    Surgery Dates for July

Well guys I came home around 3 pm yesterday! First night at home went very well. I do miss the hospital bed. But I think in doing good with all the meds...and there's a lot...but I left the hospital off all the quick acting insulin and I'm taking a low dose of Lantus at night. However my bs was 54 this morning. So I may be cutting that one out soon! So for now I'm sipping walking taking meds and resting. Thanks for all the support!

    Still in hosp :(

My surgery was 7/3 and I was released around 3pm yesterday. I was nervous coming home but have done well. I know I walked upwards of 3 miles and that helped with gas. But I just passed gas for the first time last night. I'm still having some issues with that but no where near as bad the first 48 hours. Just keep sipping and walking. The also have me gas pills and a protonic(??) to help lessen gastric juices and lessen nausea. Hope things turn around soon for you. Xo

    Surgery July 3rd

I'm also having surgery on July 3rd :-). You should join the July Surgery board. My doc didn't even require the preop diet. I have a very light diet today to follow for tomorrow but that's it. I'll be sending a prayer up for you tomorrow! Best of luck surgery buddy!

    A ball of nerves

Good morning and welcome to the waiting game! Since you're like me and still have a family to cook for I will share this website with you that i learned about during a support group at my Bariatric center. It is www.chefwoodys.com. This is a site ran by a Bariatric patient who had the surgery himself and also his wife. Woody needed to be able to make healthy meals that both he and his wife could share w/o having to cook two different meals. The website is pretty awesome and breaks down meals based on your place in the journey; so there's recipes from the very beginning of post op all the way through the rest of your life. Also, if you have an old family recipe that you are particularly fond of but it's not healthy; if you send it to Woody he will lighten it up for you! Super nice guy and will also answer your cooking questions! Best of luck and congratulations on your WL journey :-)

    pre op class

Mine was a 6 hour class on everything to do with your WLS. The first half was taught by dietitians and they discussed and answered questions about everything food. Then there was an hour lunch. They finished with the nurses discussing all the ins and outs of surgery, potential side effects and post op rules. We got a binder bible to refer to after surgery, a box of levanox, a cooler bag, baby spoon, and A couple ounce measuring cups.
