June 26th 2013 surgery day! I was so excited to feel better and become the healty person I want to be. At 3 wks post op I had been having pain on my left side ever since surgery. CT was done on June 20th that found my spleen to be bruised from surgery. I went home with pain meds and a follow up appt. Friday Auagust 2nd I woke up early in the morning in severe pain that I could not control. I called 911 and they rushed me in. Another ct was done and my surgeon determined I had a hole in my new stomach and I was in surgery again that afternoon. Its August 7 and just got word I have to be here atleast another week I have been NPO for 6 days now so my stomach can heal. I'm a beginning to regret my decision to ever have the rny done or any surgery done at all I miss my children, husband and family. School starts next week and everything was put on hold for me. I will miss out on a lot of Firsts this week for our family which I can't stand Please add me your prayers ♥

I had RNY on 6/26/13 and had emergency surgery 8/2/13. I have had nothing but complications since my RNY on 6/26. I am currently on TPN and don't know of anyone who has been in my shoes or is going through the same thing. Any reply will be greatly appreciated♥

I have ulcers all over and had them before as well we were aware of this from the EGD I was mm put on pepcid before surgery to calm things down. After my sx on 6/26 I was never the same and on 8/2 on of my ulcers that was on my new stomach ate a hole completely through my stomach. All my stomach content was spilling out into my abdomen. Due to the emergency repair of the hole, healing process and risk of this happening again in the same or different spot I can no longer eat. The doc said I will eventually get to try foods again but.have no idea when. It takes time lots l of time to get through this.

Left side pain is something I have delt with since my RNY on 6/26/13. I have been told its due to the ulcers in my old stomach. I also have ulcers in my pouch pre and post op. My surgery should have never been done but I didn't know that. Nor did my surgeon stop it. Please read all my posts it may help. Courtney

Sending prayers your way. I had my RNY 6/26/13 and have had nothing but complications since. I had emergency surgery 8/2/13 to repair a hole in my pouch from an ulcer that perforated my stomach. Found out that my stomach ulcers are so bad that the RNY surgery should have never been done. Yes I had and EGD prior to RNY which showed ulcers and two other medical terms I can't pronounce. My surgeon put me on pepcid for a couple weeks before surgery to calm things down but that didn't work and I should have never had the surgery. I am NPO on TPN with no end date in site. I completely regret ever having RNY or any of the surgeries at that. I did this so I would cure my diabetes and live a long healthy life for my husband, children amd family. Now they are suffering seeing and taking care of me. I can no longer drive. I have a pic line in my arm I can't tKe anything by mouth all my meds are IV. I had to quit my job and have applied for disability and have a long road ahead of me. There was not much discussion of risks and complications with the program i went through just the glory of it all. God bless you and best wishes.

I have been doing some research and lots of reading. Everything I see says a surgeon should avoid RNY surgery on someone with severe ulcers and if the doctor doesn't stop the surgery from happening someone should. Well I had no idea things were this bad or I would have never had the RNY I am just baffled that my surgeon did the RNY on me. Now look where I am and what I'm dealing with. Not just me my husband, kids and family. The people I did this for... -

Thanks! It has been and continues to be the hardest thing I have been through. I hope I can start thinking positive about the weight loss but I'm just thankful to be alive right now. Hopefully some day soon I can stop the tube feedings but I'm not sure eating again is going to be the easiest either. I hope people are able to educate themselves about this surgery and make the right choice. Before I had my surgery there wasn't much talk about risks just the glory. If I knew what I know now and with what I'm going through I wouldn't have had the RNY or any at all. Thanks again for the words of encouragement. -
Hey All! For those of you who had surgery in June just like me and are having some troubles just stay positive and know it can always be worse. I have been in and out of the hospital ever since my surgery on June 26th 2013. I had emergency surgery on August 2nd to repair a hole in my new stomach caused by an ulcer that perforated my mew stomach. I have been home from the hospital for two days now and each day gets better. The worst of it all is that I am very strictly NPO for 8 weeks so my stomach can heal. That means absolutely nothing to eat or drink I get all my nutrients from my pic line that is attached to a bag and the contents smells like rotten baby formula. Each day is getting.better but please stay positive and remember it can always be worse.. hang in there Courtney

I'm sick of cheese, cottage cheese, tuna, Beans, I hate fish, and I have had so much strained Soup broth soft cooked veggies make me gag. Also I can't tolerate the Protein drinks. I have tried everything under the sun and a few sips in and I'm hovering over the toilet. Please help me with ideas for food, words of encouragement anything. I'm feeling very alone and down right now. Thank You! Surgery date 6/26/13 HW 283 Current WT 228

Ugh! I'm so upset! I am 11 days post op, I have pains in my abdomen all over. Top, botton, right and left sides. I woke up this morning and started to drink and the sharp little stabbing pains began. I know I am still experiencing lots of pain in my left side post op but I'm so tired of all the other little pains. Its seems to be associated with drinking and eating??? I just don't understand I can't wait to feel normal. I am following the post op diet my bathroom habits are normal again so why do I have this pain. I feel like if the pain was was gone I would feel normal and ready to start my exercise routine. I see my surgeon tomorrow for my two week follow up. Were gonna get to the bottom of this!

Help! I'm 8 days post op and having a really hard time drinking my shakes. I literally gag at any flavor I have tried so many pre op and post op. I tried mixing it with pudding but that was worse. Any suggestions and whay happens if we don't get our Protein in. HW 263 Surgery Day 244 Today 237 Courtney

My surgery was June 26th I have had some ups and downs with extra fluid and air on my abdomen that makes me miserable however, it is getting better. My weight on surgery day was 244 lbs and today almost a week post op I'm 243 lbs. I am strictly following the diet and walking my neighborhood daily until I have the energy/strength to hit the gym for some good cardio workouts. I will be so happy to see more drops in my weight. Has anyone else had a slow start? Age 30 5'8 HW 280, pre surgery wt 263, wt day of surgery 244, current wt 243

Fluid on abdomen. 3 days post op
Rockin'MomOf3 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey All! I am three days post op and not feeling well at all. I have had a rough time with recovery. The day after my surgery everyone noticed how large my abdomen was getting. I looked 9mo pregnant. My nurse called my suregon and he did come see me. He advised me it was a shift in fluids. So apparently the iv fluids and fluids I was taking in were all collecting in my abdomen. He said it was nothing to be concerned about and it will go away over time. Its just so painful, my insides are already sore from surgery add a tummy full of liquid and it makes it much worse. Anyone ever had this problem?? -
