I left my ex over a year ago and am much better off. I was really settling with him! I won't do that again. We were together 2.5 years so at this point I haven't gone on a first date in like 4 years! Yikes! I'm already nervous just thinking about it. Sent from my iPhone using RNYTalk

Yes. I had mine the week before surgery and since I'm on the pill I always know when it's coming so I planned it that way. I did not want my period during surgery. I started again 3 days post op anyway just from the stress on my body. I bled for a month after that! It was crazy and I thought it would never end. Sent from my iPhone using RNYTalk

What ya eating tonight?

Here is the nutrition info. Lots of fiber and protein. Very little fat and with all the fiber the carbs aren't really bad. Sent from my iPhone using RNYTalk -
What to expect post op...
Jacqueline K replied to cfranklin526's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I did have a catheter and it was put in during sirgery and removed the next morning. I was happy I had it- didn't have to get up to pee during the night. The bag kept filling up from all the IV fluids. I agree with sparklette. My bottom was sore from that thin mattress. Make sure you bring a pillow for the ride home! That was so helpful as the ride home was very painful. Sent from my iPhone using RNYTalk -

Vita pizza! I found it at publix but I had seen it advertised before in weight watchers magazine. Had to dip it in a bit of pizza sauce since it was pretty crispy. Wasn't bad though. I ate all of the inside- left the outer crust alone. Sent from my iPhone using RNYTalk -

Do the effects of the surgery wear off?--RNY Veterans
Jacqueline K replied to ren0318's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm not a veteran really as my surgery was 2 months ago but I know the answer. Some people don't dump at all by the way. I'm not sure if I do as I've avoided high sugar items. The point is that you have the 'honeymoon' phase in which weight loss is the highest. After the first year or two the pouch will stretch a little as its supposed to- we'd eventually starve otherwise. Hunger may return a few months after surgery- depends on the person. Much less food is needed to satisfy that hunger of course. Long term the hope is that you have gotten used to healthier habits and can maintain them. The surgery will not prevent regain. Only we can do that by remaining vigilant. Shrimp cocktail! First attempt with shrimp and it was a success. Had 5 medium sized shrimp. Of course then we went to a movie and I had more popcorn than I should have. Pouch wasn't too happy with that but wasn't really bad either. I just think I ate too much of it. Sent from my iPhone using RNYTalk -

Question for all Post Ops
Jacqueline K replied to shawna29's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So far my costs have gone down. I used to eat tons of fast food and now I don't. I spend less at the store and what I get lasts longer. Sent from my iPhone using RNYTalk -

The lean cuisine Mac and cheese had like 30 something carbs but it has 13 grams of protein and a little fiber so it subtracts out. I only eat half of it anyway so its not really that many carbs. I have a friend that had rny a week before me and she recommended it. No issues for either of us and it satisfies my Mac and cheese cravings. Sent from my iPhone using RNYTalk -

Half a Mac and cheese lean cuisine and some green beans. Easy and I get 2 meals out of one of those if I do it with veggies. Family is gone right now so just making food for me. Sent from my iPhone using RNYTalk -
why does everyone think every illness is related to RNY?
Jacqueline K replied to cookier224's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes even doctors do this. I had a bad cough and would cough up junk. My allergist tried to blame it on reflux which I have never had. She kept bringing it up and explaining the symptoms like suddenly I'd admit to having it! She finally listened to me and we figured out the real problem. I haven't seen her since. Made me so angry. I like either a couple bites of low fat cool whip or a no sugar added fudge sickle. The ones I found at Walmart have only 40 calories. Sent from my iPhone using RNYTalk

I have had a hard time since surgery with a stricture and hospital stay last week. Anyway today was my first day back since the EGD. I'm exhausted and Walgreens messed up my meds and is probably going to charge me again for them at another store. Anyway my sister and I just started arguing over no reason really. Then she started to apologize and I threw it back at her! She goes "I'm not mad or anything" and I said I didn't give a crap if she was to which she said something not nice at all. Been crying for a while now- was crying before that anyway so it didn't help. I don't know why I lashed out like that. I'm an emotional mess and I feel like none of them understand. Surgery and a catheter
Jacqueline K replied to Yennydayerman's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes! I was thankful for the catheter. I peed so much it would have been crazy trying to get to the bathroom. I was so out of it on drugs. The one walk was so much. Sent from my iPhone using RNYTalk -
Surgery and a catheter
Jacqueline K replied to Yennydayerman's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had one - it was put in while I was asleep so it was no big deal. They pulled it the next morning and I had to pee before I could leave. It really wasn't bad- didn't hurt to have it removed. It just felt very weird. I was glad I had it- didn't have to worry about getting to the bathroom the day of surgery. And I would have needed to go a lot! The IV fluids were crazy. The catheter bag kept filling up. Sent from my iPhone using RNYTalk -
The only one the I didn't tolerate was lemonade flavors- they burned my pouch. The others I just couldn't stand the taste of anymore. Still the thought of them makes me feel ill. I don't like peach flavored things anyway but glad you found something you like too. Sent from my iPhone using RNYTalk

So I spent a few days in the hospital last week- came home yesterday. Anyway they gave me decaf iced tea on my lunch tray yesterday. Prior to surgery I liked sweet tea ok but not a huge fan. Well yesterday I tried it with a packet of sweet n low. Omg I had my sister make a pitcher when I got home. I have found something I now love to drink! I have struggled since surgery- didn't like crystal light anymore, milk is ok, Powerade zero isn't that great, and I'm sick of plain Water. So happy with my decaf iced tea and sweet n low! I went with the bypass because its been around longer and so we know the long term results. Also it has the highest percentage of excess weight loss. I also know someone who had the sleeve and hasn't lost even half her excess weight and its been more than a year. I know myself enough to know that I needed the malabsorption aspect of the bypass.
