Hi everyone!
I'm new to this site and thought I would share my story. I underwent my gastric bypass on th 24th April, 2013 and am now heading into my second week.
Prior to making the decision to have this procedure I was on a self destruct mode. I had the attitude that I'm morbidly obese and what's the point of carrying on. I was in this state of mind for over 2 years until one day, my son told me he had made an appointment for me to see a female doctor. Usually I would have protested but I didnt. The doctor was lovely and made me feel comfortable. I remember breaking down cause I was ashamed of what I had become and where I was heading. The doctor ordered tests, diagnoses - borderline type2 dibetes, high blood pressure, high cholestral, sleep apnea, shallow breathing. I had never been on any medication at all and after seeing the doctor I walked out with a truck load of meds. I think that was the point of no return. I saw my GP once again and asked for a referral to investigate the lap banding procedure.
What I did forget to add was that in 1986 I did have my stomach lapbanded, which failed.
