help asap: I am so tired

I think everyones doc says something different. I chose to follow the one week clear one week liquid one week mushie and then regular food, I did this because I thought it would expediate the weight loss process and it did. regardless of my ticker below, i can not figure out how to change it, I am down 21 pounds.
  2. I am still in my first week and wondering about the special k protien water drink. It is really low in cal but offers protien. It is none carbonated and I think it will give me more energy...what do you all think?

    Chest Pressure PAIN - Help!!!!

Thats interesting you asked what my doc said. I asked if I could excercise and they told cardio was okay but avoid weights. Not because of the surgery but it sounded more like cardio was more benificial to weight loss. Any thought on lifting weights post surgery and when and why?

  6. Goodmorning all I just came back from Mexico at about 2 a.m. last night. I wanted to report to all of you how my band experience went since I relied on this website to inform and guide me through the process so here goes.... I have been looking on here for about 3 weeks, I have been thinking about this surgery for about 1-2 years. When I made the decision I went to my local surgean, He said he would do it but it would take 4 to 6 mos with all my pre op stuff, psych, diet, etc and it would cost 25K. Oh by the way my insurance would not cover it, big surprise. So I got on this site and learned about Mexico. After tons of time and hours of research I decided on Dr. Joya out of Puerta Viarta (Spelling?) I looked at everything and talked to lots of his patients, I called two weeks ago and Gerald (planner guy) got me started on the pass port(I did not have one) when I got my application(right now you can fly in to Mexico with the application, birth cert, and id) I called him Thursday he set me up for the following day to fly down, I had my surgery Friday afternoon and was on the beach by Sat. afternoon. I got home at 2 yesterday morning (my flight was canceled, I definatly recommend a straight shot...no lay overs). So what do I have to say? Well the hospital was great, very clean, nurses were very young and they do not speak very good english, be prepared for that. I like that they did not fuss over me, I recovered on my own and called if I needed them. I do think all the docs should wear name tags, they all looked alike to me and I would have liked to know who was who. I did have some discomfort after surgery, i should of read more on that, I laid flat, perhaps if I would have slept upright the pressure in my chest due to gas would have been lessoned but it passed in 24 hours. I would have enjoy Mexico one more day, it was beautiful and the hotel the doc puts you in is fabulous. I had a massage on Sat (after my release) that lasted 2 hours and costed 30 US $ Sunday morning I did a facial (that last 1 1/2, costing 35 $) Those were out of this world. The worse part of the trip was my flight home, the lay over sucked and the weather did not cooperate, all things out of Dr. Joyas hands. Would I recommend him, so far yes, the over all experience was good, I am doing well, so far. I will keep you posted. Good luck to you and if I can help ans your ? please ask, I think I remembered everything. Jme 231/224/150 Pre/Current/Goal 7/27 7/30 ?/??

help asap: I am so tired

Great advise on the propel and the bottle is so much easier to drink from especially the first couple of days. I have started slimfast and just one a day has seemed to do the trick. thanks for the info.
  8. I so agree with you, I am only four days out from being banded and I am just not wanting to eat (I mean drink/sip) anything. I am worried about protien and stuff but nothing seems good and I get full so fast. This all makes me very happy, this is exactly what I wanted/

    Mexico ?

That is the million doller question on here isn't it. Everyone is going to feel one way or another, so you have to go through all the posts and make a decision. I banded with Dr.Joya in porta varata, mexico for two reasons, he had no neg feed back anywhere on the internet, here or other sites and he was the cheepest, not to mention awesome credentials. It wasn't all about the money but it kinda was. I found three docs I could afford and looked into all three, Dr Joya came up with no bad feed back and was the lowest price. I had a great experience and would suggest him to anyone, infact I think my mom is going next month. Does that help? jmej

Yahooooo:clap2::eek:

My doctor is putting on phentermine

I just wanted to add ( this is my experience with phen) that if you have depression issues, when you stop taking this, you will really crash. I too loved it and thought this was a miracle drug, I was seriously high, then I couldn't take the sleepless nights and the constant buzzing, I weaned myself off and found that I was really depressed because I crashed, I won't ever take it again.

    Lower BMI Bandsters!

By way, how are you feeling? How long did you stay in Mexico? Do your recommend taking an extra day there before flying or do you just want to get home? I have three kids under 7 and I think I might need some quiet time before I return, what do you think?

    Lower BMI Bandsters!

yes he did say that I should do clear liquids 24 hours before, I was concerned with not doing the liquid diet 10 days prior. The US doc I originally spoke with, required the 10 day liquid, so when Joya said it was okay not to do it I was a little surprised.

    Lower BMI Bandsters!

My BMI 35 and I am going to band with Dr Joya, Gerald told me not to do the liquid diet, my BMI was low enough to not to do it before surgery. Does this sound right? I am worried and thinking about doing it anyways. Please fill me in>
  19. Hi there, I am looking into Joya too. I have found boat loads of info on this site, have you found anything negative about Joya? I did see something back in 2003 but nothing recent or since then. How is your search going?
  20. I think I have made my decision. I will book with Joya. It looks like the best thing for me, I like the price and haven't read anything negative. Please if anyone has heard anything let me know, ASAP. I am so excited that my dh is on board and okay with it...
  21. Thank you to you (faithmd and dbaguy) I am new to this and doing all my research, I am glad folks like you are pointing out posts like mattintosh at getbandednow.
