    2 month post op milestones

Thank you. How far out are you?
  2. I had my rny surgery just over 2 months ago. Though there have been a few bumps in the road, I am pleased with the results thus far. I've lost 50 pounds. I can cross my legs! I've gone down 4 dress sizes. I tried on a pair of riding boots and they zipped all the way up without a struggle. No grunting and sweating. You ladies out there with large legs understand what a huge accomplishment that is. I can fit in a movie theater seat with room to spare. Table or booth? I want the booth honey! I recently returned to the gym after about a 2 week break and surprisingly did quite well. I thought for sure that I wouldn't last more than 10 minutes. I worked out for an hour. Whew! I'm trying to work back up to my pre op work out routine of going to the gym 4-5 times a week and sometimes twice a day. My work outs generally lasted one and a half to two hours. Now I'm very tired all of the time which I hear is normal in the early months following surgery. Just making it to the gym is half of the battle but I have to do it. I aspire healthy and more comfortable in my own skin. This is not about vanity. Well maybe a little. I want to tell plus size clothing goodbye forever. I want to be able to fit comfortably in an airplane seat without a seatbelt extender. I want to ride rides at amusement parks again. That's only the beginning. I'm so excited to see what my future holds. Tell me about your milestones. What things are you able to do now that you never have or just things that you haven't been able to do in a long time? Also, please share your goals. We can encourage one another as we work toward them.

    exercise restrictions?

I began working out at 2 weeks. The doctor said no abdominal exercises for 2 months. I'm allowed to do anything else I can tolerate as long as I limit weights to 25 lbs. At 2 months I can resume my regular workout with no restrictions.
  4. Thank you. I look forward to my next doctor's appointment. I have plenty of questions for my doctor.
  5. My joints do ache. My throat is not sore. My mom has arthrits in her knees and some of her fingers. My body aches and fatigue have been pretty consistant/constant but no sore throat. I do have trouble concentrating. I have noticed that I am more forgetful.
  6. I don't know what to do. I'm doing (almost) everything I think I'm supposed to do since my surgery. I eat a healthy diet getting my 50-70 grams of protein daily. I drink close to 64 oz of water as well. I take my vitamins as directed. I exercise 3-4 times a week but I am still pooped. I'm more tired than I can ever recall... mentally, emotionally and physically. At the suggestion of my doctor I've tried increasing my b12 and b-complex vitamins but I'm still tired. The nurse said that they don't typically do blood work at the 2 month mark but the want to know what the cause may be. Also, I recently began experiencing an all over body ache. Some might describe it as flu-like. I have no other symptoms. The combination of chronic fatigue and body aches brought me to tears today. I had a melt down. I'm usually a tough cookie but for some reason today I was rather emotional. I think that I can handle the aches and pains far easier than the exhaustion. I'm curious to know if what I am experiencing is "normal"? If not normal, has anyone else experienced fatigue/exhaustion and body aches at this stage (2 months post-op)? If so please share your story. How do/did you handle it and does it get better with time?

    13 days post op..

Yes! I felt the "pulling pain" sensation at the site of my largest incision up until about one month post op. I'm currently 6 weeks post. (surgery date 6/5/13) It does get better with time. I hardly feel any pain or discomfort anymore except when I over do it at the gym or lift something too heavy. Hang in there. If the pain doesn't get better or happens to get worse don't hesitate to call your doctor.

4 weeks post-op and no sense of fullness

I don't have a problem with feeling hungry all of the time. I just don't get the sensation of full. That just means that I stop when I figure I should be full. I don't experience the "head hunger" as much as people say. I try to drink plenty of Water between meals. I actually don't feel hungry much at all. I'm trying to figure out what to do about not feeling full when I do eat.
  9. I had surgery on 6/5/13. The first 10 days or so I didn't feel hungry at all so eating and drinking was quite a task. Since then I've developed the sensation of hunger but not fullness. I'm afraid of possibly overeating so I eat out of an under filled 1/2 cup container or a small bread plate. My dietitian said to try eating a little more to see if I begin to feel full. I tried but I am afraid or stretching my stomach or making myself sick. Has anyone else experienced this? Any suggestions?
  10. My best friend just gave me a scale. I bought one with all of the bells and whistles but the numbers were all over the place. I'm just going to wait until I go back to the doctor and compare that weight to my own scale. That way I'll know if it's accurate. I also went to lane bryant before surgery and had to exchange the things that i bought. Where are you from and if you don't mind me asking how old are you? I'm 33 by the way.
  11. My surgery date was 6/5/13. My weight on the day of surgery was 299 lbs. Boy was i happy to be under 300 lbs even if it was just a pound. I was 274 lbs at my 2 week post op appointment. I haven't weighed myself since. I go back for my 2 month post appointment at the end of this month. For some reason I feel like I'm stalling on my weight loss. I need to up my Water and Protein. That's been a task for more than a week. Ahh... here I go rambling again. When did you have surgery and what was you starting weight and your current weight?
