Stayed overnight and left the next morning. I lived 2 hours from the hospital and it would not have been a fun ride on the first day! The next day the ride was ok. Stay!!

Congratulations!!! I was banded on the same day at Hershey Medical Center in PA. I am doing great! I only have some discomfort at the port site and very little in the way of gas pain. I only have trouble getting in or out of bed. I'm glad you're doing so well. Best of luck for your continued recovery! Debbie

Soon to be Banded... VERY nervous!
greyhound-girl replied to rachelle-a-tron's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi Rachelle, I was banded 48 hours ago! I am home and doing great. I had my surgery at Hershey Medical Center in PA by Dr. Shope. I was also anxious about the surgery and everthing that goes along with it but I asked my doctor alot of questions, did all the pre-testing for clearance and also met with anesthesia ahead of time. These professionals made me feel very comfortable, confident and positive. Keeping a positive attitude really helps!! I have minimal discomfort(not pain) but I am still taking the pain meds at least once during the day and to help me sleep more restfully at night. The most tender part is where the port is and that area only hurts when I get up and down. If I'm just sitting or walking (slowly!) I wouldn't even know I had it done. I've had very little in the way of gas pain...some under my ribs and a little in my shoulder but not anything unbearable and I havn't had to take anything for that. I know everyone is different but I've had a good experience and so could you! It's normal to be nervous but this site will give you lot's of good advice and encouragement. Best of luck to you.. How is weight loss for people over 50?
greyhound-girl replied to debi717's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi Debi, I'm a Debbie! I just turned 52 last week and my surgery is this coming Thursday. I was put through the same pre-tests and my doctor also saw a little "something" with my heart. I had an echo and the nuclear scan but I now have clearance for surgery. I just feel that it's best to know everything ahead of time and I'm really glad they gave me such a thorough work up. Now ther's one less thing for me to be anxious about! (I was in the same boat as you with only losing about 1/2 pound a week with Wgt. Watchers!) Let the doctors do their thing and Good Luck!!
