I am scheduled for my bypass on 2/17. I am looking for other vegans to help me. I am currently a vegetarian but want to make the jump to veganism when I have the surgery. Anyone know of any support groups or individuals willing to help? Thanks.

I cannot wait to get this damn band out and get the RNY. Last night I made salmon for dinner and it was getting stuck with every bite. So annoying. I hate the band. I can't eat salmon but can eat peanut m&m's. Surgery is 2/17!

Hello. I was banded May 2010 and lost 80 of 200 lbs. I have since gained all my weight and then some. I went through the insurance process to get approved and was denied because I had a previous WLS. I am appealing the denial by the insurance company. My husband is a union plumber and the ins is through the union. When I was denied I was told that I could appeal the decision in front of the board of trustees. Tomorrow I am going to the meeting and will plead my case to them. The only chance I have at approval is that the only WLS that was allowed by ins at the time of my decision was the Lapband. Now gastric bypass and Lapband is approved. I was not given an option. The better option (based on my food addiction) would have been bypass. Do you think I have a leg to stand on? I am so nervous that these people will judge me.

You don't think they will approve it?

I had seurgery for the Lapband May 2010. I lost 80 lbs and have gained it back plus more. I called my ins and they said that bypass is covered (it wasn't at the time of my band). I have completed all my requirements needed in order to be considered for the surgery but today I found out that the ins only pays for one WLS per lifetime. Will I have a chance if I appeal? The denial has NOT been received yet and I am hoping that it will still be approved based on all the documentation. Any ideas? Thoughts?
