I was suppose to have surgery on May 13 but after spending 4 hours in pre op my surgeon comes in and cancels my surgery because of my kidney output. Well after several dr appts I am finally okayed for surgery again . My new date is July 8th.

Thanks. My surgeon kept apologizing and I told him I was glad they were being thorough, I would rather wait a little longer then end up more sick. I guess I was all pumped up and ready to go. I could have ended up with kidney failure so a few more weeks are okay. I have my appointment with the nephrologist on May 28th, I will keep you posted.

I have bad news. I spent four hours in pre op to have my doctor come in and tell me my surgery was canceled. I guess my kidney function is down. They said it is caused by the two week liquid diet. So I go back to my normal diet and go see a neurologist and then reschedule my surgery. I was so close, now just disappointed. But I guess better safe then sorry.

I will be heading to the hospital in a few hours. I am so nervous I can't sleep. I am so ready for this. Good luck to everyone else that has surgery today

Went in for preop with primary dr yesterday and my labs were off. Had to go back in today for more labs. They were better today, but got to gi back Friday to have them checked again. They think it is stress from the liquid diet on my body, plus my diabetes glucose numbers were going high, so had to switch my drinks to glucerna. I am hoping they won't postpone my surgery. Keeping my fingers crossed. They also said I was dehydrated so I have been drinking water all the time now

Started my liquid diet today. I never thought it would be this hard. All I thought about was food. This is harder then when I quit smoking. But I did make it thru day one, i am going to take it one day at a time, I am sure it will get better each day. Everytime I wanted to eat I would go for a walk and it seemed to help.

I start my liquid diet on Monday. Time is really moving fast. I am nervous but extremely excited too. I am taking my granddaughter tomorrow and have what I call my "last meal", before only liquids. We will have fun

I only told my three kids, they are 30, 25, & 21. They are really supportive. I haven't said anything to my sisters because I know they would be extremely negative and all I would hear is "you are taking the easy way out"

I had my appointment on Monday. I start my liquid diet on Monday the 29th. My surgery is May 13th. It is coming up quick.

I started my journey April 2012 when I attended the informational session. I did six dietician appts, my psych eval done by Oct 2012 then the wait was on for insurance approval. It took til the end of Dec to find out I was,denied because my bmi at the time was just below what they allowed. My surgeon sent them a letter telling them that I had followed their plan and had lost some weight but still had several health issues. In feb i heard that i was approved and two weeks later I had my surgery date of May 13th ( it just happens that I had my hysterectomy two years ago on may 13th). I go for my pre op teaching on April 22. I am so excited, I think about it all the time. I have been buying supplies but not too many, I have three grown kids that,are willing to do whatever I need them to do. I have a wonderful family :-)

I had,a very stressful weekend. My 5 year old granddaughter had emergency surgery on Fri night. At first they thought it was her appendix but when they went in they found out her right ovary twisted around the blood supply,which caused it to die. They had to remove it. Both the general surgeon and gynecologist said they had never seen the condition before on a 5 year old. They did a wonderful job and my granddaughter is doing wonderful, you would never guess she had surgery a few days ago. Makes me feel good it is the same hospital I will be going to for my surgery

I am glad my surgery wasn't scheduled for today because we got over 12 inches of snow and last night the winds were gusting over 50 mph. It sure doesn't feel like spring!

I am from Duluth, Minnesota. I am glad my surgery is scheduled in May because there is a huge snow storm coming in tomorrow.

My surgery date is May 13th. I have finished everything, so just waiting for surgery. I am getting a little nervous but also excited.
