    Help Im exhausted

I was so exhausted the first few weeks that I slept all night and took long naps in the afternoons. I was still tired easily after that and would go to sleep after dinner every night. I'm nearly 5 months out (on the 30th it'll be 5 months) and I just got a real energy boost in past 3 weeks. Now I'm ready to go all the time. Sleep normal hours and don't really need naps anymore. Should I go to the ER?

Wow that's great! We have a set of twins in the family- my youngest siblings are nearly 14 now. I was 13 when they were born and I will tell you they are so much work but also such a blessing. Sent from my iPhone using RNYTalk

    Bowel issues

I am miserable too. I take 2 colace a day but it's not doing squat! I only go about 2 times a week too and it's miserable every time. I take miralax when it's been a couple days and that helps. Need to take some fiber supplements. Sent from my iPhone using RNYTalk

    United Health Care Optum

I have UHC as well through Wells Fargo. I did not have a 6 month requirement. I had surgery 2 months after my initial consult. Only requirement I had was a mental health evaluation and to use a bariatric center of excellence. It will all depend on your individual plan. Good luck. Sent from my iPhone using RNYTalk

    What ya eating tonight?

Cooked for the family- beef roast in crockpot all day, cooked down yellow squash with onions, grilled marinated mushrooms, and homemade mashed potatoes. Everybody ate tons and I ate a tiny plate with a little of everything. All sitting good. Soon will be time for all the kiddies to go to bed finally. Been a long day! Sent from my iPhone using RNYTalk

    Stricture

Happened to me- happens to lots of people. Not a big deal. I was miserable with mine but once my doc did the scope and stretched things back out I've felt much better. You will too and the scope is nothing to worry about! Sent from my iPhone using RNYTalk

Told me I have a Fatty Liver. HUH?

Yes I was also put on pre op high Protein diet to shrink my liver. Most surgeons do this and most of us had fatty livers. Don't worry so much about it. I still have my gallbladder but many patients need it removed at some point. I read 30% end up needing it removed though when I asked my doc he said its much less than that. I figure it a small price to pay if it goes bad down the road. Sent from my iPhone using RNYTalk

    WHO CAN EAT RICE/NOODLES?

I can handle a little bit of Pasta but the one time I tried rice I threw it up. Haven't tried it again since. Sent from my iPhone using RNYTalk
  10. Same here with the smells of food. Yuck! I'll plan a meal and look forward to it but once it's time to eat it I often find that I don't want it anymore. Eating sucks most of the time. I don't Pinterest as much anymore since every board typically has some food recipe on it and I can't stand to look at the food all the time. It's so weird. Sent from my iPhone using RNYTalk

Someone please help me i wanna cry :(

I really loved fat free refried Beans when I was in puréed phase- I'd mix in salsa or sour cream in it. Sometimes I'd add cheese too. Soups- you can add Protein powder to them too. pudding, yogurt, no sugar added apple sauce Sent from my iPhone using RNYTalk
  14. My doc allowed pills the size of m&ms right after surgery. My Vitamins are chewable but small stool softeners aren't. Not sure if they come that way but I'm sure you could find some. Miralax works well and dissolves in liquid so that could work too. Sent from my iPhone using RNYTalk

Only thing we are supposed to take over the counter is Tylenol. NSAIDs are bad for our pouches. Hope you feel better. Sent from my iPhone using RNYTalk

    Diet soda....

I've tried them- my surgeon doesn't mind as long as what I drink is diet and caffeine free. I don't drink much carbonation though. My tummy doesn't really like it. Makes me so gassy and uncomfortable. If I'm going to drink a diet soda I pour it over ice and let it sit to de fizz some. Sent from my iPhone using RNYTalk

    $55-K insurance

For my bypass my insurance paid over $70k. I paid $3500 out of pocket. It's crazy how much this cost! 6 weeks post op I ended up back in the hospital for dehydration, UTI, and a stricture. For my 2.5 day stay and EGD my insurance paid 20k. Just crazy!! Sent from my iPhone using RNYTalk
  18. I took them for about a week but the last couple days I could've not taken it. I wasn't in much pain after about 5 days- just felt like muscle soreness but I figured there was no need to be in pain if I didn't have to be so I kept taking it. Some people handle pain differently though - I have a friend who did still need hers when she ran out. The doctor refilled it for her. If you think that you need it then get a refill. No need to suffer. Sent from my iPhone using RNYTalk
