What ya eating tonight?
Nel replied to OleHippieGal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I licked a ton of Laughing Cow Swiss cheese wedges off a spoon.... -
what if options does one have if insurance won't cover bypass
Nel replied to clowntrigger's topic in Insurance & Financing
Well, I paid out of pocket. My insurance covered 4K and I covered 12k. I had to pay it all up-front. So I guess, private pay. -

I'm in the same situation as you and I'll be starting week 4 on Monday. It's okay. -

Baked tilapia with lemon, salt and Parmesan. It's my first try at this... But I am on soft foods and I can mush it with my fork. So there ya go. -
I also had five

I'm off to bed...but I'm frustrated. I'm 10 days out. 9 if you don't count my day of surgery and my doc says to only drink 4 ounces an hour. AN HOUR. But to get in 48-64 ounces a day. HOW. Think about it logically. It would take me 16 hours to get in 64 ounces and that's ONLY if I didn't eat. You know...the whole 30 before and 30 after thing. So, give up sleep? Now I've met the 48 one a couple of times. Almost. That's only 12 hours...and it leaves room for eating! Yay! But I have a slight headache. Most all my headaches my entire life have been born of dehydration. Most of the time, I count in my Protein drinks as a Water source and they fall under my ounces. My life has become sipping water. The bad thing...I don't feel uncomfortable drinking it. I don't feel sick or in pain. I feel I could drink way more than 4 ounces an hour. in fact...I can drink an ounce in less than 5 minutes but I'm so super worried I'll rupture a stitch or stretch out my pouch. Last time I talked to him he said FIVE OUNCES AN HOUR TOPS. I have a drinking problem. HOW DO YOU ALL DO IT. Are you secretly drinking more at a time? Or do you just time everything REALLY REALLY WELL? Cuz I have to say....if I take a nap, I'm not hitting my water quota. I'm staying up late at night to get in the 40 ounce mark! Seriously. This is stressing me out.

And might I add, I am so very glad that I wasn't a candidate for the band. I was considering it until I went in and he told me with my metabolic issues and all that I wasn't eligible. It seems like nothing but trouble.
-
I'm so sorry. We have others I've read have to do that.

Does anyone else have issues with eggs? It's THE ONLY thing that's given me any issues. Well, a few of my protein shakes have made me nauseous...but the egg. I felt like I was going to die and it was soft scrambled? I don't even have issues with milk. Or fatty cheese. Just eggs.

It gets better. You were just cut open and had your insides changed and rearranged. I was sure I'd screwed up my life completely until about day 8. Oh, and I cried a LOT. You might add some kind of flavor to your water...like Mio. And even though I knew my chances during the first few weeks of having "buyers remorse" were really high, like 100%, it didn't make it any better when it happened.

I was told 30-1 hour. Also, your pouch will mature over time to 4-8 oz. I would think that whatever you can eat *in moderation* is fine. I don't know, you might consult your nut though.

I know. I was shocked it still showed up on my phone then found out, nope, not the computer. That kind of sucks. You could thaw them and slice them and stuff them with a little crabmeat and fat free cream cheese....maybe add in some spinach? -
I agree. I was dehydrated and felt like that. It gets easier to get fluid down.

OMG. I grabbed the anesthesia dude by the arm and reminded him again before surgery how sick his wonderful stuff makes me. I was so worried I'd throw up. I had one mouthful of blood...right after I started ice chips. It freaked me out so bad. I didn't get to walk the first night because even with that patch and the shot....I almost threw up. Throwing up with fresh staples was my biggest fear going in. I AM SO SORRY THAT HAPPENED TO YOU. Are you okay?

I desperately miss my morphine pump. My husband laughed at how I clutched my pump button even in my sleep. Congratulations on making it through and keep us updated!

Depends on if they make you dump. Little sugar bombs. Fruit sugars don't seem to bother me. I haven't eaten a grape though

Drinking makes me nauseous
Nel replied to crazedteacher's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I get nauseous in the morning when I try to drink water. I've found I don't have that issue from half water half apple juice. So that's what I drunk. Maybe trying around with other stuff? -
I had the patch also and 3 injections of some kind of anti nausea med. anesthesia makes me so nauseous.

happy birthday! -
I'm fat. I've made bad choices in diet and exercise. I also have hashimotos and PCOS that make it easy to gain and hard to lose and gives me a metabolism that's almost dead. Normal people with no health problems make bad eating and workout choices. We're going to screw up. It's just the way it is. Most of us are and or were addicted to food. Food is good, doesn't judge you and is one of the only ways to enjoy instant gratification. A support group supports you and in a non JudgeMENTAL way, gives constructive criticism. This surgery is one of the hardest things most people will do and having someone judge them with a crappy superior attitude is counterproductive to what should happen. Everyone is here due to obesity. Not one person is better than another. 2 days ago it was pretty cool, then everyone got a side of drama. I just want to have somewhere to go and say, is this normal? Is this dumping? Anyone else have this happen? But hey, now I know we can block people and its a wonderful thing. So before we all leave here for a better place, lets start using that option.

Sharing my journey! Surgery TOMORROW!
Nel replied to Kristeeh's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Good luck tomorrow. We have an april pre and post surgery thread. 2 different ones. Anyway, I was april 1st. Your youth will help, but no matter how you lose all the weight, either you're elastic or not. I'd prefer the skin over the fat but I also hope for the lottery. -
I'm sorry. I hate seeing a post go unanswered. I didn't get an infection...but I did pull something inside. Horrible pain.
-
Good gravy, I hope so. It sucks. I pulled something terrible. Wasn't aware it was there...but now we've been introduced.
