Hang in there!

Well here I am the night before surgery! I am totally freaked out! I am so scared and nervous and thinking "What am I doing?" I want this surgery and I want to be healthier!! I wanna be able to get on the floor and play with my grandkids and I wanna be able to go up the stairs without huffing and puffing! I am so scared of the surgery and possible complications. I am looking forward to losing weight and dropping sizes and I am committed to it. But that doesn't ease the nerves! I have been praying everyday (I do anyway) for a safe surgery and speedy recovery! I cant wait to be on the losers bench and start telling everyone my milestones! I have down 150 pounds as my goal weight, but I keep thinking I can do better than that! Maybe 140 or 135! I love going on cruises and it would be awesome to wear shorts, which I never do. I wear cropped pants mostly, but I want to be able to wear shorts and be nice and cool! Hopefully, by time we go on our cruise in September I will have a pair of shorts to wear! I also want to go snorkeling. I always watch from the boat because I feel too big to snorkel. I just wanna get in the water and snorkel too! I'd like to go on a city tour as one of the excursions, but we never have before because there is too much walking, so come September hopefully I will be able to do these things on our cruise. When I think of all of these things I want to do when I lose weight, I remember this is why I'm doing the surgery!

I've been on my liquid diet since sunday 1/12/14 and I have to say it is very very hard not to sneak food. I want to eat something so bad. I am tired of having the Protein shakes for Breakfast lunch and dinner. Tomorrow 1/15 is my surgery and I cannot have anything to eat or drink after midnight. So all day long I have been drinking Water and my shakes and so tired of them. I want to chew some food!!! Good luck! You are right around the corner! See you on the losers bench!

My surgery is tomorrow, 1/15/14. I am so nervous and scared! I have to be there at 730am and surgery is at 9am. I can't believe it is here already! I will be in the hospital about 4 days and I am taking my tablet so I can tell about my experience there, if I am able, if I'm not to tired or in too much pain! Where are you having surgery? I am having my surgery on 1/15/14 and will be having my RNY open due to scar tissue and previous surgeries. I was just wondering if there is anyone out there who had their RNY open and how long did it take to get fully mobile and not so much pain? How long were you off work? How long was it before you could drive again? How long were you in the hospital? Was there anything you couldn't do because of the open surgery that someone else had to do for you? Anything else would be helpful because I am getting really anxious and nervous about the surgery. Thanks!

I'm an okie:) when is your surgery?

Started liquids today. All I can say is that I am hungry! I want to put food in my mouth and chew! So I get a Meal Replacement for Breakfast lunch and dinner; and 2 Protein Snacks like crystal light with Protein Powder in it. I am ready for something that isn't sweet. I want something salty! I have been drinking the crystal light all day, I made 2 quarts and in between cups of that I am drinking 16 oz bottles of water. Been to the bathroom many times! I am going to call my doctor office tomorrow and see if I can have broth with protein because I'm already bored and just got started!!! Wednesday is coming up fast, so excited and scared at the same time! Now I am about to have my banana shake! Bottoms up!

Start my pre op liquid diet on Sunday 1/12, RNY surgery is on 1/15. I am so scared!!!!!

My surgery is Wednesday 1/15/14! I'm excited and nervous and scared!!!! I am having an open RNY and have been on my pre op diet since last week, Sunday I start my liquid diet. So far on the pre op diet I have lost 11 pounds. I am so ready to lose so much more. I am taking my tablet to the hospital with me so I will be on this app since they have free wi-fi! I am determined to get up and move and walk as much as I can while I am in the hospital, of course they make you anyway. I am going to try to be proactive and walk more than they tell me to though. Apparently, I will be in the hospital a minimum of 4 nights since I am having the open surgery instead of laproscopic surgery. I had a lap bad in 2006 and it had to be removed in an emergency surgery 4 days later because they perforated my stomach when it was placed, so they had to remove it and repair my stomach. So I went through all of that for nothing! Nothing meaning I didn't get to use the lap band as it was intended! So now here I am almost 8 years later, having the RNY! I had the lap band because I didn't want to get my insides rerouted! My sister had the sleeve in 11/2012 and has lost 110 pounds and I have the same surgeon. I am ready to be on the losers bench as everyone says!

I am having open because of other surgeries and scar tissue also. They are just going to use the scar I already have which is really long. I am really nervous and wanting to know how long post op pain lasts. Can anyone give me info any insight as to how their pain was? I know everyone's pain is different...

I will be having an open rny and would like to know how long did it take you to fully recover? How did you feel the 1st few days? How long were you in the hospital? And anything else you can tell me that will help! Thanks!

Reborn I am having open rny my surgeon is Dr Lana Nelson in okla. My sister had her and got the sleeve and did awesome over a year ago. And my sister had her for another surgery and did great with that surgery as well and dr nelson is an awesome doctor. I had a lap band over 7 yrs ago by another doctor that perforated my stomach and I didn't know it until 4 days later and had many complications from it and almost died. So I guess that's why I am so scared. The Dr that did my lap band no longer practices.

I've been reading posts and feel like I'm the only one who is terrified of the surgery. I cannot sleep at night, all i can think about is what can go wrong during and after the surgery. I'm scared I'm going to die in surgery. I did all my pre op tests and every thing was good but I am just really scared. My family is also worried about it. My starting weight was 297 current weight is 286 surgery is scheduled for the 15th. I'm on my pre op diet and starting Sunday I'll start on my liquid diet. Any suggestions as to what I can do to think better thoughts? Please help! Thanks!

It is going to be open because I have had multiple abdominal surgeries so there is a lot of scar tissue so it would be too complex for laproscopic surgery.

My surgery date is 1/15/14 and I'm on my pre op diet, I'm so attempted to eat the wrong foods and stray off my diet. I just hope I can make it and am a success. I am having second thoughts about the surgery because I am so scared of complications. I had many complications when I had the lap band 7 years ago now I am having the rny but it will be open instead of laproscopic.
