Cleared to exercise?

My doc said 6 weeks and I can resume all exercises. Sent from my iPhone using RNYTalk -
What to wear home from surgery?
Jacqueline K replied to punkin's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wore home a loose tank top and stretchy pajama pants. No problem. Actually wore my house shoes since they rolled me out in wheelchair and I was going straight home. Sent from my iPhone using RNYTalk -
Yeah I take it for anxiety as well. I'm having complications so haven't taken it in a few days due to a stricture. Not sure how I'll so once its out of my system. Sent from my iPhone using RNYTalk

Oh man, I think I made a mistake!
Jacqueline K replied to PittGuy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mine was put in while I was out. You will need it after surgery. They are pumping IV fluids into you and you'll have to pee quite often if not on catheter. You will be really out of it when you get into recovery and won't be able to really go to bathroom easily. They took mine out next morning and it really isn't bad! I was scared but it was quick. I wouldn't say it felt good but not really painful either. You'll be fine! Sent from my iPhone using RNYTalk -
Hope everything works out. I too have UHC. I spent $3500 out of pocket before surgery and just got a bill for $664. I feel your pain! It can be done though! Hang tough. Sent from my iPhone using RNYTalk

If you are really worried see about a different prescription. That's the only thing I can think of. Sent from my iPhone using RNYTalk

I was on it before surgery and continued on it after surgery. You are talking about celexa correct? That's generic drugs's name. I know it can cause weight gain so they will be monitoring me as I get further out. Sent from my iPhone using RNYTalk

Same here. And now that I have a Strictire I can't eat anything at all! I'm so upset and really regretting this. I just keep telling myself that I love food but it doesn't love me. It was killing me. This is all temporary. My mini pep talks only help so much. Went shopping today for something to do... Since I can't eat! Sent from my iPhone using RNYTalk

I agree with you. They said to check back in with them Monday and let them know how I am. I told her today that even liquids feel they are getting stuck sometimes. She said to sip and then wait till the feeling goes away and sip again. I can't get in enough fluids. ER is expensive. She did say to go to their ER as one of the surgeons is on call this weekend. Maybe if I have to go to ER I can plead with him to do something. Sent from my iPhone using RNYTalk

First 2 weeks post op I did great. Since this past weekend everything I have eaten and some liquids feel like they are coming back up. I'm 3 weeks post op today. Doctor tries zofran and the phernergan. Nausea is less but still feels like things are coming up back. Talked to nurse again today and she said it sounds like a stricture. I knew it could happen but I was like oh it won't happen to me! So silly. She said though that typical doc won't do a EGD until I'm 6 weeks out! That's 3 weeks from now! I can't keep going like this for that long. She said go back to liquids and go to ER for fluids if need be. I don't think liquids will help as a sip of Protein drink this morning triggered the feeling. I am so miserable. Sent from my iPhone using RNYTalk

Talked to another nurse today at office. My surgeon is out of town until Wednesday. She said it does indeed sound like a stricture and the other nurse is correct on 6 weeks rule for them. She will tell doctor when he gets back and see what he says. They said go back to all liquids and visit ER for IV fluids as needed in the meantime. 3 more weeks of this? I know many of you have had strictures corrected sooner than 6 weeks! Obviously this is just my surgeon's rule and I hate it! Sent from my iPhone using RNYTalk

That's what I thought. She said usually around 12 weeks or so that the scar tissue can loosen up. She emailed me all this so I know I didn't misunderstand. I didn't think that sounded right. Good news- had some Soup for dinner and it sat ok. Just had a slice of cheese and so far ok. Sent from my iPhone using RNYTalk

I guess I'll call and talk to someone else and see if they can check me sooner. I just can't see living like this for 3 weeks. This past week has been awful. Sent from my iPhone using RNYTalk

She didn't say. Just that they don't usually do it for 6 weeks. I'm guessing its for healing but I'm not sure. Sent from my iPhone using RNYTalk

The day before I started pre op diet I had Chinese for lunch- still dream about those egg rolls. The my final meal was Mac n cheese (my fave food of all time) and bagel bites. Sent from my iPhone using RNYTalk

When did you go back to work?
Jacqueline K replied to fourleaf's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I took less than 2 weeks off but needed more. First week back- last week I ended up doing half days as I was so tired. This week though I didn't work today or yesterday as I'm having bad nausea and dehydration. About to go pick up phernagan in a minute (zofran didn't work). Physically apart from tiredness I was ok to work in less than 2 weeks but it depends on the person. Before this nausea I was fine and now I'm not. Sent from my iPhone using RNYTalk -
Terrible taste in mouth...?
Jacqueline K replied to danyellgg's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's from being in ketosis and until you're able to get more carbs in that taste will not go ago sadly. Try sugar free candies or breath mints. Sent from my iPhone using RNYTalk -
Try a heating pad. Also what really helped me- lay on your side with pillow to prop your belly if it hurts. Pull your knees up a little- that position helped me pass gas like no other. Sent from my iPhone using RNYTalk

Mine was only 2 hours. I was there for a while though as I had my pre op blood work before the class. Sent from my iPhone using RNYTalk

I still have head hunger and have the urge to eat. However, every time I have eaten this weekend I feel sick to my stomach afterwards. It takes an hour or so for the nausea and upset to go away. It doesn't seem to matter what I eat! I'm a little over 2 weeks out. I'm thinking for the next couple days I'll just stick to Protein shakes and hope this issue goes away? Any advice? Don't feel like eating!
Jacqueline K replied to jlh76's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've had trouble this weekend too. Been feeling nauseous after I eat and my pouch hurts. Thinking soft foods just aren't agreeing with me. I'm not hungry either but we still have to eat. I'm going to try going back to Protein shakes and puréed things. Then I'll try more foods again. Sent from my iPhone using RNYTalk -
I hate eating!
Jacqueline K replied to Jacqueline K's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have some of the zofran pills. I took one yesterday and it did help. Problem is I don't want to use many as my insurance will only cover 12 of them every 30 days. My surgeon proscribed 15 and I only got 12. I wasn't nauseous till this weekend. I guess I can just see what the cost without insurance would be on them. I do fine as long as I don't eat which is why I figure this is temporary. Just going to steer clear of most food and focus on shakes? Sent from my iPhone using RNYTalk
