    Surgery Dates for July

I'm July 3rd as well!! Hello surgery buddy :-)
  4. I have my preop class tomorrow. I have to be there at 830am and they said to expect to be there until 430p Wow...8 hours?? Im a little intimidated by the length of this class. Hopefully it's up beat and encouraging. I really don't need anymore to think about or second guess. But I am looking forward to getting this going and I feel like things are going very fast now. So anyway...just what's on my mind tonight! peace chris
  5. My doc doesn't use them either! Feeling blessed not to have to deal w that. With that being said; I've had one before and it wasn't that big a deal. Burned a little once out the first couple times you pee but not horrible. You'll be fine :-)

    Two Weeks & Regret!

Seems like an awful lot of food right after surgery. My surgeon says 2oz "full liquid meals" three times a day. Then gave me a list of about 18 different foods to choose from. This is the diet for the first 4 weeks post op. I hope you find a happy place soon. Xx

    PreOp Class

Well, I was quite shocked by the amount of ppl who was eating candy or drinking soda but the lady with the bacon, cokes, and beer was killing me! I think she was older (late 50s) and either refused to hear or read what's expected w this surgery or just don't understand. They had her stay after for 1on 1 counseling. They did talk about a guy who left the hospital the other day and his driver stopped at a fast food resturaunt. The patient had a French fry and later wound up in ICU. VERY VERY sick. Lesson learned!

Any recommendations on keeping track of steps

the Fitbit ($86-155 on amazon.com there's 3-4 different kinds) is a really cool device. Tracks not only steps but fluids, protein, exercise, weights, sleep time and how good it was; plus other things. That info wirelessly to your computer or smartphone app called (myfitnesspal). I just bought one for my husband for father's day. He hasn't started using it since he out of town and didn't have time to set it up but I plan to get me one prior to my surgery on the 3rd. Also, if you go to amazon.com and search fitbit; you can read all the reviews and info on each individual item to choose the one you like the most. hope this helps!

    PreOp Class

Hey guys! Well I enjoyed reading your posts :-). So I was in class from 830 til 3 pm. We did get an hours lunch break (thank god) but it was still an incredibly long day. I received an encyclopedia of info that I'm sure will come in handy. You laugh about the pizza and chips but there was about 40 ppl in the class and 75% of them was drinking regular coke, the lady in front of me ate a bag of M&Ms and the lady next to me kept asking when she would be able to resume eating bacon, coke and beer! They made her stay after for a one on one consult with the head nurse. I I about spewed my propel Water on multiple occasions! It's going to be a long trip for some of these ppl! All in all it was a great class. The morning was dietitians talking about eating the day before surgery, during the hospital and the diets for the next 4 weeks. Then we had lunch and the nurses came in to go over all The medical stuff. The Chaplin came in and prayed with us which I though was very nice. Then they gave us a sharps container and an insulated lunch bag and a laundry list of vitamin/mineral supplements to buy before surgery :-).
  14. Hey Guys! So, does anyone else feel like they are totally obsessed with WLS? I feel like its all I can think about!! Sometimes my mood and demeanor is just total bitch! I feel like I've constantly got these running "what ifs..." stampeding through my head. Does it get better, the anxiety and stress, after surgery? Will my mind ever be mine to think of anything else again? C

  19. I'm so happy you guys have found this as useful as I have! You're very welcome!
  20. Good morning everyone! I have gleamed several tips, ideas and overall supportive moments from the support groups I've been attending through St. Vincent Bariatric Center of Excellence where I'll be having my RNY on July 3. Here's one that I thought may be useful to share with you guys as well. So, Im not sure I have the story completely right, but, here's what I think I know. There's a chef named Chef Woody who has a wife whom underwent RNY surgery. Chef Woody became frustrated with making two different meals every time they sat down to eat so he has created healthy, tasty, bariatric friendly meal that everyone in the family can enjoy! He has a website, www.chefwoody.com where you can get ideas and recipes for all sorts of things that fit your place in the journey. I hope this is helpful! Peace, Chris
  21. My lap band was ruptured during a fill. Since I was never really successful with the band and since studies are now showing ppl with diabetes and other metabolic issues have much less success with the band; my new Bariatric doc recommended RNY. I had planned the band to be my only surgery but it just didn't work out that way.
