Need some exercise ideas for patients with RA
marymcg62 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I m in need of some advice this week when I got large-scale I lost no weight at all . I have to admit I was discouraged, even though I've lost 96lbs. This was a stressful week, my mom had open heart surgery & I was eating out of stress , grazing, you know, not hungry but always eating something. So I want to change that bad old habit into a healthier one, like doing some exercise, only I have chronic RA & fibromyalgia, so I need something that will be easy on the joints. Any suggestions will be welcome. Thank & Peace,Mary -
16grams,I've had no problems digesting this drink, no dumping syndrome, if that's what you're worried about, although I've only tried the vanilla flavor. Hop this helps. Peace

Are you taking all the vitiams your suppose to? Unfortunately I get sick on them ,so I been to get more protein in my diet, I just tried the Special K protein drinks, they have 20grams of protein per drink bottle. It's kind of pricey $5.98 for a 4 pack. It comes in vannila, strawberry & chocolate. I hope this helps .

My Dr's told me to toast the bread, but I still have trouble digesting it, so I eat wheat saltiness in place of bread.

Anyway smells get to me as well especially onions if I could wear a mask I would, not only do I get a headache but it makes me nauseousI also have a problem with foods not tasting like they used to. Anyone else with that problem? -

I wanna scream!
marymcg62 replied to Hereiamonmyown's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm so so sorry to hear that you're having a hard time, but I know how you feel my husband, just made sausage peppers & onions the other day & then asked if I wanted some! ( I'm almost 4months post op), Sometimes I don't know where his head is at he'll still ask me if I want to go to dunkin doughnuts,or share a sub sandwich with him. He feels terrible when he realizes that I can't have that food,so now when he does it I give him a smack (not hard, just playful) on the back of the head. Then we both can laugh at it. It does take time to adjust to this new way of living, the first 6 weeks all I did was cry telling everyone I made a terrible mistake having this surgery, even my weight loss didn't make me feel better ,but as time went on & I started feeling better ( I also have RA& Fibromyalgia so my recovery took longer than most & I couldn't keep food down). Finding this site & talking to folks that are going through the same things really helps, there is always someone to listen. As usual I've written a novel, sorry but I do have a habit of being long winded. Peace, Mary -

marymcg62 replied to IChatman's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I waited until my first follow up appointment, which was a little over 3 weeks & I lost 40lbs. I had a very hard time post optimum keeping food down, after some trial & error it was the vitamins that were making me sick. Don't worry about the numbers as long as they go down your on the right track. -

So glad I found this site, my journey so far
marymcg62 posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
This is the first time I'm posting on this site , so I'd like to tell my weight loss journey up to now. I had my gastric bypass surgery on 1/29/2013. Doctors told me it was a textbook surgery , no complacations& I was home in 5 days. Once I was home I had a hard time keeping anything down, after a few calls& some trial & error we found out that I can't tolerate the vitimans. Once I stopped them things were going better. My first weigh in was 3wks post op& I lost 30 lbs ( sorry my weight the of surgery was 386). I weighed myself 2days ago & I now weigh 298! I can't even remember the last time I was this weight. I have chronic RA&Fibromyalgia, so I have these problems to deal with, along with the weight thing, but I have a hard time getting my family to understand, that sometimes I just can't get up &go & do everything they want, for instance my granddaughters birthday party I ended up missing , cause I was vomiting,so much that day I just couldn't get there, I felt so terrible, but my son is still mad at me& won't let me see the girls. Anyway I digress, does anyone else have some similar problems? I'd love to hear you. Sorry this is long & rambling, but I'm writing this at 3am , I have no one to talk to. Thanks for listening. -
Congratulations on your weight loss so far, I'm only 4 months post op, but I know how you feel about the food cravings, I've been dying for a turkey sub (or hero/hogie depending on where you live) from a local pizzeria, even just to be able to eat bread would be great. What I do is try to find the closest thing I can eat,to what I'm craving. Like the sub thing, I put turkey & Swiss in whole wheat crackers with real mayo,& it seems to satisfy the craving. Hope this helps. Peace

Thanks to everyone who took the time to respond to my first post. I'm not sure how to answer someone directly yet (I'm not the most computer savvy person in the world. To Lekea 79 right now I'm not taking anything for my fibro. I used to take Lyrics & when I lost my health ins. My Dr put me on Gabapentin, but I'm not taking it now the pills are so big, I'm afraid to take them, even broken in 2. I'd love to send a friend request (if that's what it's called on this site) to all of you,
