    before pics..

ooh I need to do this too. Thanks for the reminder. I've seen some people wear a dress or shirt in the before pic that is too small and as they lose weight the dress/shirt fits better and better. It's a cute idea I've been thinking about. "Keep Calm and Lose Weight!" ain't that the truth!
  3. I have 70 days till surgery and am trying to come up with new, exciting things that will keep me focused on my goal. One suggestion I have heard is to increase my strength training as this might help with loose skin after surgery. "Increasing" my strength training exercises is nearly impossible as I don't do much currently. I have done a couple of internet searches and found tons of fitness magazine strength training routines. I'm wondering if anyone has any great resources for strength training, is there a good routine you're using that you enjoy? Something you've been super successful with?
  4. I am inspired by your journey. My surgery is scheduled for July 15th. I hope by this time next year, I'll be experiencing similar results. Congrats on your hard work and determination!
  5. I have my surgery scheduled for July 15! I'm very excited and relieved to be moving along to this next step. I have KAISER insurance and there were a lot of hoops to jump through to get where I am. I wish my surgery could have been scheduled for sooner but I've gotta take what I can get. So 72 days! That's a long time. Any ideas of things I can do to make the time go quicker? I'm thinking a new exercise routine (swimming?) and new recipes. Any ideas!

    72 Day Countdown

Thanks for the positive support! I hope it goes quickly! In some ways the last seven months have gone fast and other ways unbearably slow. I'm thinking of coming up with some goals for the next few months to help keep me on track and focused on the finish line. Is there anything you wished you'd done before surgery? Any supplies you'd wished you'd purchased? Looking for some goal inspiration ????
  7. Hello All! After a grueling seven month process I have finally been granted a surgery date of...July 15! Two more months of waiting. Luckily, I've gotten really good at waiting. My journey started last October when my insurance (Kaiser) began covering weight loss surgery. I took a ten-week class titled "mastering weight management The class was like a slower version of weight watchers meetings (of which I've participated in at least five times over the last 20 years). After the class I had to wait several weeks for, wait for it...another class! In the mean time I had a sleep study and practiced tracking food/exercise. After the beginning of 2013 things started to move forward. I met with the social worker and nutritionist, had a series of blood tests and an ultra sound and now finally, yesterday, I met my surgeon. I'm excited to have a date set and my 72 day countdown is on! In the next 72 days I plan on losing even more weight (down about 35 pounds so far) and possible starting a new exercise routine. Does anyone have any ideas of things I can do with all this time? What should I be getting ready? What skills should I be perfecting? Thanks in advance!
