There is another lady here I talk to all the time that used same surgeon I did. She recently got moved to another station though in Kansas. Her username is ArmyofMe. I paid around $3500 out of pocket but that was to hit my deductible and out of pocket max- my UHC plan was 80% but once I hit my out of pocket I was done. $300 of that was a program fee and $130 was for pre op diet they made me purchase. In the grand scheme of things it could have been so much worse. If that 2k is for deductible and stuff that's ok but if its just the program fee I'd find another surgeon. I had one when I went in for my EGD but no symptoms. Guessing it was from bad dehydration. They gave me IV antibiotics since I was getting fluids anyway. I would think as long as azo has no NSAIDs you should be ok. Sent from my iPhone using RNYTalk

Are you pre op? I was that way on pre op diet. I would imagine I smelled food and dreamed about it at night. I'm about 3 months post op now and I hate food. I make myself eat. I never want food or even if I do want something I'll take one bite and my pouch is uncomfortable as soon as it hits. I don't usually throw up but just feel sick every time I eat. Doesn't hurt except for a slightly sore throat. I barely noticed that though. I was on a liquid diet the day it was done and soft foods for 2 days after. He said as long as everything went down ok that after those 2 days back to normal diet. Sent from my iPhone using RNYTalk

I had mine dialiated middle of July. I had mine done on Thursday and went home Friday- they just wanted to make sure I could hold down solids before they sent me home. I felt fine after the procedure. The sedation isn't general anesthesia so you won't be so groggy as before with the bypass. You'll feel much better when you can eat again. Plus if you're dehydrated, like I was, they'll get you plenty of fluids. You'll do so much better after. Good luck! Sent from my iPhone using RNYTalk

My ride was about 45 minutes. It was the worst part of the whole surgery for me. I hugged a pillow during the drive and mom tried to avoid bumps but I was in really bad pain. They gave me a tiny shot of morphine a couple hours before I left. Wasn't enough and we had to pick up my lortab on the way home. When I got to the house I was in excruciating pain. Mine didn't tell me to stop or anything really about the pill. Have been on it for years. It's mostly for my PCOS though. Haven't been sexually active in more than a year so not worried about pregnancy right now. Sent from my iPhone using RNYTalk

I went out about a month post op for my mom's bday. I feel you. We went to Joe's Crab Shack but I wasn't able to have anything besides water! I had a stricture so couldn't even enjoy the lovely seafood. I watched everyone feast on lobster, shrimp, and crab legs. They were all good Protein choices but stricture prevented any solids at that time. I know you know feel- sitting there watching them feast made hate being there. I wanted to cry. Lunch was a lunchables- just crackers with turkey and cheese. I couldn't even finish it..... I am still amazed at how little I eat. Pre-op I could have eaten 3 lunchables at one sitting and still been ready for more!

Yes I would never pay that! I can't believe they have any patients at all with that! My surgeon required a $300 program fee which covers seeing nut, mental health, and fitness lady. The pre op diet they make you get from them is $130 for the full 2 weeks of food. No way would I do anywhere near 4k! Sent from my iPhone using RNYTalk

Could be a stricture if things feel stuck. I had a stricture that got fixed but still deal with a good bit of nausea so I have phernergan and zofran prescriptions as needed for that. I was given a shot in the hospital before surgery and the next day. Didn't have to give myself any. I think some do if there is a chance they are prone to clots. They don't really hurt cause the needle is so small. They do kind of itch after its done but do not rub it! I had to go back in for an EGD 6 weeks post op and got a couple more lovenox injections that time and I rubbed one of them I guess. I have never seen a bruise that big before.
