Hi! I am Ash. I had my RNY gastric bypass on August 28th, 2013. Are there any other August post ops that would like to start a group?

I like Nature Valley's Protein bars. They don't have that dry Protein Bar taste.

So getting back on normal foods, wondering what kind of cereal to try.

Special K Protein Cereal is what I have when I am needing a cereal fix. It has 10g of protein. 19 carbs with 3 Fiber so it is 16g of net carbs. 120 calories without milk in 3/4 cup. 7 sugars. I don't eat it often but I have it on hand. -
Phase 1 chicken broth question
anniesmommy replied to wanttodelete's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I loved my broth post op! I still have it several times a week. I count it as both meal and Water intake. I like beef broth the best. -
I drink Nectar Cappuccino protein shakes. Sometimes I add half a cup of real coffee to my shake. It really gives me a good coffee fix. I do notice now that when I drink regular coffee, I can't drink a whole cup. I make my coffee from my keurig and then pour out half of the coffee, add a bit of sweet n low and flavored creamer and then top it off with milk. And I can't even finish that cup. So the rest of that cup goes into my Nectar Cappuccino protein shake.

August Post Ops

Officially am down 80lbs now. I went to the gym today and walked a little over a mile and a half on the treadmill. I plan on keeping up with working out daily. Tonight is my monthly support group meeting. I am taking a friend with me that is planning on having VSG. She went with me last time. It's nice having people to talk to that have been or are going through what I am. That's why I like this group! -

Good Morning! My surgery was Aug 28th and I have lost 79lbs so far. I am losing slowly it seems. I am starting to work out now, so hopefully that will get things moving. I go through periods of not losing anything, and then I will lose a few pounds. What is everyone's weightloss so far? I started out at 306 and am now 227. Ash -

Hey everyone! I've been away for a long while but just got the app for my iPad so I'm back. Missed you all! Lots has happened. I had my RNY on August 28th. Got married 11/12/13 quit my job of almost 9 years just 2 weeks before Christmas and am now a stay at home mom and wife for a while. Feeling great! I shopped in Old Navy for the first time in years. Bought size 18 jeans last month and already think I need a 16. Bought a size XL in ladies coat. No more men's sizes for me! I even bought a medium size men's hoodie and it fits great! I bought a large t shirt while at the races, and it is a little tight on me but won't be long until it fits great. Went to Silver Dollar City on Dec 30th and had no fear of fitting into anything. Got to ride anything I wanted. Down 70lbs since surgery. -
Going out to eat *RANT*

I was given a card from my surgeon asking restaurants to let me order from the kid's menu or ask for smaller portion cooked to order. I've used it twice now. -
How about some NSVs!?!?
anniesmommy replied to shyanne's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I fit into an XL (fits like a large) jacket a friend gave to me that I wasn't able to fit in to before. Definitely a NSV! -

I finally broke through my stall! I've lost about 5lbs this week. I am fitting back into some of my old clothes. I put on an XL (fits like a large) jacket that a friend gave to me that I wasn't able to fit into before. Feeling great. I think what has helped me is walking a lot at work and EATING! I still don't eat as much as I used to, but getting in the food and nutrition that I need has definitely helped. -
I just got my fitbit in today! Gonna figure this thing out and add some buddies!

Obsessing with the scale!
anniesmommy replied to JamieC1028's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Get off of your scale!!! It will only depress you when you hit a stall. And trust me, we all hit stalls early on because our bodies are getting adjusted to our new way of eating. -

Any suggestions on good work out games for PS3 Move? I also have a Wii with the Wii Fit. I have a few work out games for it. -

Well today I am back to work. I really did enjoy my time off. I even went camping twice! But I guess I have to come back and make some money or I will be camping permanently. My boss said she can already see my weight loss in my face and my uniform suit isn't as tight. I brought my bento box today with a small portion of fish and some bbq beans and white chicken chili. I went and ate my beans on my first break. I'm in one of my offices sipping on water now. I think being back at work I might be able to regulate my intake better. I have a glass of ice water sitting here staring me in the face saying "Drink Me!" I emailed the food manager that is over our Employee Dining Room and asked if those of us who have had bariatric surgery could show our "Eat Cheap" card and be able to buy stuff a la carte. Right now we get charged a full buffet price if we get ANYTHING off of the hot line buffet. It's only $3 but I don't want to pay $3 for 3 oz of food. If I can't pay a la carte then I want to be able to take left overs home with me, which they currently frown upon. If they say no to my requests, then I simply will not buy food from them. (Or knowing me, I might take it up with the General Manager.) I'll keep ya posted. I am a manager at a casino if anyone was wondering. But being back at work is so far so good. I have lots of support here since there are several WLS patients that work here that I can talk to and everyone has been supportive of me. -

I had the weirdest dream. Probably a nightmare to us rny-ers. I dreamed I went to an all you can eat buffet that was 2 giant rooms filled with buffet counters with everything imaginable! Anyone else have any weird post op dreams? -
Smoking and Gastric Bypass
anniesmommy replied to thermo2000's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I had to quit smoking 6 weeks before surgery. They even did a nicotine test on me a week before surgery. It was tough. Probably one of the toughest things I've done. But now being 3 1/2 weeks post op, I can honestly say I don't want to smoke anymore. I even bought a pack of smokes, took about 2 drags and threw the whole pack away. It's just not the same anymore. I'm actually enjoying being a non smoker now! -

Has anyone else used "juicing" as a way to get in nutrients? I have a juicer and have several times juiced apples and carrots to drink. Going to start other fruits and vegetables. I have a hard time eating food right now but juice is just fine. I'm 3 1/2 weeks post op. -

Last night I cooked dinner for my family for the first time since I had surgery. I even made dessert. I tasted the casserole and the dessert but had no desire to eat my little portion. I guess I am still scared to eat much. I don't like the feeling I get when I over do something or something doesn't sit well. I know I am not eating enough and not getting enough Protein in like I should. I'm working on it though. -

I forgot I had this sweet cocktail glass. It has the oz measurements on the side. I just made a Protein shake with milk, About Time birthday cake protein, instant decaf coffee crystals and ice. Pretty tasty and I HATE protein shakes! -

I am going for my 2 week check up today. I am doing great. Finally able to get comfortable at night to sleep. I haven't had any problems with any food I have tried. Watermelon has been a highlight. I am still trying to get all my fluids in. And protein, dang protein. Started eating cheese and cottage cheese to try to get the protein in. I'm not a huge fan of shakes. I hope I can get another week or 2 of medical leave out of my doctor. I've been out 2 weeks so far and I'm not ready to go back. My boss had the sleeve and she and I have the same surgeon and she got 3 weeks out. So I'm pretty sure I can get at least another week. Hope everyone is well! -

It might be gas. Also if you eat too much that is where it will hurt. My pain was gas bubbles.
