that is a good amount for your first fill! I hope you do ok with eating when the time comes. I had my first fill on MOnday and got 5cc's in my band right now. I feel a little like there is an air bubble in my chest/throat area. I am drinking and eatingmuch slower now, thank goodness. Before, I ate anything and everything, even pizza! Yikes. Also, since my fill on MOnday, I have lost about 4 or 5 pounds! This is due to the 48 hours of liquids, but, if we lose more than 2 pounds per week, they wont give anymore fills...darnnit. Oh well, I am happy with losing what I am losing. Good luck and let's hope that we dont gain over the holidays.

I have the 14 cc band and on my first fill this past Monday I got 4cc's added to the 1cc that was in there. So I have 5 cc's in my band right now. I have been on liquids for 2 days now and will start eating tomorrow. I have a weird feeling in my chest, not sure if it is restriction or what. It kinda feels like an air bubble. -
I know how everyone feels as far as being addicted to food. It sucks. I have caught myself shoveling food down my throat, and hiding the food containers and wrappers from my hubby. It is humiliating. But this is why we all got the band. It isn't a miracle though - sure wish it was. It is a tool to help us make better choices and to control the volume of food that goes into our gullet. I agree, it stinks, all the focus put upon food in our country. It is sick.

I was the same way. I had no will power to give up the junk I was eating before the surgery. Please know that after the surgery, it will be easier to make good choices. Not that you dont have to work at it, you do, but it is easier once that band is in place.

I got my first fill today. It was a little uncomfy, but not too bad. I already had 1cc in the band from surgery and the NP added 4 more. So I have a total of 5cc's right now. I dont feel any different either. I hope I get some restriction soon.

Ode to Thanksgiving (and the weight I gained back due to it)
ParaGirl replied to abckids's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
You did great, both of you. I ate like I never got the band! I ate slower, and probably less than normal, but I had it all! I feel so sick to my tummy today. I have my fill on Monday also and hope that it helps. Take care all, headed home to Georgia in a few, I am at my mom and dad's in Florida right now. -
I cant wait for my first fill!

Hi, I am a kindergarten teacher. I was banded on Oct. 11th, on a Thursday, and went back to school on Monday. It was tough the first week, but after that, it was smooth sailing. I have had one student tell me she could tell I had lost weight. This was unprovoked! I find that it isn't too hard to fit my eating into the schedule. I have a protein drink inthe morning at home, drink water til lunch, have lunch at school and then dinner at home. Not too bad. Good to see this thread and read about other teachers.

I know how you feel. It is amazing how little we are eating and still not losing like we should. I feellike I need to stop whining, because I am losing, but I just dont have restriction. I dont get my first fill until the 26th, and I cant wait, but then I think I better enjoy being able to eat now, cause it wont be so easy later. There are so many feelings involved in this band process, just go with it. Be mad, be happy, be sad, it is just what we are gonna be for a while.

Your brother is being a turd. It sounds as if you have it all under control. Good for you!

Pay for the band! Poll!
ParaGirl replied to princess_n_thep's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I paid $17,400 and my follow up care is covered for one year. My hubby's ins. has a WLS exclusion. -
I too have felt guilty and then counted up the whopping 850 calories I ate that day. My problem is, those 850 calories werent all that nutritional. We all need to learn not to feel guilty and to make sure we eat nutritionally valuable food. Take care and dont be so hard on yourself.

Man, Oh Man, are y'all brave. I haven't even tried bread, or tater tots, or anything of that sort. Yesterday, I tried some cereal with milk, that is big for me. I have pretty much stuck to soups, cottage cheese, eggs, protein shakes and such. I did eat some recee's cups after Halloween! oopsy! I have really wanted to try red meat, but not ready to see what happens. My first fill is Nov. 26. Thank ya Jesus! I am ready for a fill. I am always wanting to eat. Oh, I found that cheetos really softens up when you suck on them and chew them thoroghly...just dont eat too much.

Hi, I was banded on 10/11 and have lost around 15 (or more) pounds. I have not weighed for a while, but have noticed that a lot of the clothes I havent been wearing for at least a year are fitting. ANyway, I teach kindergarteners and today, I was up on a chair hanging something up on the wall when one of my little 5 year old girls walked up. She said to me that she had just noticed that I had lost some weight. WHAT? I nearly fainted! That was amazing to me that a child that young would be observant in that way. Just thought I would share.:clap2:

Hi, I am 15 days out. Surgery was Oct. 11. I feel like I have no restriction. I feel like I could eat a horse (well, not a horse-but you know what I mean) The only thing I can feel different is that I seem to get a touch of heartburn each time I eat. I want restriction dangit! My first fill isn't until November 26. Ok, if anyone else is in bandster &$$#, please respond. Misery loves company....

Yep, we are in bandster hell alright! I have continued to lose, very slowly, but I am really working it. I am basically starving myself!

Crazy psychology first week after 1st fill
ParaGirl replied to littlelove's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Cheers to you in learning new habits when eating. It is difficult to change the way you have been eating when you have shoved food down your throat all of your life - and I'm speaking of me here. I am missing the old me too (however, I do realize that the old me was miserable, stuffing myself, eating, feeling bloated) and the reason we miss it, is that it is all we know, until now. This is a totally life changing experience. Are you ready? Here we go... -
Well, I am thinking that the hunger comes in cycles. I have gone a few days without being hungry like I was. I am back to eating three small meals and satified. So pay attention to how you feel. Pay attention to the head hunger and the tummy hunger. I am not saying that my hunger will not come back, but it has taken a break lately, thank God!

Yes, it certainly made my week!

In the consult with the doc, he told me he will use the smaller band unless he absolutely cant - his words were that the will always "cheat down" on the size. He felt positive that he would use the small on me. However, in talking to the nurse, I found that I got the larger one. The APL 14cc band. Does anyone know if this makes a difference? LIke will I get more or less restriction with this band. I am self pay, to the tune of 17,400 and I want as much bang for my buck as possible. Thanks in advance for any of your help.

I saw my doc yesterday. He makes all his patients wait 6 weeks for a fill. But he did tell me that I will be getting a 4cc fill! yee ha!

If you have the AP lapband please respond
ParaGirl replied to melissatx's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Wendy, I too have the large AP band and my first fill is Nov. 26th. I talked to the doc today and he told me that I will get a 4cc fill. He said if there is any problem (I wikll get my fills at the Obesity Clinic ) with the nurse giving me 4cc's, that I need her to call him! This is because I am self-pay and for the first year after surgery, my follow up is included in the price (17,400) But the doc doesnt do the fills, if I choose for him to do it, it will cost me. -
Be excited that it DIDN'T move... See, it didn't move up either!!!
