This was the best thing I ever did for myself. I tried every diet, it would work for a bit, and then I would slip back to my old habits. I couldn't walk around the block, with out my knees killing me, go up stairs with out being out of breath, on so many medications, and my labs still weren't good. I looked into this almost 4 years ago, but not covered under my insurance. Then 3 years ago my insurance did cover it but not with the doctor I wanted. January 2013, at my PCP appointment, she was very upset with my labs, (I was on weight watchers), I told her I needed to really look into the surgery. She told me to give it 4 weeks to really think about this life change and come back to her with my decision. Four weeks later I met with her and she gave me a doctors name, ( the same doctor that I wanted 4years prior), I told her that he doesn't take my insurance, and she said yes he does now, she already called him. Met with him in March , surgery in July, and so far have lost 66 lbs. I feel great, I run and play with my very active grandsons, can go up and down the stairs without having to stop for a breath, work out in the yard for hours without having to take a break every 15 mins., most important I'm off all medications. I know my weight loss is slow according to some people, but I'm loosing it in proportion. My only problem is beef, I can't eat it, but that's ok.
Like I said in the beginning, this surgery (tool), was the best thing I could have done for myself.
