My Rant before a break (Strong Words so enter at own Risk)
ParaGirl replied to TommyO's topic in Rants & Raves
I guess I have been busy reading posts about losing weight that I haven't begun to read those weird "Someone isn't supportive, but Im not saying names" posts. Oh well. Merry Christmas everyone!!! -
I didn't say MOST blacks speak ebonics.
-
Come on, if you live in our society you KNOW what one means when they say someone is sounding white or black! We are not all ignorant. Haven't you heard of ebonics? Being that some states wanted to start teaching classes in ebonics should be an indicator that there is a difference in the way SOME white people and SOME black people speak. I noticed that Oprah did not sound herself when speaking on Obama's behalf. And please, don't tell me that Oprah can be prejudice, but not racist. How can it be that only the white race can be racist? That is ridiculous. It is a racist comment to even suggest that a black person cannot be racist. Are you suggesting that black people are incapable of hating another race simply because they were born black? When you say this, you set yourself apart. And last, the point is MOOT, not mute. Thanks.

I cant wait for them to get a support group together. That would be great.

Don't forget why you had the band (Tops List)
ParaGirl replied to MichelleB's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I want to to have a smaller butt than my hubby!!! (haha) I want to sit down and not worry if my fat rolls are noticable. I want to not feel self-conscious when naked and with my hubby (not that i get naked with anyone else). I want to be proud of my figure and not try to hide it with big shirts. I want to look hot in shorts and a tank top this summer. I want to feel comfortable when in a crowd. I want to be the smallest person in the room instead of the largest. -
Way to go!

What is your current fill in the APL 14cc band?
ParaGirl replied to ParaGirl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I went for my second fill but didn't get one because I had lost 4 pounds. Bummer. They absolutely will not fill if you lose 2 or more pounds per week. Oh well, maybe next time. -
What is a midband???

The Magic Bullet - A Bandster Must-Have!
ParaGirl replied to LovingWhatIs's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
The Magic Bullet rules! I am now on regular foods and I use it almost every morning for my protein shake. -
P.S. I can eat ANYTHING - dont feel like I have a band.
-
I have had one fill, 5cc's, and i can eat salad. (have the 14cc band)
-
Happy Banding!

Well, I went in to get another fill and because I had lost 4 pounds in two weeks, they would not fill me. Bummer. I will have to do better and not rely on the band 100%. I am tracking my food and all that right now using fitday.com. I sure hope I do better, my next appointment is Jan. 2.

If I'm going to fall off the wagon ....
ParaGirl replied to Mrs SmartyPants's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
You did great, the bun (which you discarded) is the downfall. If I were you, I would be so proud! -
Um, it looks as if I gained 7 of those 8 pounds back. WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA.

9 pounds lost in total and gaining it back
ParaGirl replied to cQQlgirl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Well, the first week after my first fill, i lost 8 pounds, and then the second week I gained 7 back! I felt restriction and then I didnt. I dont get it. My next fill is tomorrow, thank goodness. I just dont know what is going on. I am going to make sure that the 5cc's that were in there two weeks ago are still there. I sure hope I dont have a pinhole or something. That would be tragic, as I am self pay, and any complications are going to break us financially. -
Well, lately I have been in one heck of a terrible mood. I am so stressed out right now and was having a problem figuring out why. Well, I figured it out, I used to stuff my face to deal with my stress and now I am not able to do that. Boo hoo, huh? I guess it could be worse. I guess I will have to start exercising to deal with it now. Is anyone else going through this?

I ordered Winsor Pilates from the internet and can't wait to get them. I have heard wonderful reviews about it.

There was an Oprah show about this over a year ago. One woman was an excessive spender, another started drinking like crazy, and the third woman starting sleeping with anything that wasnt tied down! Crazy. I just posted another thread about stressing out a lot lately and not knowing how to deal with it, as I always crammed food down my throat before.

I have 5cc's in a 14cc band. I have decent restriction, but it is still a struggle.

How long have you had your band and are you still happy?

ParaGirl replied to Beka's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Ive had mine for about 2 months now. I LOVE IT! I have had one fill and have great retriction. I have 5cc in my band and it seems to be just right for me right now. I know I am still a newbie, but I would not change the decision I've made to get the band in a million years. By the way, I am self pay ($17,500), and it was worth it. -
Don't discipline your child...hmmmmmm, coming from a state that hails Ted Kennedy as one of its Senators. I guess it's ok to be a drunk and to kill someone as a result of drunk driving, but Lord forbid, dont swat your child. Yea, makes a lot of sense.

new, not banded, and seeking wisdom
ParaGirl replied to gitrdone's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
This is a wonderful tool. It is not a miracle surgery, you still have to make proper choices, but it sure is easier with the band. I say do it, you are in the grip of a deadly disease, and this procedure could save your life. -
I chose the LapBand for the sheer fact that I needed to lose weight! Bypass is NOT for me, I would never do that to my body, too invasive, too risky, too scary. I have known several people who had LapBand, all successful. I am so glad I did this, I would recommend it to anyone who needed to lose a large amount of weight and who was willing to make the lifestyle changes necessary to do it.
