band to bypass how is everyone finding the weight loss?
handrene replied to cbelhaj's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had the band before as well. The band made my gastric bypass surgery a bit more difficult as I had a lot of scar tissues and adhesions. I had surgery on April 1st. So far I have lost 30lbs. I get quite a bit of stomach pain but it feels mostly like hunger pain even though I don't feel hungry. Also I get quite a bit of nausea. Nonetheless this is a much better surgery for me. I had soapy complications with the band that cost me so much money over the years and then ending up not paying a dime for this surgery as it was covered. You mention that you doctor said your weight loss might me slower because you had the band. Well I was never told that and I think my weight loss has been reasonable.. I wish you all the best. -
Speak with a nutrionist because there are many options.. I haven't yet cuz my appt is may 8. Right now I don't drink any protein shakes.. I have some milk and try to get protein in other ways.. Nonetheless I am struggling

angry and disturbed with myself
handrene replied to Cherry's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Surely can understand your feelings given your history. I have heard of similar feelings and I too get down on myself sometime with the negative self talk such as why did I do this to myself and now I have to take such drastic measures. But I try not to dwell on those thoughts. I don't have alot of issues except a nagging stomach ache that feels like hunger pain even though I don't feel hungry. But I have lost 25lbs and it feels good just to be able to drag on something to run to the store instead of spending so much time finding clothes that fit. I too struggle with having very little energy and constant nausea. However my doctor say to give my body about 3 months cuz I had a very difficult surgery. So I am being patient. But be kind to yourself cuz surely you would never say that to a friend. Something someone told me.. All the best -
I find with chicken and fish I try to chew it so carefully and then I don't feel like swallowing.. I worried that I am not getting enough protein because I don't like most protein powders. They actually make me want to vomit..

I notice many of you on this thread recently had surgery. I had surgery April 1st. I am struggling and just wanted to know what foods are you all eating at this stage. Maybe I could get some ideas. I hate all the protein powders I have tried. Please list as many as you can.. Thanks

For pre-ops who have heard RNY horror stories...
handrene replied to Debbiebydesign's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
It took me two years to make up my mind about the surgery. I had the lapband and initially had success but after a few years I just couldn't find a common ground with fills. I had my surgery on Monday and left the hospital yesterday. So far I am just feeling sore. I have no problem eating so far and am more worried if I am eating enough ( couldn't imagine the day I would worry about eating enough). Lol.. Anyway I am sure it will be a long and tedious journey. I feel my greatest fear is over which was making it through surgery. I have lost 10lbs in the few days. Looking forward to my journey -
Hi Renee.. I am new to the forum too. It took me two years to make up my mind. I had the lapband a few years ago but it didn't work for me. I just had the bypass on Monday and got home from the hospital today. So far am ok but worrying about the unknown.. Wish you all the best
