  1. This is a major life change. It's totally normal to feel unsure or scared. I was fine *mine moved really quick. I started researching in like february and had surgery in April 1. All I had to do was sleep study and blood test before so* But the last 2 weeks before surgery....I kept wavering and was one second from calling it off. Then there comes that moment...when you're at the hospital and they haven't taken you back yet and you know that this is it. This is the moment. Either you put your life and future in this persons hand and start a new chapter...or you yell hell NO and run. So, research. Ask questions. Find a surgeon that you feel comfortable with handing over your life...and do what feels right. My surgeon intimidates me. I get nervous when he comes in the room.....but do I believe the man is skilled and the best possible surgeon that I could find? Oh yeah. I do. I have no doubt that he's one of the top in his field and that my success is his success. So I did it. And I'm happy. Today was the first time in FIVE years that I've been under 300. I'm 299!

    lemon

My surgeon also recommended warm lemon juice and water in the morning for nausea

    lemon

Mine was April first. I eat salmon, tilapia, mashed potatoes, cream soups, refrained beans, puréed chicken salad, Greek yogurt, sugar free apple sauce, SF pudding, baby bell cheese that I chew very good, low fat ricotta.
  4. Tilapia sits heavy in my pouch, but I've been eating it a lot. I dipped last night in egg whites and then coated them in Parmesan and Italian bread crumbs. Then I covered it in fat free tarter sauce. Sigh, it still tasted like fish though. I'm so not a fan of fish. I wish I were though.

    Protein bars

Oh and atkins chocolate chip granola. 17 grams of protein. One gram of sugar. They DO have 9 grams of sugar alcohol though. It's not horrible, but if you're super sensitive...It could have an impact I guess.

    Protein bars

Quest is yummy. Expensive, but yummy. GNC carries them.
  7. I'm still on soft so I use my small casserole dishes and my ramikins and measure out fat free beans. Then I spoon a good amount of pureed mild salsa on them and bake them until they get crispy around the edges. Then I pull them out and put 75% less fat sharp cheddar *that surprisingly melts!* and when they cool and I put them in the fridge.....sigh. I slap a piece of velveeta on the top. so when I microwave them...they taste like bean rotel dip!
  8. My stall finally broke. The trick was drinking more water. I'm actually ABLE to drink more water. My nut told me to drink as much as possible as long as it doesn't hurt. I'm up to 80 oz a day.

    lemon

I eat fish with lemon and add lemon slices to my Water. No issues. You need to make sure you deseed it though. One lemon seed and you'd be sorry, I imagine. That's my fear. I use my slicer and inspect each one before it goes on or in anything. I'm 27 days out.
  10. I was also allowed dill pickles during the first week of my two week diet.
  11. Talk to your surgeon and maybe only listen to actual medical studies. Most people get pre surgery jitters, but that's not what yours sound like. You can always reschedule.

    8 week checkup

Yeah, I'm going to ask about it tomorrow at my visit. I ate a few crackers the other day. Chewed them to mush...I don't think my pouch liked them though.
  13. broccoli and cheese soup with extra cheese on top I'm also in love with yoplait greek 100 cherry right now. I have to spit out the cherry pieces, but it's pretty delightful. That was breakfast.

    8 week checkup

I have a diet and on it is whole wheat bread, toasted 5/5 and ground meat. My surgery was 4/1.

    Not hungry...

Lots if nasty ones. Burnt rubber and bottled sadness
  17. I was on a bariatric floor at a large hospital and they brought me regular black coffee for breakfast and regular tea for lunch. I refused it. They also told me "if they bring you a real meal, refuse it". This is a BARIATRIC FLOOR.
  18. I went back to work today. SO TIRED. Anyone ever have their pouch sore? Just like to the touch? I think maybe I inflamed it.
  19. Nel

    Maybe TMI, BUT....

My superpower is...repression. I certainly would ask him. Can't hurt to, right? Maybe there's a known reason...

    Vitamins

My surgeon told me what kind of vitamin and how often to take it. I chose celebrate chewable pineapple strawberry
  21. I had it. It went away. Heat helps. I felt like I'd ripped open that incision on the left of my belly button.. it hurt to stand, sit up, lay, move....it was sore to the touch. It DID go away though. After about 2 weeks.
  22. Hungry Girl is your friend. Of course, you'd need to use caution since we have a pouch but http://www.hungry-girl.com/biteout/show/2599

    Regrets

But you should be able to drink water again soon, right? I really do hope it gets better.

    Regrets

What's making you unhappy? The loss of food? You'll be able to eat again sooner or later, just less and better choices. You'll be satisfied with less food. I'm sorry you have regrets and I hope it works out for you.
  25. I have a high tolerance for pain but this hurt me. I was IN LOVE with my morphine button and just now started wearing jeans again 2 days ago. Mine was 4/1. You'll be fine. Cough up everything you can and poot everything out! Gas was my worst thing. Mine just wasn't passing so I had to have a few things like a suppository. VIOLATED! I did it myself though, so that should tell you it's not that bad. Take chapstick, wetwipes, hand sanitizer, and real clothes and shoes.
