks, things turned around, especially after I started walking. Depression after surgery is a side effect at times. You may feeling very differently in a short while.

Back your question....eating healthfully is our long term goal. I would ask yourself if your "cheats" are sabotaging this goal. For me, I couldn't cheat daily..it would trigger my food addiction. -
I also use unflavored in vitamin water..freeze until icy cold...gets rid of foam.

Just ate chips yesterday..I was at a class, and all snacks were unhealthy; usually I eat peanuts, but they were out. So, chips. Say, how many calories are you guys getting now? I'm still at 700-950 a day.Do you crave carbs ( like fruit) when you feel weak? I just can't seem to get in more calories...just measure, but can't physically eat all if it. Still doing protein shakes, and taking vitamins. -

Log your food intake...that way you know if your cheats are affecting your overall caloric intake. Just be careful that it doesn't increase in frequency or amount. I know that if I give myself and inch, I'm likely to take a mile. -

71...you're in for a rude awakening, I fear. A high of 6 on Wednesday...that's the HIGH... Crazy place to live. -
Love Virginia and DC...you could do DC for awhile for the learning and then head to the ocean for some beach fun. Or Yellowstone...beautiful with lots of cool nature stuff to fascinate kids.

I would move in an instant if not for my husband...change is not his thing. I've kind of adopted San Diego as my second home, and I keep checking their weather....sigh So expensive to buy a house there, though. 67 and sunny there today...snow and - 2 here. Maybe I'll live on the beach. -

The Downside Of Major Weight Loss
deaddemmama replied to TX Patty's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I worry, too, and have insecurities. I was once a very fit person, and I want my body to look the way it did 20 years ago...lol, not realistic! My husband says he's fine with my body just as he was fine when I was fat. He loves me, and I realize it's my insecurity that drives me crazy. -
I have no regrets at 8 1/2 months out. I think it's totally normal to have feelings of apprehension; it's a major life change. I just try to do it all one day at a time..if I thought of never being able to eat this again, ir how my recovery would go pre op, I felt anxious, but as long as I just focused on daily goals I was fine. This continues post op...I focus on daily goals and trust the process. It's worked so far.

Located in Wisconsin. I appreciate all the suggestions...it's funny, I haven't shopped in a regular store for so long, I feel lost in a mall! I always just went to Torrid or Lane Bryant. I'm going to dedicate a day to just browsing once the holidays are over! -

This surgeon was not well versed in the procedure. He sent me back to pain management so they can give me stronger drugs for emergencies, but pain management sent me to them in the first place. I burst into tears. anyway, I'm going to see the head of neurosurgery at the University if Wisconsin. Hopefully, they can figure out a way to help me that doesn't involve brain surgery, or at least they will be knowledgeable about the surgery. If not, I guess I'm saving to go to Pittsburgh. I'm getting scared. How are you feeling Dori? Is your leg feeling better? -

November 2013 Post Op
deaddemmama replied to Janifer's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Haven't tried isopure...I did try a bunch of brands before using unjury. Least offensive for me. I haven't had luck mixing full strength powder with pudding or grits, but I have a scoop ready everyday, and I add a little to everything...if the scoop is gone by the end of the day, I painlessly added 20g protein to my day. I add it to yogurt, cottage cheese, etc. It's a matter of taste; I wish I had an opportunity to sample more powders prior to surgery it would have saved me money. -
Just saw this old thread about miracle noodles..Trued them...awful, in my estimation. Also a pain to make. If I want pasta now, I have a few small bites of whole wheat..I still can't eat more than that, or my pouch hurts.
