    upper endoscopy

yes the barium to me taste like something that shouldn't be allowed in a person. but the endoscopy is nothing like it at all and the versed is your best friend during the procedure
  2. my prayers are with you
  3. I have worked around women like this for years and was told it is self hate but it is also the pressure to keep what they have sleep/worked so hard to achieve.
  4. I felt a little out of sorts with this exact same thing when I first signed on because of my hw and age didn't see to many comments where people started out as high as mine but then I had to look at the fact also not many females as tall as I am. but now I have been on here long enough to see hw higher and lower than mine and ages vary as well. And Dorian I also have noticed more looks and conversations not than before.

    my 'last' meal

My last supper was actually a last week end one day was alfredo's which is mexican food chips and salsa with the enchilada platter and riverwind casino in oklahoma has a buffet prime rib, fried chicken, bbq ribs and cheese cake and ice cream to end it. now no buffet and first meal restaurant was fathers day shared a plate with daughter and had about 4 bites of fish filet and 4 bites of cole slaw. since can't drink and eat when out I order a glass of ice with lemon wedge while everyone else drinks soda. why is my drink request the only one that gets messed up LOL.
  6. thanks I will pick some up and give those a try. I hate the fact that the sugar free things that I used to like I can't stand now because I have a full cabinet of crystal light packets and ocean spray cran-grape mixes and can't stand to drink a full bottle of either.
  7. I am to the point having nightmares of eating a full steak and waking up angry because I had been able to eat the whole thing. then realizing that it was just a dream. so that day is liquids only for me. meal replacements and protein drinks.

    upper endoscopy

Ok now I feel better. not that I had problems with the first one the versed sleep seems like i was out for a few seconds no bleeding or pain after dilation. Its just the events leading up to it that I don't like. one day i could swallow soft foods very slowly by day 3 couldn't swallow water and was back on ice chips. my pouch opening had closed to about 3 mm after dilation it was about 10 mm. can swallow solids with adequate chewing now but then the food would stop in chest and I felt like I was having a heart attack with the foaming and regurgitation.
  9. can anyone suggest a sugar free breath mint? on my job I have to talk alot and the one thing I hate is that taste in the mouth when you have been at work for 10 hours constantly talking. Hate to know that my breath is not as fresh as I would want and can't keep going to the restroom to brush my teeth. the sugar free life savers that I used to eat don't taste right anymore after tastebud changes post surgery so any suggestions?

I had the rny on april 10, 2013 so my loss is only 68 lbs over 9 weeks thus far and building my relationship with God daily. I enjoy reading from people who are post longer than I am it encourages me. thank you

    Chobani vs Protein Shake

One thing you need to take into place is your taste buds change after surgery so things you may not like now may taste good later and vise versa. I had surgery April 10. now 9 weeks out and I have went from wanting hot things like hot decaf tea to only wanting cold foods and drinks. bring on the ICE
  14. I haven't had a dumping episode at all. thank God but I try not to do sweets because that is what my surgeon and nut told me would cause it. I am a nurse and have taken care of patients in hospital that had dumping syndrome and that is what I didn't look forward to. Haven't had nausea since home from the hospital. now the vomiting I can tell if I take one to many bites of something because after a few minutes I start to burp and the thick foamy spit forms in my throat. once that is cleared I am fine just have to remember small bites and chew chew chew before swallowing.

    Hi! ????

I am post op also april 10 and that is funny because I noticed the same thing. I told someone how you first notice the big things like in my case diabetes didn't have to take 4 meds for it anymore down to one shot at night. then you sit back and oh yea haven't felt that pain in my knees anymore or no frequent urination during the day or night.

    0-6 month

went cold turkey on caffeine. OMG the withdrawal headaches lasted about a week and just stopped. The tiredness kind of stayed around until after surgery the iron supplements worked wonders.
  17. I will be 7 weeks post op tomorrow May 29, I have been through so much since my first surgery April 10 I feel I relate to alot of what I am reading. My surgeon first thought that I was rushing the soft foods when I said I couldn't keep anything down after had to have a bowel reconstruction one week after rny. 1 week later she scoped me and the opening of my pouch had closed to the size of a pea that is why nothing was going down not even the carafate liquid I was supposed to drink to coat my pouch. 5 days later had it dilated, (i had to wait 5 days because i am on coumadin a blood thinner so had to be off 5 days) liquids that day pureed the next and by the 3rd day soft. they said that this can happen and was told that sometimes more than once. so to sknymeby47 I know how you feel but please don't give up it does get better.
  18. You are not alone i had the same thing and understand what you mean by the weakness i am 6 weeks post op. I can tell you that as long as you meet your protein, vitamin and iron your strenght will pick up.
  19. I am post-op april 10. on May 16 was told that the opening to my pouch is about the size of a coffee stir straw and on tomorrow may 21 am going in to have it stretched. my question is to any post-op person that has had this done have you ever had to have it redone? Does it stay open?

    Stretching of opening

Thank you wasn't to bad considering they gave me versad which after it was over I didn't remember anything from the point of being fitted with the mouth piece so I didn't bite down.

    hi

I heard this in my group meeting pre-op from a post-op person. 1. your taste buds change. 2. fizzy drinks you can't do. yes my taste buds changed and now some of the foods that i used to love turn my stomach. so who knows you might not want to eat that piece of chocolate cake. but I can drink a small amount of a decaf-fizzy drink but not often.

    EXCITED

Pre-op diets differ by surgeons. my all liquid portion of my pre-op diet was only 3 days prior to surgery. this I did but prior to that I had the last supper syndrome.
  23. This was my first surgery ever and after it a week to the day went back in for small bowel obstruction (vomited and diarrhea nothing but blood and unbareable pain) which put me back now tomorrow have to have opening to pouch stretched due to scar tissue closed it to the size of a stir straw for coffee so just ice for 5 days. (have a g tube for meal replacements and vitamins and water) but if asked would i do it again. I would have to say yes. I have lost 50 pounds since surgery (april 10) my knees dont hurt I have gotten my iron level back up so not as tired. feet arent swollen with pain when i walk now.
