Surgery date scheduled
Jacqueline K replied to ms_shea's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congrats! It will be here before you know it! -
I started my pre-op diet today as well.... May 30th here we come! Yeah someone in another cubicle at work had a burger and fries for lunch as I sat here eating a Protein bar.... was so not cool having to smell that! My pre-op is pre-packaged foods that my surgeon's office orders in- all low carb/ low cal and high protein. The taste leaves something to be desired.

First Day Pre Op Diet
Jacqueline K replied to Jacqueline K's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh I have ate well past few weeks but yesterday I really did it up. lol The bowel prep is something I am dreading! Supposedly the magnesium citrate stuff they make you drink tastes awful! Not sure how I'll choke that down. Diet is going a little better... stomach finally settled down and feels ok. I had pudding stuff at 7am, jell-o cup at 10am, Protein bar- not too bad at 12, and now I'm eating my broccoli cheddar protein soup- could be worse. I should have brought some salt and pepper as that would improve the flavor. Since the intense hunger I felt at 10 I've been alright. Planning to have a Jell-O again before I leave for home. Then probably a Soup for dinner.... maybe some green Beans or something as they said unlimited green veggies. And definately going to have a popsicle before bed. Thinking I might just be able to do this! -
First Day Pre Op Diet
Jacqueline K replied to Jacqueline K's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Lol yeah the eating I did yesterday was pretty epic- chicken biscuits for breakfast, chinese for lunch- those egg rolls were to die for, and for dinner.... this is a terrible combo I know - bagel bites and mac n' cheese. Also had my last Diet Dr Pepper last night.... boy am I going to miss those!! I have to be on it for 2 weeks- I have surgery May 30th. Water as well, decaf stuff though I doubt I have any, popsicles, Jello, the 4 Meal Replacements a day, all the green raw veggies I want- no starchy ones though, 4 oz of lean meat. That's it. The day before surgery will be clear liquids for me too and a lovely bowel prep. I'm taking that day off - can't move my desk to the bathroom so I figure that was the way to go. -
First Day Pre Op Diet

Ugh my stomach feels terrible too- all gurgly, little nausea, and like I need to go number 2 but I don't. Not sure if its because of all the crap food I ate yesterday - last meals and such. My surgeon makes us buy a diet they have ordered - very high protein shakes, soups, puddings, and bars. I had pudding for breakfast and I don't think it's sitting well. -
My approval should be in today or tomorrow (that's what insurance told me yesterday). I have to go tomorrow to pick up my pre-op diet and go over some papers with my coordinator. Then start pre-op diet Thursday- yikes! I have been eating like a pig last few weeks- feel bad about that but it's about to end for good! 5/22 have my blood work that morning then a pre-op class to go over everything to expect day or surgery and right after. Surgery will be on the 30th. I am nervous but more excited right now. Family (the few that knows about this) seem more scared than I am! I'm just ready to be on the loser's bench! Trying to scramble to get the last bit of money I'll need as I have to pay all my out of pockets costs up front on the 22nd... so annoying as I am only about $350-$500 short and I get paid on the 24th. 2 day gap there- seeing if family won't just lend it to me for a couple of days. My sister has agreed to help a bit so that's great. A pox on high deductibles!

Have a surgery date but still have not gotten the approval from Insurance
Jacqueline K replied to Kwagner01's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ugh. So UHC called me today. They haven't approved me yet- they still need the mental health case worker to go over psych eval results with me. She's out this week of course! Set me up for a call Monday at noon. She wanted to do 17th and I'm like are you crazy? My surgery is the 30th! She goes well we still have time them. They are driving me crazy! I asked her how long after that will I get approval and she goes you'll need to ask her that, all I'm doing is scheduling the call. I need to request my time off work but wanted to wait until I knew I was approved but its getting too close. Guess I'll have to put in request and hope for the best. -
I feel you. My information was submitted last week and on Friday my bariatric coordinator told me UHC said they haven't reviewed psych eval yet and won't decide until they have. She said she'd try back Monday. I have still not heard anything. I told her to call when she did so I'm assuming I don't have approval yet. It is killing me!

The plague!
Jacqueline K replied to futuremrsparker's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I HATE calling in sick but I did it today. I'm really bad about going in sick but I realized that no one else needs my germs. My little sister got me sick and there is no need to inflict it on others. I really do hate using a sick day since I will nearly wipe them out with my surgery. I don't know what I will do for the rest of the year if I get sick. About the Lysol- I really did have a coworker spray me with Lysol once. I really needed to not be there but at that job I had no sick days (it was a get me though college job) and needed the paycheck. She sprayed everything I touched and even sprayed my clothes -she was just messing with me. Anyone who has ever worked in daycare can relate- at that job I stayed sick more often than not. -
Have a surgery date but still have not gotten the approval from Insurance

My date is the 30th and I haven't got my approval yet either. I am sure you will be fine! Listen to him and calm down. It will work out. -
I am looking forward to my surgery very much after this weekend. Had to go grocery shopping with family yesterday and as usual my back really hurt. It was worse yesterday than usual and after only about 10 minutes of walking through walmart my back was hurting so badly. By the time we checked out the need to sit and rest was so bad I was shaking. Then after we get into the car my sister needed the baby wipes which happened to be under my feet.... as you all know bending over like that is a real pain. So that was awful and rather embarassing. This morning I'm dealing with some reflux. The urge to throw up is so intense I would call in (or at least go in later) but due to needing time off for surgery soon I really can't do that. I just feel awful this morning. I can't wait till these issues are things of the past. Plus as usual I'm tired and just want to go back to sleep. Never seem to be able to get well rested.

Got my tentative date today .... May 30th!!! Now we are waiting to hear from my insurance company (should hear back early next week as they are currently reviewing it). She said as long as my insurance comes through my date is May 30th! I changed my display name- it was monalisa35023 so you can take me off of pending date list.
-
Yes, very nervous. She said insurance called her and left a snotty voicemail (those were her words) saying they have not yet received my pysch eval and until they have and reviewed it only then will they look at my claim. She didn't seem to think there would be a problem and she tenatively scheduled me for May 30th! She said she'll check back with them on Monday to see if they've reviewed everything yet. I am soooooo nervous! My stomach is going to be in knots all weekend! I just know it!
-
Oh no! I don't think I would give up. Write an appeal yourself, maybe when they see you aren't going away they will reconsider. I am going to call Margaret today myself to see if my insurance has responded. I am so nervous!

My doctor has told me that I must take it. I have PCOS and he said my fertility could improve very quickly after surgery and getting pregnant too soon after surgery is very dangerous.

UHC and BRS Bariatric Resource Services
Jacqueline K replied to Kathy Pitcher's topic in Insurance & Financing
Thankfully I didn't need the 6 months. I didn't even need any medical records! All they wanted was psych eval which I did last Tuesday. I'm so ready for my doctors office to call me! I called yesterday and they hadn't received the eval yet. -
I didn't need any medical records- my insurance didn't require them and my Bariatric Coordinator said if insurance didn't then she didn't. Everyone's experience is different depending on insurance and surgeon requirements.

papers were sent to insurance
Jacqueline K replied to blueeyezz85's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my psych eval Tuesday and am waiting to hear as well! Actually reminds me I should probably call Coordinator to see if they have sent my papers yet. Doc said he'd have psych eval over there Friday or by today and it's been killing me not to call till now! -

Advanced Surgical Weight Loss Center, Campus of Trinity Medical Center in Birmingham, Alabama
Jacqueline K replied to ArmyOfMe's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
I love them all too..... Yeah the $300 program fee seems steep but I figure since it gives us access to all 3 ladies for 6 months after surgery that it's really a bargain! The pre-op diet is going to be no picnic! I did my pysch eval last week and I'm praying this week to know when my date will be! I have done everything insurance has asked and Margaret should be submitting to them this week- and they said I'd know quickly with UHC. I feel you on the living on a prayer! Wow I'm so thankful I didn't have to do the Endoscopy! that sounds terrible... aliens lol. I have already started getting some things ready that I'll need- already have switched off NSAIDs and I am starting Biotin today- trying to keep my hair from thinning after surgery. Already got some baby spoons and bowls with lids and Gas-Ex too! Even got some socks with the grippers on them for walking in the hospital! I cannot wait.... I know the closer it gets the nerves will start to set in. Luckily I'm local so Trinity isn't far for me but I do try and squeeze everything in too so I don't have to miss work more than necessary (since I'll be missing a couple weeks for surgery that is). -
Gas ex? I'm planning on having my mom sneak it into hospital if necessary! I've read it helps.
-
My doctor has said that 95% of his patients go home the next day... I just get so amazed with the big differences I see on here between doctors! I wil admit that I'm nervous about having such major surgery and going home very next day!
-
Yes I am thinking I'll find out my date next week too and am hoping for end of May.... it's all I can think about! I should be working but instead I'm on here!
