My Surgeon asked me what my goal weight was and I told him anything below 200. I've only seen the scale say 199 one time in my life and I would be so happy to see that again. That was the time in my life I felt the best physically. He says I should shoot for 180, but I'll be doing a happy dance at 199.9!!

In mourning...
sarjblack replied to futuremrsparker's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
OMG!! I'm so glad I'm not the only one mourning over food. I never realized just how attached I was to food. Sewing is a great idea. I used to do that all the time. Maybe I need to take it back up. Find a hobby that makes since for me. -
I never realized what an emotional eater I was until I couldn't really eat anymore!!! I've been in tears for days.
-
I haven't drank yet. I have found that I'm a food addict because I've been going through some ry tough emotional withdraws. I'm scared about transferring my addition so I'm not taking any chances. I have several friends that have had RNY that have drinks with no issues. Their advise was just start slow.

I completely understand. I'm only a week out and sometimes I think why in the world I did this to myself. When I'm depressed I swear there is no talking me out of the negativity. Now that I'm feeling better it makes me thing OMG I really was addicted to food! What would have happened toy life if I hadn't made this change. I gained 75 pounds last year. Where on earth would I be in 5 years from now. At the end of the day, I'm thankful I was given a tool that is helping me break the addition. And let's be honest, I wasn't really all that happy before anyway.

insomnia arrrggghhh
sarjblack replied to deaddemmama's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Since my surgery I can't seem to sleep AT ALL!! I used to fall asleep quickly and stay asleep. Now I literally have to drug myself to sleep. Help? -
When we were in the pre op room. My ex (she stayed at the hospital to care for me) said to me, "you could have tried harder, there are a lot more people that need this surgery more than you. You know you you could have done it yourself hit instead your taking the easy way out" I immediately asked her to leave. She the. Apologized and explained she would support me but she would never have made this decision for me. Look at all I had to risk and I was still willing to get it done. I refused to speak to her until I was out of surgery. I haven't brought up the topic since then. It just goes to show who really is there for you and those that aren't. Kristi, sounds like out real friends are about to show themselves.

I'm in pain, meds only last four hours and I have to keep up on them. Anyone else having more pain after leaving the hospital?
-
Just made my way home from the hospital. Pain isn't bad at all. Actually I think getting my gallbladder out was worse. I did go home on oxygen because my levels kept falling. I'm so thankful to be home! Yay! Tomorrow I get to see my kids!

In doing better this morning. Yesterday was rough. I was barely able to walk because I was so light headed. Been sleeping a lot. It hurts to drink. Getting cramping in my pouch.

I'm waiting to be admitted. My surgeons last patient is still finishing up. My nerves were on high alert last night but I'm feeling more calm about my decision today. My really close friend text me this morning and said "I love you Sara, I'm SO proud of you". =D

I wasn't going to tell anyone but my spouse at the beginning. Then after my spouse and I separated I realized how lonely it was. I couldn't believe that I hadn't told people that were close to me. It took some seriously looking into myself, but I found the reason I wasn't willing to tell anyone is because I was ashamed. Not that I was fat, but that I hadn't succeeded on diets. I was worried that everyone would look at me like a failure. Later that day my son was upset because he couldn't get his shoes on the right feet. As I was helping him, I reminded him that he can always ask for help, it takes a brave person to ask for help. Duh!! How did I not realize that didn't apply to my life!?! I wasn't a failure, I wasn't some horrible mock up of a person. I was simply asking for help in my weight loss. What a new perspective!! I started telling everyone. Anyone I could. I have been fortunate enough that everyone so far has been really supportive of my decision to better my health. I couldn't be happier that I have a huge group of friends and family that I can lean on. I wish you the best of luck in whatever decision you decide. Only you know what's best for you.

Almost ready for surgery and just got new job. HELP!
sarjblack replied to Neoflasher's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If I was your employer I would want to know ahead of time. I would rather wait a week or two then run the risk of loosing a new employee that I spent not only time but money on the hiring process. -
Things i will not miss
sarjblack replied to kinggrichard's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I will not miss calling my maternity jeans "yoga jeans" because they are the only thing that fits me 15 months postpartum. I will not miss having my arms go numb when I sleep. I will not miss dreading the stairs. I will not miss straining to wipe my own ass. I will not miss having to buy bigger purses because my arms are big. I will not miss the way my belly almost steers the car for me. I will not miss being the "big funny" girl. I will not miss being called ma'am when I'm in my mid twenties. I will not miss turning sideways to fit in those little turn things at the rec center. I will not miss shopping at Lane Bryant. Most of all I will not miss feeling so uncomfortable.
