    first week post op

The crystal light lemonade burned my pouch or at least that's how I felt. Fuze slenderize is good, low fat milk, Motts Tots has a light apple juice that I've been drinking - only 50 cals and 12 g sugar in 8 oz serving. Plus the juice helps keep constipation away. Carbonated drinks

It's so weird the differences in doctors. I'm not sure about alcohol as I haven't asked- not a big drinker anyway. My NUT says no sodas ever again and yet my surgeon told me when I'm 2-3 months out he doesn't mind as long as there is no caffeine and it's Diet. I mean they work in the same practice and yet have varying rules!

    Birth Control Problems!

I am on reclipsen.... I never could remember the non-generic forms name. Thanks. I have taken it for years and since surgery have continued it and so far so good.

    My WLS Story

God I know this feeling. Was out with my mom and youngest siblings (13 yo twins) and they were hungry and wanted to get something to take home. I was driving! I had to go through the Whataburger drive thru and order their meals. I had to pass the bags and drinks to them. I was only 1 week post op at the time. I didn't cry but it was so tough. I love Whataburger. Sent from my iPhone using RNYTalk

    Loose Skin

Yes, it's terrible that's true. I just paid $3500 out of pocket for my bypass and now I need to start saving immediately for the plastics I will need in the next couple years. I'm young at 26 but since I weighed 377 at my highest I know I will have lots of excess skin. It can only stretch so much. Sent from my iPhone using RNYTalk

    Recovery?

I was only in overnight. Unless you have complications my doctor only does one night. I was up the night of surgery walking the halls. They will make you get up and walk. They told me no driving for a week and only then if I was off pain meds- which I was. I was able to walk when I got home just fine. Did walk a little hunched and only short distances at first. Calories..

My surgeon said while loosing 1000 a day or less. I'm not anywhere near that because of my stricture. Once I get past it that will be my limit. Sent from my iPhone using RNYTalk

    Tailbone issues

I've only lost 36 pounds thus far so I don't have a bone sticking out. I think I have lost some padding back there as sitting in my desk chair at work for hours on end makes my booty sore. Before surgery it wasn't a problem. Sent from my iPhone using RNYTalk

    So...

Lol there is a girl at work that I want to say this to! I'm like our insurance covers gastric bypass- you should totally do this! Despite the complication I'm having at the moment and being miserable I don't regret this. I know it will give me my health back. Sent from my iPhone using RNYTalk

    Operation procedures

I didn't feel it. You are totally out when it goes in and comes out. The sore throat I had was nothing! I didn't even notice it except when I would yawn. Sent from my iPhone using RNYTalk

    MAY 2013 POST-OP GROUP

Talked to 3 nurses last week and they said they believe its a Stricture. I'm miserable and upset about it. Got sick this morning because I put crackers in my soup. They told me he won't do a scope until 6 weeks post op. I'm 4 weeks out now. That's just his rule and I don't know why. Sent from my iPhone using RNYTalk

    Operation procedures

They put the breathing tube down your throat after you are asleep. Then take it out before you wake up. My throat was only a little sore the next couple days. Sent from my iPhone using RNYTalk

    post op question..

As long as your recovery goes smoothly and you don't have any complications then you should be ok to travel that soon out. I'm not sure you'll have much energy for traveling depending on method of transportation though... like if you have to drive, etc... that could really wear you out. I'm 4 weeks post op tomorrow and have lost 36 pounds so far. I have a lot to lose though.

    Problem sleeping

Nurses told me to use dissolvable melatonin. It's worked for me the few times I've needed it. I think zzzquil would be an ok choice too. Sent from my iPhone using RNYTalk

    Strictures

It's worse than awful. Out at my moms bday dinner at Joe's Crab Shack. Having mashed potatoes- doubt they sit well or go down well. Soup selection is non existent really. If it wasn't for the stricture I could have some crab or shrimp or scallops or lobster, etc. trying not to ruin her bday dinner but I'm afraid I might start crying at the table. What do you wear while losing?

Luckily I have a sewing machine and basic abilities to take in things. I can only take them in so much of course but it gives me a little longer. If you can find easy to access seams its pretty easy. Another good idea to avoid expensive clothes like lane giant are places like Ross. I got a dress there over the weekend for $10 and I know I can wear it a while and then take it in too. Sent from my iPhone using RNYTalk
