Newbie getting readyfor surgery. How did you feel?
shyanne replied to jenniferrosesmyth's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I had never had major surgery. Only wisdom teeth removed. I say I have a pretty high pain tolerance lol as long as it don't last toooo long :-D I woke up from surgery and first thing out my mouth was... Pain. The gave me the morphine button and before they could completely explain I hit it :-) I had my surgery at 2 and by the time I woke up again around 11 at night I was up and walking. I had a great team who was great at pain management.... I had a laperscopic surgery and had a stubborn muscle around my largest incision so I was a little extra sore and it developed in to a slight infection so the soreness lasted a little longer.... But I'd do it ALL again in a heartbeat :-D my highest weight I was 360lbs. Day of surgery I was 336 and a week ago I was 220 lbs. I'm coming up to a year out :-D this surgery helped me live again. I was alive but for a few years I was not LIVING. I think usually the first month or two can be a little rough but once you start feeling better you'll feel great :-) This helped too :-D http://www.dailystrength.org/c/Gastric_Bypass_Surgery/forum/13157871-newbies-need-know -
What should I pack for the hospital? SURGERY THIS WEEK!@#$%^&*!
shyanne replied to NycGal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My hospital suggested a pillow from home :-) it also helps for the ride home if your still sore to grab on to :-D first thing my mom did was slam on her breaks 0_o Phone charger and the toiletries... Got it. I wore maxi dresses in the hospital. They were easy to put on and I was walking at all hours down the hall. I took my laptop but never used it. Got the Chapstick... Good :-) crazy thing... Of you have long hair and use hair ties make sure they don't have the metal in them. And... Congratulations!!! :-) -
How about some NSVs!?!?

Ahh!!!! Love em!!! :-D -
As hard as it might be.... Step away from the scale!!! It will drive you nuts. I took mine to my moms and weight once a week. I've heard of husbands taking the scale out the house. Measure your self. Stalls happen. And it's hard not to become scale obsessed.

I always made sure I had a cup of ice and bottle of water by my side. I had 0 interest in any thing else but I did not want to become dehydrated. A week out I was still in bad pain. Every one gave me the... Well you just had surgery. No s--t! But I knew some thing is not right cus the pain was getting worse not better. Where my largest incision was it was getting red and puffy. I soon couldn't stand straight. Went to the doc. They said maybe I pulled a muscle.... Looking back I think the PA was a idiot because who pulls a muscle and the INCISION is swollen?!?!? They gave me muscle relaxers and sent me on my way. The next day I woke up from a nap with brownish oozy stuff gushing out my largest incision... Yeah it had developed a slight infection. I thought I was dying and it felt like it was on fire. It was taken care of. And soon healed after a few weeks of packing it. Sorry if in rambling.... I have a point :-D listen to your body and contact your doctor and stay on them if you have to. They need to take care of AFTER surgery too. That's what they get paid for :-) good luck and hope your on your way to a speedy recovery.

I mainly had... broth and Water.... Some more water and.... Water :-D I had this grape mix I got from my bariatric doctor that's how I got my Protein in cus I really did like the shake I was drinking pre op. So don't go crazy and stock up on Protein drinks you like now because your taste might change after surgery. It was a long time before I could get my protein but I always made sure I had water by my side. And mt pouch was a picky one. I could only drink ice cold bottle waster. If I drank room temp it would feel like I swallowed a lump. Don't take big drinks. Sip sip sip :-) -
Ahhh how exciting :-D it will be here before you know it :-) scooting over on the losers bench for a spot for you :-D

Sugar & Carb addict!
shyanne replied to raquelrdgz's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I too struggle... And It is a addiction. One big thing that helps me is not even have the food in the house. Carbs cause you to crave more carbs and feel hungry sooner. I also don't dump :-/ I actually had rny so I would dump. Replace bad foods with good or better choices. And I always say most of this journey is head work. We can re arrange out guts but that does not fix our heads. Maybe reach out to your bariatric doctor and they can suggest a good therapist. Good luck :-D it's great your reaching out now. You got this :-D -
Congrats :-) keel up the great work :-D

Wow I relate sooo much :-D I was squeezing in to a 28 a little over a year ago... I'd actually buy 28s with stretch just so I didn't have to actually buy a 30 that I really should have been in. And even days like to day I'm driving in to work and can't BELIVE I'm wearing a 16 today o_O and I got to thinking and for sure the last time I was a 16 was in jr high. I still try and grab a larger size... Stand in the fitting room trying to figure out why it's not fitting correctly lol cus it's too big!!! I'll grab the smaller sizes and think.... Wait that's waaaay to little. And it fits o_O it's been a big struggle of mine seeing the new me. But we'll get there :-D -
LoL it's a good bra :-D I'm a c cup. Went from a 46 c to a 38 c... But when the band gets smaller so does the cup :-/ lol I work at Lane Bryant and specialize in the bra section :-D

I turned 27 in February had surgery May 7, 2012. At my heaviest I was 360lbs. So goin in to surgery I knew I'd have extra skin no matter how much toning and arm workouts I do. But the do help. I'm down 140 pounds. Still 220lbs. My arms Have the bat wings... I no longer do a cap sleeve :-) the body part that bothers me most no one sees and that's my inner thighs. My tummy has loose skins. I say it looks like a had a baby but I haven't :-) I do plan on eventually having plastic surgery farther down the road. But right now I can live with it :-D I say if rather have extra skin then the extra weight :-) life is so much sweeter :-)
