So..medical update...I saw the head of neurosurgery at UW Wisconsin...he works in a team , so I'll be seeing a neurologist, an ENT and him. More tests, but they hope they can find a non surgical approach. Quite the difference from the other doctor who just said to live with it and sent me back to pain management. It goes to show how proactive we need to be with our health. -

Glad you're getting it checked out...weird about the hives! Could you be allergic to something your taking. I found out I was allergic to amoxicillin when I took for strep throat. -
Feeling deprived ... Does that go away?
deaddemmama replied to Mkmb2006's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You won't feel physically deprived after surgery...you might experience " head hunger" from time to time but if you stick to the plan you'll be fine. One thing that helped me was cooking really good bariatric food...I use really good ingredients and glean recipes from all over the internet. My kids got me a bariatric cook book, and I use it all the time. When I experience head hunger, I find a new recipes. If you cook, it's a good chance to be really creative. -
Wow! I'd kill to see some of that stuff! Still the greatest team ever!

Depression & Anti-Depressants
deaddemmama replied to Batcap's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I have had clinical depression for thirty years..my psych consult was no big deal. They just wanted to have assurance that my depression was under control. I did have to take my meds differently post rny..had to open capsules, etc. and they're still tweaking my sleep meds...the extended release does not work, so I don't sleep through the night very well. It is important to stay in contact with mental health professionals, as post RNY depression us well documented. -
I'm back after 7 years... here's my story
deaddemmama replied to crazy8's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good for you! I appreciate your courage and honesty.. I think many if us have a food addiction, and this relationship with food has to change whether we have surgery or not.. RNY is a good tool for me as I now examine why I wanted to eat compulsively, and I now deal with emotions rather than stuffing them with food. Working with a counselor and support group really helps me. I hope your RNY goes well, and that you find an answer to your other pain issues as well. -

Please tell me what you eat?
deaddemmama replied to Mid West's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Breakfast: 2 oz.low fat string cheese.. Or 2 eggs. 4 oz. Yogurt Lunch: 3 to 4 oz Protein...1/4 c. Veggies Dinner: 3 to 4 oz. Protein, 1/4 c veggies...1 to 2 oz carbs, if I have room Snack: I usually measure 1/2 c. Nuts to eat throughout the day I also drink 2 Protein shakes as snack 64 to 80 oz Water or crystal light The only carbs I eat are complex carbs like quinoa, sweet potatoes, etc. I can't eat more than 1 to 1 1/2 at a time unless it's a slider food like yogurt or Soup., so I still supplement with protein in crystal light or Vitamin water to make sure I get enough protein. I get 800 to 900 calories a day, plus another 200 to 300 from protein supplements. Per my dr and nutritionist, I don't eat sugar at all. -

Anyone Had To Have Revision Surgery Post Bypass?
deaddemmama replied to Mid West's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Maybe just eat protein ...chicken, fish, etc...weird that you can eat... Does your dr.s plan allow you to eat such a wide variety if foods? I was told to avoid sugars like chocolate for as long as possible. Hope you find an answer. -

Moving and baking? You're a superwoman...I decided to forget cookies this year...I spend a ridiculous amount of money baking, and no one in our family needs the calories..least of all me. I'll just do some candy and make dessert for Christmas. I'm already getting flak for not baking...that's usually breakfast on Christmas morning. Maybe I'll do brunch instead. Egg bake and German pancake with buttermilk syrup. -
Feel free to use any recipes I've posted... Kris Maguire

Anyone Had To Have Revision Surgery Post Bypass?

I would recommend tracking and measuring your food...it's puzzling that you can eat so much...are you eating past the point if feeling comfortable? It took me awhile to learn what full felt like.. -

Cashew brittle: 2 c sugar 1 c light corn syrup 1/2 c Water 1 c butter 3 c cashews 1 t baking soda Butter 2 cookie sheets In a large saucepan combine sugar, water, and syrup. Cook over medium heat until sugar dissolved. Bring to a boil, add butter Stir often when syrup is about 230 degrees.. New to these forums, day 4 after surgery
deaddemmama replied to tkelizabeth's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I drank protein in just about all my liquids at first...I still do 2 protein drinks everyday...had surgery on 4/29. I rapidly switched to unflavored protein so I could add it to crystal light...protein and liquids all in one. Flavored shakes were just too thick for me...I couldn't stomach 4 sweet shakes a day. -
