In the mountains just west of Boulder.
-
Hi Kari, Nah, possibly the other side of the mountains...though. I'm from the mountains of Colorado about 35 miles west of Denver. About 6 years ago my husband had a mid-life crisis and we took the plunge to follow a dream...we bought a house right on the Med. on the coast of France about 1 1/2 hrs. north of the Spanish border. For a major part of the year we rent it out mostly to Brits to help out with the mortgage, but we still use it 1 to 2 times a year during off seasons. Ok crew, let's hear the boo-hissss. I guess you would say it's a way to diversify our holdings. We'll be heading there for the holidays this year, then catch a visit with our son at Penn State Graduate School on the way back. By the way 5'9" and 169 lbs---WOW!!!!!!! I'm hoping that the message I copied from an email came out ok. It's a day brightener for us women... Husband of the Year Awards The honorable mention goes to: TheUnited Kingdom ...followed closely by The United States of America and then ............... Poland but3rd Placemust go to........ Greece it was very very close but the runner up prize was awarded to.... ............. Serbia but the winner of the husband/partner of the year ...... is ......... Ireland Ya gotta love the Irish. The Irish are true romantics. Look, he's even holding her hand. Woman hasManin it; Mrs. hasMr.in it; Female hasMalein it; She hasHein it; Madam hasAdamin it; Okay, Okay, it all makes sense now... I never looked at it this way before: Ever notice how all of women's problems start withMEN? MENtal illness MENstrual cramps MENtal breakdown MENopause GUYnecologist AND .. When we have REAL trouble, it's a HIS terectomy .. Send this to all the women you know to brighten their day. Send this to all the men just to annoy them ......

There is no way in heck that I will look at my investments. I think I'm doing good when I check the exchange rate on the Euro. We have to hit bottom some time and when we do, we will all be ready!!

Silly me,....... I worry about you. Also I'm sensitized about the blood sugar thing as my son has Type 1 diabetes (got it at 25 yrs old)....Auto-immune thing. He's 6'1" and weighs 146 lbs sopping wet. Did you get an "upslope" weather front today with nippy temps and freezing drizzle? Light snow tonight. Wrap those puppies up warm. Stay safe,

Oops, forgot....yes, the Internet is free. Getting to it is not. Oh, P.S. ladies, a word for the wise....when you can, do NOT use the email that is from your Internet provider as it keeps you locked into their site, and their customer for ever and ever. UseYahoo Mail, or GMail (Google Mail), etc. You can get to them from any machine on the Internet, they are free, and you don't have to change you e-mail address when you change Internet providers. Comprendes?

The Internet is like a hose squirting water. The wider the bandwidth (the wider the hose) the more data (or water) you can get over a certain amount of time. A browser is the way to use that data/water (rather than it just running out onto the ground). It looks at the data/water going by and says, yup....this is yours to look at, or nope...this is not your water and ignores it. It can go out and ask for specific data/water when you ask to see a specific site, and the owner of that water pail/data server will send you the type of water/data that you want in reply. Then your browser shows it to you in a manner that you can read. Too much, or is this all water under the bridge  (too punny)

Firewalls can be set up to block specific sites. There are lists which come out daily of hummmm "suspicious" sites that AOL is updating to its firewalls in order to protect the majority of its users. Those lists can frequently become the horses pa-toot. When you feel strong enough to want to save the money and attempt the jump to something more flexable and less costly, let me know and we'll work on it together.

Hi Phyl, And AOL charges such a premium. You are right on with the browser. We here in computer security only use the Firefox Mozilla line. Bits and bytes to ya,

Music, maestro....do, do, doo, doo: do, do, doo,doo......Spooky!!! I like your spelling better.
-
New knees are a thing of great beauty! But do them 1 at a time. I am the bionic woman! Airport security loves me.
-
Phyl, the expression to use is "Eat rocks and die!". Are you downloading movies, videos or music? If the answer is no, then repeat after me, "Eat rocks and die!"
-
Can we all say "firewall"???? AOL is blocking that particular address. I'm kind of afraid to broach the question, but have you thought of using someone other than AOL? You obviously have a good grasp of the Internet and I don't believe that you need AOL's hand holding. Now I'm ducking. Don't hit! Even long distance! I'm sooo sensitive.

Ah, Steph....I researched your numbers and your DR is right on. Here is some info from the American Heart Assn: "Blood pressure lower than 120/80 mm Hg is considered "normal," and the term “low blood pressure” is relative. (Note: Your blood pressure is usually lowest at night and rises sharply upon waking.) Low blood pressure is generally considered dangerous when it drops suddenly or is accompanied by symptoms, such as dizziness or fainting. Severely low blood pressure can indicate serious heart, endocrine or neurological disorders and can deprive the brain and other vital organs of oxygen and nutrients, leading to shock, which can be a life-threatening condition. Symptoms of low blood pressure to watch for include: Dizziness or lightheadedness Fainting (called syncope) Lack of concentration Blurred vision Nausea Cold, clammy, pale skin Rapid, shallow breathing Fatigue Depression Unusual thirst There is no specific number at which blood pressure is considered too low. Most doctors consider chronically low blood pressure dangerous only if it causes noticeable signs and symptoms." See....you ain't falling apart yet.

Hey Kari, Fellow Boomer!!!! I just turned 58 so I am (a-hem) your junior. Ain't it great to see the meds being cut back, and the legs not aching at the end of the day, and eating because you have to, not because you want to!?

Hi Indie, Nice job with the upgrade. Your comm should just be flying now. Vista really looped a lot of computers and operating systems. I'm backed to protein shakes until my new fill settles down. Better go feed the birds. At least someone gets to eat unlimited amounts of their favorites. Bye for now. Car:thumbup:

Hi Steph, That's why I went back for a little extra saline. The only thing that was keeping me from going overboard was momentary strength of will and that was weakening by the week. As not having a feeling of fullness helped get me into the overweight place I was before, I knew that I had to regain that physical feeling of maxed out again. Good luck with what ever direction you decide to go. Stay healthy and safe, Car

Many thanks, crew! Indi, how is the modem? Did any of my ideas lead you astray?
-
Steph, bubshkins (did I spell that right?), Finally got to the dr yesterday and got 1/2 cc fill. Feeling great, BUT (and this is a BIG BUT(T)), I'm only 6 1/2 lbs from GOAL!!!!!!!! Woopie. 140 is coming up on the horizon! At 5'5" a size 8 would be sweet and that would be a distinct possiblity. Big hug to you for your support!

OOo, ooo, ooo.....I think I can help re the Internet (although I am not an AOL person). I make my living working on government computer security (yea, an expert e.g. a drip under pressure). You are right on the mark with what you see as being the problem areas. If the power light is lit on the modem, chances are your modem is still alive. Because of all the new hacker attacks, all the software and hardware providers are putting out fixes at an unbelievable speed. If you do not update your operating system, browsers, drivers and firmware (the brains behind your hardware) often enough, you can get left behind cut off when the parts no longer talk to each other. My one year old modem cut out on me about 2 months ago and I needed to install a new driver. Ok, some ideas. First let's try the free stuff: 1) a) If you can get onto the Internet someplace else, get on to Linksys's site (probably Welcome to Linksys.com) and look up your modem model number under the new downloads area. This will provide you with the latest firmware to shake hands with the latest updates that have already automatically been made to all the other computer stuff around the modem. :tongue2: Save the download to a thumb drive, etc. and c) move it over to your computer which is still hooked up to your modem. d) Follow the instructions which Linksys has provided you along with the download. Are you now ready to beat me up?? 2) If there are no downloads/drivers available for your modem, go over to the customer support area in Linksys and email them a description of the problem. They should come back pretty quickly with an answer --within a day or so(yes, you do have to find someplace else to get onto the Internet to get the answer). 3) Email me your modem's model number and what lights are lit on your modem, and I'll search on the outside support formats that are out there and I'll see what I can see. Only after all of that fails, yes, buying a new modem will probably solve the proble, BUT you still need to download the latest drivers (firmware) even if the modem is brand spankn' new. Phew... so I'll be looking forward to hearing the latest.

If it is any consolation, I'm just surprised that I don't have them anymore. They seemed to be there off and on forever. I had mentioned them to the doctor's NPs and they weren't in the least bit concerned. Watch, I've probably jinked myself. Having said that, of course be careful if your body says that it is more serious. I seemed to look at them as my body settling into where my fat used to cushion me. I know that I am spotty with signing on, so call me, if you are suspicious of something above and beyond...303.885.4277 (cell) or 303.330.0524 or just want to talk. :tongue2:--long distance hug.

Hi Phyl, Been there, done that. For the longest time I had muscle spasms(?) around the port area. I would try stretching out my stomach muscles to get away from the pain while I was sitting, but couldn't get comfortable until I was lying down. Maybe this is the lapband equivalent of the 3rd trimester. I don't think you need to worry. Have you tried IB to stop the pain?

PB Nature Valley Granola Bars. I'm a real sucker.

Hi Steph, Do you mean thongs??? I have a few pairs and they are the most uncomfortable things in the whole world. Tell DH that turn around is fair play. If he will wear them, so will you. With your new petite figure you can wear just about anything. I really like some of the specials that are run in OneHanesPlace. A few pairs of sexy, frilly undies can be quite a mental lift. High wind warning at our house today. DH is home with a cold. I have no sympathy. Took the pups out bird hunting on Sunday. That's my idea of exercising! They just love those big, smelly (as far as dogs are concerned) winged things. Have you tried looking on the greyhound rescue sites for winter wear? At least one of them links to stores that specialize in items just for those sleek pups. Better get back to work. Stay warm. Car
